this is technically not a tutorial, this is just a quick down to earth video like before but this time its the original issue I was having before the deck died on me. so i hope you like it I am using the new audio format.

Thank you so much ! I found your advice just after changed AN6680 and the problem wasn’t solved! After just mooved the second transistor it work again! And I saved money!

Thanks for the fix (again) I have got 2 sl-1200 i got them for free from a DJ but they were battered like hell. when opening them up, i've found confetti, cola, dirt and god knows what else! I've fix them and cleaned them up using your great video's.

this is what my service job did to me. charged a new pitch fader but didnt solve the problem. i were really upset. no i know the issue and it cost maybe an hour and 1 €. Great video, great information even if this is not an issue on my decks (yet).

Cool video! I'm about to look inside my turntable electronics to see if some minor issues are repairable. I noticed on that in the area of the transistor for the 33/45rpm lights, if you notice there's heat damage (darkening) of the PCB. If there was shoddy repair of the components then it makes sense. Very good that you could get down to the problem spots and get it working again!

easy mate,. now i cant agree with everything there.. some things better be done in a service . in my 'death' case i had the deck after a party.. so i started stripping it and suddenly i found the small piece of power circuit board cracked off... well luckily it had only like three contacts... but i didnt have all these soldering accessories. So i glued n took the whole wired board to the repair. They did it for about 1.5 quid (here in Estonia) and actually gave me the heat sink paste for free:)

Thanks for the vid. You should change the title. This issue is called the run away platter. This is a common problem with the black models. I had this issue and I fixed it. I have to admit from another RU-vid channel. But this video it's much older. And if you had the right title you would have many more views. And will be easy to find this video. Thanks again viper. I am sure the other RU-vid video watch your video than he fixed his turntable and posted the video

If you wanted to increase thermal conductivity (depending on how much heat the motor controller puts out) you could fab a copper heatsink, or use micronized silver paste to increase thermal conductivity.

Love your vids. Given me the confidence to tinker if/when a problem arises on my decks. Keep up the good work!! Just a query, I'm thinking of also getting a Pioneer PLX 1000. Are the guts the same as the Technics. I know they bought the patents for a lot. Just wondering if I can go by 1210 vids, as PLX videos not as available. Cheers.

Dave Reffell Hi, probably too late but the PLX is heavily based on the Super OEM Hanpin and is hence very different from a Technics. There are a few videos around showing the differences between them and the general trend is that the PLX isn't as well made as the Technics. Hope this helps :)

William Maguire Never too late! Decided to buy a pair of semi-modded 1200's. Have had them powder coated so unofficially 1210's I guess! Have had lots of fun upgrading / changing bits & bobs including later model 1210 platters & complete tonearm assemblies, new coloured leds, lids etc. Ongoing hobby. Found 2 brand new mats that a guy on Ebay found in his loft complete with the original packaging for both. I think I've overspent to make any profit, but it's a labour of love! Next I'm after a wooden plinth to give at least one deck a more domestic look. Decided to give the Pioneer purely based on the wobbly tonearm issue. So glad I did! Thanks for your input & to all the guys, especially Viper Frank vids. Great help.

hi James, i have been following your videos cause i am repainting my decks...everything is going ok until i started reconnecting everything... one deck is ok the other one as the same problem you had on this video.... my transistor is also wobble like yours but if i pull it up or down or to the sides, nothing happends... keeps both 33/35 buttons lit, spinning fast and no light on the strobe.... could it be anything else or is this transistor for shore? sorry for my writing, great job and thank you for all your knowledge Nuno

Hey brother. I have a question. I get a smell coming from my 1983 1200 mk2. No leaking capacitors, no burn marks, no melted wires, nothing loose. Could it be the thermal paste on the heat sink ? And to remove heat. Sink do I need to pull th whole circuit board ?? Thanks brother.

Hi frank, i have a problem with my Technics Sl 1200 mk2. The Power Supply is Vibrating a lot, i can hear it from a distance and i can hear it in the speakers to. Id like to know if i can get a similar transformer or repair it. My technics work in 220v so the transformer should be 220v to 100v i supose but i dont know the frequency or the amp ?

Hey James, My Technics 1210mk5 main power is not turning on. But I can see the 33rpm light on but 45rpm is n and led indicator light on, pitch reset light is ok and turns on. What would be the issue??

Hi, i still have a problem with the left channel. During the play, the sound go to be dirty, after few minutes, it's running well, after few minutes it's back to be bruising. It's not from the cartridge, because when i replace with any cartridge and with any stilys there is no problem with the sound. Any idea? Please, help.

Hello, my 1200 stopped spinning on me during a scratch session, turns on but when pressing the start button , it does not spin any idea what could be the problem, I opened it to take a look but can't pinpoint the problem how can I tell if I need to replace a certain part like a an6675 or should I replace the whole motherboard? Hi my strobe light doesn't turn on only turns on the 33rpm but i can't switch to 45rpm because it stays on 33pm it doesn't spin and the other light that turns on is the green pitch light any help
