I condemn cheating whole heartedly. Imagine if I entered a contest for the world's best facial hair, and instead of sending in my own photo, I sent in a photo of Jenazad or even worse, a pic of Jena's beard photo-shopped onto my face. That would cause major outrage, and rightfully so. If I win, it has to be on my own merits, and in a tournament setting I can't have Jena in my ear whispering advice about how to do that sexy head tilt thing he does to make the beard appear extra lustrous and glisteny or how to adjust my body position so the audience is catching my best side at the pivotal moment. I hope we can achieve a more fair playing field in 2024, both at the E7WC and the WBFH (World's Best Facial Hair for those wondering).
Smile gate just needs to enforce the rules that participants need to be in person next time around. If a finalist can't be there in person then they are disqualified automatically. And if a participant has some sort of funky visa situation where they know ahead of time they can't fly to Korea well then they're taking a huge gamble participating in the world cup knowing that getting to Korea probably will be impossible for them and they will be disqualified if they make it to the finals
Nailed it with the comment regards to banning, because they're afraid to potentially lose a big portion of their income from cheating whales. That's why they've always turned a blind eye on it. They only addressed it trying to make themselves look a bit more respectable (failed attempt)😂
Lol. Sounds like Twitch things too, tbh. It's amazing how messed up all these companies are. Wanting money and allowing things to happen, turning a blind eye to bad things happening on their platforms/games. Sorry to derail. It's just so comical how companies are.
As a fan in so many other esports in many other titles I’m appalled by the blatant cheating epidemic in E7’s pro scene, I’m genuinely surprised the scene hasnt imploded yet. Imagine this shitfest happening in league or CS
not trying to say league is as bad as E7 in terms of cheaters, but if you go back in competitive history, the first few world cups have some major cheating happen that never got punished
Probably not. Does this mean Winterwish supposedly win that 'Loser Bracket'? Idk. It is just If poopest demands the title, winterwish and all the people that lost to Marg also gonna say hey I shouldve won that then?
I'm going to be honest, I say this as an Asian who's seen this all the time within our own spheres, cheating seems to always be present when it comes to anything that you can cheat in. At this point, just think that if there is a way to cheat, it's probably being done. And in some countries (*cough china cough*), the mentality is that "why wouldn't you cheat, you gotta do whatever you can to win and gain," and cheating is not thought of as negatively or unfair for other players. Unfortunately, we can't trust the player base to be fair with it, so SG does need to tighten how they monitor for cheaters and SG does hold some responsibility for this for having been so lax with their competitions. It really isn't even racist and shouldn't be a problem to point out the blatant cheating and disregard people have towards others. If Chinese players feel they have to band together to pressure companies to adhere to their illegal methods and cheating, then they are crap people and need to be called out by everyone. Problem is that every company cares more about money than reputation, and that's the thing with the Chinese market. Ripe for money at the cost of losing integrity.
While I generally agree with your points, I would like you to reconsider sorting people by countries as I know both cheaters and honest competitors within the same fucking apartment I live in. There are good and bad competitors everywhere.
Honestly, I can't even say that I care. Taking action now, is like a student turning in all their late or missing assignments on the last day of class. You can't expect to pass because you did what was expected of you after the deadline. I wish I could appreciate the fact that they are taking action, but the game is already over 5 years old and it's not going to suddenly have a resurgance in popularity. It's too little, too late. Idk how Marg is gonna pay that money back though, fitting punishment for a cheater.
I'm surprised SG even did this, it's their fault to let all this happen in the first place so I thought they've given up but hey, happy to see that they're trying still...it's better than nothing
On one hand it is very nice to finally seem them take some actions and consider their esport scene more seriously. On the other hand this is something many people, including you, have warned them about but they refused to acknowledge the concerns and this is the result. Could have been prevented a long time ago.
This is why I never liked E7 being turned into an esport. When there are prizes like 50k dollars on the line on top of other things, there will be cheating. This is partially SG's fault for making E7 into it. Yeah, it's good for entertainment. But overall bad for increased in cheating.
The real issue here is how the tournament using face cam instead of physically appear on stage. SW has long history of tournament but not many way of cheating because of it. E7 just don't have enough resources yet to make that possible
SG should've enforced the rules strictly for the E7WC on players to be able to participate in Korea or made it so the people who are at the top are able to go there before the bracket matches starts, as harsh it may be locking out players who can't travel should be able to stop most of the cheating from players playing at home and the finals are live on stage to stop potential cheating from happening.
