So much fun growing sugarcane at home in my suburban garden. How long does it take for a sugar cane to grow? It can take upto 12-24 months but this depends on the variety you plant and the climatic conditions in your area. How to start a sugar cane plant is another common concern. You can sow directly in the garden, stand sugarcane in water or use trays to start the cane sets. What is the best method for planting sugarcane? Flat bed method is commonly used in planting sugarcane. How to grow sugar cane from cuttings? I have experimented three methods you can try at home
What is the spacing for sugarcane? 10-15cm between cane sets is good and 1-1.3m between rows.
What is the best fertilizer for sugarcane? Use plenty of compost and mature manure.
What is the best time to plant sugarcane? Plant them in late summer considering the long growing period.
How many times can you harvest sugar cane? You can harvest sugarcane for 3-5 years.
Where is the best place to plant sugarcane? Does sugar cane need light? Remember to choose a sunny location to plant sugarcane. Why is my sugarcane stunted? You planted sugarcane in a position receiving too little sun. Also the area must have good drainage.
Does sugarcane multiply? Yes sugarcane is a perennial grass and new shoots will grow from buds on the joints of the cane sets.
