Ika-dalawamput pito ng Abril sa taong isang libo't limang raan at dalawaput isa,dumaong ang mga manglalayag na Kastila sa dalampasigan ng Mactan at dito naganap ang labanan sa pagitan ng mga katutubong mandirigma sa pamumuno Lapulapu at sa isang puwersang kastila na nakikipaglaban para kay Rajah Humabon ng Cebu sa ilalim ng utos ng portuges na maglalayag na si Ferdinando Magellanes at dito sumiklab ang madugong labanan kapuluan ng kabisayaan,Ito ang Labanan sa Mactan.
Ang kinalabasan ng labanan na ito ay nagresulta sa pag-alis ng mga tauhan ng Espanya mula sa kapuluan, at naalintala ang kolonisasyong Espanya ng Pilipinas ng apatnapu't apat na taon hanggang sa pananakop ni Miguel López de Legazpi noong isang libo't limang raan at animnaput apat.
