Another aircraft carrier departs Portsmouth. This time, it is the HMS Prince of Wales, departing two days after the HMS Queen Elizabeth. Both British aircraft carriers are now out at sea for training and trials.
HMS Prince of Wales (R09) is homeported at His Majesty's Naval Base Portsmouth. It is one of the two largest ships in the Royal Navy and the second Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier. The other is the lead in class, HMS Queen Elizabeth, of whom departed two days beforehand: • Aircraft carrrier HMS ...
Several police boats of the Ministry of Defence Police escorted the Royal Navy vessel into Portsmouth Harbour. Including Peregrine, a new Osprey police boat. The channel was closed for all marine traffic while the movement took place. Tugs from Serco escorted the aircraft carrier under its own steam and provided assistance known as 'indirect towing' as it departed.
Recorded: 4th September 2024.

Looking great, both carriers out for a stroll. The past issues will only make them that much better for a long and successful service.

@ cobra Emergency, many thanks for a great video with lovely clear close ups and great informative information 👍...what a fantastic piece of engineering that ship is very impressive, and impressive the way the tugs were pushing it around into position 👏.

Hope they fixed the propulsion issues and it has more luck than the last ship which carried that name.

Bravo on your correct pronunciation of the letter H ( 'Aitch')! But please stop using the word 'the' immediately before H.M.S., as "the His Majesty's Ship" makes absolutely no grammatical sense.

Why is it everyone else gets to these huge magnificent carriers but in Scotland we do not .....Glen douglas ...closed to traffic....leaves straight out to North Sea.....why not anchor of Greenock in the Clyde ....let us mere proud scots admire the ships we helped build ...now that proves we are a 1 nation .......

That’s both . Once they’re gone that’s it. Nothing left: few missile destroyers. Few subs. We still got any cruisers or they belong in the age of sail?

How many other ships, have we had to mothball, to man these carriers????? Have extended family member serving, who told his father, ex RN himself, that he , and others, were being re-deployed to the carriers. Please tell me i am wrong.

She definitely will not be deployed to the eastern Med, Black Sea, Red Sea, Persian Gulf, Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, Yellow Sea, Taiwan Straits, Philippines Sea or South China Sea. That would be too dangerous for the chicken-arsed UK navy. British would be in way over their heads in such trouble spots. She’s probably headed out for another Love Boat-style cruise in some place that is safe and quiet. 🧑‍✈️ 👩‍✈️

Why Isnt She Flying Her Colors ? No JackStaff ?
@tonys1636
@tonys1636 12 дней назад
The Union Jack only flown in port, as soon as the lines cast off she's at sea, the Jack lowered and the White Ensign flown from the stern. Often flown from the mast as would hinder aircraft movements when on the stern.

@@tonys1636 And why can't we have nice big ensigns on our ships like the French for example, rather than the pitiful little - almost invisible - white ensigns trying not to get tangled up in the antennae that clutter most ships. Are we supposed to be anonymous?

@@cathybrind2381 That White Ensign on her is quite large but looks tiny on a massive ship, it looks much larger when a sailor is beside it.

Imagine if our countries actually used these things to defend democracy? So when will these "tools" be used at the absoulte last minute of a nations existence ?

A large part of the defence budget in two baskets.. Stop kidding yourselves. These two ships are vulnerable to the latest weaponry that can be used against ships of this size. We would have been far better off building flotillas of small fast and highly adaptable vessels, including small submarines, to keep our coasts safe just as the Swedes and Norwegians have. The nuclear 'deterrent' today is a complete waste of money and should be scrapped. For disciplinary reasons, we should also stop mixing the sexes in vessels. Men and women to have their own vessels.
@Kakarot64.
@Kakarot64. 10 дней назад
Having trouble getting enough Men AND Women to man the vessels doubt you'd find enough Women to man more than one or maybe two Frigates by taking them of all the other vessels, which will likely be nicknamed the Eastrogen barges or something by the rest of the service personnel if not something more explicit.
@Dewiart16

@@Kakarot64. I would expect no less from military or naval banter - no doubt the 'woke brigade' will try and ban this next. As regards poor recruitment, suggest setting up a large number of small naval bases all around the country and concentrate recruiting on a part-time basis from those local communities with strong maritime traditions. Work on the Swedish 'tank in the barn' policy of good localised defence. Small boats and small crews are the answer for good coastal defence though we would still need to keep a 'deep sea' fleet of around thirty frigates/destroyers for trade route defence.