I felt such disappointment what marguerite did, I was really rooting for him in the e7wc because he represents the jp server which I'm playing right now
As you said, without getting political, it's simply a different culture. For them it's more of a "use every means you can to get ahead" while the west is more "if it isn't done the right way, there is no honour in it".
@spy_balloon huh? I'm being critical of china here and you think my post is defending them? Or are you saying this is Anti china propaganda? Either way you sound a bit paranoid
@@Starxsword ikr. I dont know why people so angry over piloting an account.. Back then there is no auto farm, it is so fuckng tedious. It is not like the winner actually clueless and doesnt know the game mechanic/current meta.. Marg's case is totally different thing. He dumbass scumbagg for doing this kind of cheating.
It always rubbed me the wrong way how much effort SG put into wanting to fly their finalist to Korea and none of them took that offer. Could have been such a cool in person tournament.
Kinda funny that Marguerite literally tried to do to that guy what Huawei did to Jena (get help and then tell the guy to fk off afterwards). He would've gotten away with it too if he wasn't such a Scrooge. Also to the people saying it's like coaching, coaches can't coach you DURING the match. That's a violation in any sport.
Epic7 said they will just replace the ring description, I think epic7 should keep the lore and change the ring description to something disgraceful to remind us of this incident and reward everyone with a new ring for poopest victory.... not giving a new ring is kindda sad and makes SG look bad. Hopefully epic7 will reward poopest right.
I was Poopest all the way, and to find out that his victory was taken from him because Marguerite cheated feels bad. Poopest deserves his ring, his money, and his WC skin.
eSports ready 😅. Not expecting much for an indie company "integrity" streaming tournament on a indie tablet. But hey, they did the necessary action this time. Just give the title to Poopest, and do better next time.
They could fix it by making coaches mandatory. Smilegate sets a pool of coaches. All the coaches are E7 youtubers and they get drafted just like the heroes before each match. How many times will Jena get banned?
Dude is a scumbag for not giving $2k/$50k to the guy who helped him, but he did the same thing streamers do while playing RTA every day. The same thing plenty of people do in discord calls off stream too. That plenty of ya'll did while trying to qualify for E7WC. A lot of hypocrisy going on in this conversation.
They didn't say anything about who will take on the winner's crown or I missed it? Will it be automatically Poopest and it also means we'll get the Kise skin?
Can I ask one of the commentators to quote a rule from the tournament that prohibits any help? I really want to see what this rule looks like. I am really against this method of play, BUT if this rule was absent during the tournament, then there should be no punishment.
why does it seem like a stereotype for china players to be cheaters. It happens like crazy even on other games like world of warcraft. They created a cheating scripter/bot essentially for arenas and it can play on the same level as nearly pro players it's crazy
E7's "integrity" died when they can't nerf units due to monetary reasons, or having a "competitive" mode with limited units. New players can't even get Karina or her artifact, lol.
I'm convinced that the E7WC is just like WoW world first race, everyone in it cheats in one way or another, and just like in WoW, they know and ignore in an unspoken agreement
I dont think piloting an account should be considered cheating except for RTA and tournament, as most the ppl demographically are usually adults with time constraints who dont have the time to farm/craft on their own
China players cheating.. jeez.. couldnt have thought that would ever happen after, csgo, pubg, tarkov and basically any fps game. They should just host the WC offline.
Kinda surprised sg actually address this The sheer amount of cheating, RTA mafia, arena mafia, plus the game being horribly p2w, etc and i can name alot. I liked more they keep making them winner and didnt give us false hope
Pretty sure it is. It's been months since it's announcement, so she should be at least work in progress, maybe almost complete. Also, I believe that punishing the players for marguerite's fault wouldn't be a good idea for sg
Esports? Haiyaa, what a sad state of affairs How can an rng game be a sport lmao. There is ZERO SKILL in e7, it’s just who has no life (1k matches to of rta), or deepest pockets People need to play actual sports. But e7 has a large troon audience, and they don’t like physical activity. But trust me, play football (not handegg), baseball, basketball, heck even just run, and you will find it far more fun than a mobile phone app
