King Charles III welcomed to Balmoral Castle in Scotland by Royal Guard from Balaklava Company 2024

His Majesty King Charles III is welcomed to Balmoral Castle and Estate in Deeside, Scotland, for his summer residence on Monday 19th August 2024. Greeting him was Alexander (Sandy) Manson, His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Aberdeenshire, here with his wife.
The Royal Guard from Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, 5 SCOTS, were under the command of Major Neil Cargill and were lined up ready for inspection by His Majesty the King. With them was the royal favourite, Shetland pony, Corporal Cruachan IV, mascot of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
Also present were the Pipes and Drums of The Royal Corps of Signals and the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. These led the Royal Guard out of Balmoral Esate and back in after the welcoming ceremony and inspection. The King too time to chat to many of the soldiers present and also with members of the public who had gathered at the Gates of Balmoral Estate in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Equerry to King Charles, Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson, was present in the background by the Gates.

my ancestors are also British although I dont know about any Royalty, but they go back to about the 12 century so who knows? and I like watching this kind of stuff for some reason..just all the pomp and splendor, I dont care about all the family drama

The King looks just right in a kilt, he certainly can wear one well. So many can’t, other nations are taller with skinny legs and they just don’t look right! Our King has Scottish blood in him and it shows. That’s what I think, so there! ❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧

We checked with them they were the Pipes and Drums of the Royal Corps of Signals, backed by the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. There are fewer bands now available for ceremonial duties and it is unusual not to have one of the Regimental bands, but most are now on active service.

How is this ceremony ridicilous? The Soldiers are embracing Scottish traditions ans culture and that uniform is part of it, and His Majesty is showing respect to them by wearing a kilt himself. Also every Head of State inspects troops sometime, even Presidents. I guarantee if that was an elected Head of State inspecting the Guards, none of you would be complaining
