The depreciation of the car is only relevant if you intend to sell the car. If you are not really a car guy and you intend to keep the car for like 10-15 yrs. OK Lang bumili ng brand new. You are sure with what car condition you have and no surprise repairs. But if you are selling the car after 1-3 years Dyan ka talo as it represents the largest monthly depreciation. Opinion from a guy that bought both brand new and 2nd hand car.

absolutelya! we have a mitsubishi adventure brought brandnew year 2002. still servicing our family very well everyday for office and grocery errands. yes may mga minor repairs like motor ng window etc pero no major repair at all. naipangsusundo parin from laguna to naia airports from time to time. never pa kami tinirik. basta alaga lang sa gamit and yearly maintenance. i believe isa to sa sulit buys talaga ng family :)

I have has both brand new cars and 2nd hand cars already. Based from my experience, kung may pambili ka always go for brand new. Kung bibili ka ng 2nd hand mas cheaper pero in the long run, magagastusan ka rin sa mga repairs at kung i sum up mo ang repair costs mo and compare it to a brand new car cost, it evens out. Sa brand new hindi sumakit ulo mo, sa 2nd hand sumakit ulo mo, nagka aberya ka sa daan due to trouble sa car, at pabalik balik ka sa repair shop masyadong abala. Lahat ng galaw mo may presyo, yung oras na nasayang due to repairs, mga paghihintay dahil di mo nagamit ang old car mo. Ang brand new right out mas mahal dahil wala ka aalahanin na repairs in the next few years. Between brand new and 2nd hand, doon ka na sa brand new kung meron ka naman pambili

2nd hand car ko. I can say depende kung marunong ka tumingin at marunong ka sa kotse talaga. So far 2 years na sya ang very minimal lng ang pinapaayos ko. For me mas masakit sa ulo yung M.A ng limang taon and hindi naten alam yung mangyayari sa next 5 years. Accord 1994 user 😜

Aside from that you have to think about other expenses like : - Madali ba hanapan ng mga piyesa yung sasakyan?. - Insurance - Gas and maintenance Higit sa lahat may pagpaparkingan ba kotse mo? Yung ibang tao kasi makabili lang ng sasakyan pero sa kalsada naman nakaparada. Abala sa ibang motorista.

Mas mainam na kapag used cars ang hanap mo....... -mas maganda ang makipag meet up sa former owner na bibilhan para mas maayos ang maging negotiation -mas mainam na may kasama kang trusted technician (mekaniko) mo to check any problems -tulad rin na pagbili ng brand new, mas mainam parin na may pang-down para hindi gaano mabigat -mas mainam kung ang bibilhina 2nd hand unit ay stock original (no aftermarket parts or accessories) At mas mainam na mga brand na subok na at mas mataas ang value at indemand

Isang point pa po is if mag buy ka ng brand new, meron ka Peace of Mind while driving n di ka hula ng hula kung kelan ka masisiraan or ano ang next mong ipapaayos sa 2nd hand lalo n at di mo alam ang car history at ang driving style ng previous owner. Ksi meron na bumili ng 2nd hand at kung kwentahin yun pnaayos nya quarterly per year eh prang ksing price n rin ng brand new kung kwentahin. Mrami pang kelangan isaalang-alang, di lang about money or depreciation ksi kung long term use nman ang sasakyan eh good deal to buy a brand new car. Pro kung meron ka lng certain period of use like 4-5 years kung OFW ka eh 2nd hand ang good deal ksi ibebenta mo rin nman.

Appraiser ako sa bank dati kotse. Ang trick niyan pag 2nd hand is 1 year less Ng brand new bilin nio. Almost new but almost 30% less the original price. Ayos ba.

I agree! We bought a 1995 nissan sentra for 120k, first car namin! As in walang alam sa kotse ang asawa ko, pero tyinaga nya talagang aralin everytime na masisira or ipapagawa. Ngayon sya na gumagawa at kabisado na nya bawat pyesa. Luma tingnan pero marami nagsasabi ang tulin nya parang bago, daming napapalingon kse ang porma daw. Isa pa almost lahat ng "bells and whistles" ngayon mabibili mo na e. Generally speaking, people buy cars not for its features, but for the feeling it gives you, para sa image, that's like Sales 101. Pero kung pratical lng, wala naman problema kahit luma, ang importante maayos kang magmaneho at mag-alaga ng gamit. Pansinin nyo halos lahat ng me bangas, bago, ni wala pa ngang plaka.

