I thought that I would try my luck on the river Bann, close to my home in Tandragee. The river contains mostly coarse fish such as Pike and Perch but it also has a run of Salmon and Dollaghan( Lough Neagh migratory trout) at certain times of the year.
As it turned out it was a beautiful, tranquil evening with less of a flow on the river than I expected. Salmon and Trout are more likely to be caught in a falling flood. It was however, an interesting session which has piqued my interest sufficiently to make me want to have another go under better conditions.
I must apologise for the annoying camera noise during most of the video. The chest mount was creaking and groaning like a good'un and the securing strap of my landing net banging against it was just the cherry on the cake. I promise to take more care in future.
This stretch of the river is regarded as 'Free fishing' as no permit is required, only a valid Coarse or Game rod licence to keep on the right side of the law.
Enjoy the video and hopefully, I'll get back to the Bann soon.
Alistair.