Absolutely True, i bought a 2nd hand car under 250k more than 3 years ago, and up to now still in good condition, minor replacements of bushings lang nagasto ko aside from regular oil change, i have no worries sa gasgas kasi sanay na hahaha but the upsides is nagamit ko na kahit OFF ROAD hahahaha thats happines u cant do in a brand new car

Yng car ko corolla 1994. Mgnda pa rin ang takbo. Palitan mo lng ang mga piyesa na luma ng bago. Parang bago ba rin. 80k lang bili pero kaya ng tumagal ng another 5 years pa :)

consider a repo car instead of a second hand car (direct from owner). some repo cars are less than 1 month old (ginamit ng mga foreigner or OFW na nag bakasyon). a ton of repo cars are in very good condition (they are well taken care off, but the previous owners just cant pay for them anymore) and a repo car gets about 5% cheaper every 2-4 weeks. whether you take a brand new car, second hand, or a repo car.... just do your math right.

If I have 1m to buy brand new in cash...I'd rather have a loan for that car...and use the 1m for a business that generates cash to pay for the monthly amortization...I think this the most rational way of reasoning.

may luma po kaming pick up at tinatawanan po ung tuklap tuklap na pintura at sabi palitan n daw namin. ang sagot lng namin, kahit luma na sasakyan it is still useful and we are happy and contented with it. at wala kaming plan bumili ng bago kasi di kaya ng budget namin. thanks sir chink for the words of wisdom and for sharing us your advocacy on financial literacy. nag retire ako sa trabaho ko kung tutuusin kaya kung bumili ng brand new car may sarili naman akong bahay pero TAMA ang advice mo 2nd hand car slightly use ang binili ko parehas din ito ng klase at brand ng dream car ko kasi ung matitira sa retirement ko eh may pangpuhunan pa ako.

Cars are considered Expense in a financial statement meaning it depreciates so if A. Brandnew-Ok sayo maging double the price un babayaran dats good as long as hnd burden un cost sayo push B. 2nd Hand- be cautious bring expert mechanic or watch videos on how to check 2nd hand cars wala masama sa pagiging practical- all 2nd hand have issues tlga taking extra care is necessary tlga 😊

Our car is second hand, we got it from a repair shop. In God grace, its still doing good job. I used it to practice my driving skills. I always got a comments that I have a nice car, nobody knows that its only second hand.

disadvantage ng ganun, few months na natambay ang sasakyan, WALA SILA PAKIALAM sa maintenance ng sasakyan, low mileage nga pero hindi nag cchange oil etc, dead battery, walang car wash, alalahanin natin pag matagal naitambay ang sasakyan ng hindi umaandar mas nababawasan ang reliabiity nito maaring pagkabili nyo after few weeks maglabasan ang sakit ng 2nd hand car nabili mo o repossessed car from bank. kaya nga may rule ang bank na as is e wala sila pananagutan. BETTER mag sama ng mechanic para ma check ang car, kung makita nyo kunwari napakaitim at amoy gasolina na ang oil ng saksakyan wag nyo na bilhin maaring humahalo na ang gasoline sa engine oil malaking problema na yun..MAGANDA KUNG ANG REPOSSESSED CAR MAKUHA NYO MGA 2 MONTHS BELOW PALANG NATETENGGA SA WAREHOUSE NG BANK, PERO! syempre risk padin kasi 2ND HAND padin yun hindi natin alam pano ginamit ng 1st owner. BEST padin na magsama talaga ng mekaniko.. pag uwi ng pinas 2nd hand car din balak ko bilhin :D pero yoko ng repossessed cars kadalasan matagal na nakatambay mga kotse dun.

Base sa experience ng kuya ko, every 3 months mababa na ang 7k sa service, tapos premium insurance worth 30k annual. Sa bnew nasa 5k km to 10k km need muna mag change oil ng mas mahal, gasoline din dun ka sa mas maganda sympre mas mahal like shell. Sa 2nd hand change oil annual pwede, insurance 1.7k lang.

Pag 1st car siguro second hand muna to experience how it is magka kotse. Pati pag maintain. Di rin kasi biro talaga. Pag ok ka na, saka na bumili ng bago. May mga kaibigan ako na walang kaalam alam sa sasakyan kumuha ng bago. Ayun, bangga dito, bangga duon. Nagugulat din sa mga periodic maintenance na kelangang gawin sa oto. Ako second hand na luma. Totoong may mga issues pero ok lang kasi gusto ko matutong mag ayos kahit basic lang. So far so good. Magastos sa totoo lang pero kung iisipin ko mga natutunan ko, worth it. Di ko matututunan hands on kung brand new ang kinuha namin.

Rich Dad Poor Dad book of Robert Kiyosaki changed my view about buying Liabilities. The books says “ buy luxury from your passive income or Assets” (unless the car is intended for business, which will help you build your assest) So when that moment comes when I can buy a brand new car, I’ll see to it that it will help me BRING In MORE MONEY instead if TAKE OUT. For now, I’ll save for my 2nd hand car 😅
