a man after my own Hart he knows his stuff I've been repairing SL for 20 plus years and it's good to see this young man give lesson in how to repair technics, well done.
Some how a was able to get 10 of them replacement parts for 6$ I had a short due to a target light wire loose But watching your vids I was able to fix it. Thanks again
Hi, I have problems with my two turntables. May I ask ? 1st// - I have a LAD GAJ-828 TT that came to my hands many years ago with malfuncted control board. This board is mainly for speed control and holding the indicators light on when buttons pressed. Serviced by a friend with all new IC's but still no good, i then messed it up further. So it was stowed away. Lately I took it out, came to an idea of just using its JVC M31046 Hall Motor board that features 33/45 xtal controlled speeds, and start/stop taps. It spins as it should. But the ST(strobe, i think) LED taps doesn't support the 33/45 speed check disc or the "single row markings" along the platter rim. I tweaked some pin-points with a LED, it fried, and maybe the C2001 as well. This Hall Motor MB has these ICs VC4046, VC5021, JRC 4558DD (5592) and a C2001(L249A). Now, my question is how could I make a strobe LED for the platter rim? 2//- my other TT is SP10-Mkii. The neon flickers, and sometimes not glows. How can I replace the neon by LED's? Could I have your reply with links so I can check back? Thanks a lot!
wow this is EXACTLY what im trying to do( add blue leds) your vids are GREAT...im learning so much from you ...thank you ...time to buy a solder sucker
@hytlerson thank you very much for your kind words I'm glad you like the videos. I haven't done any for you a while, hopefully going to be putting up some more videos soon. thanks again for your comment. nice one!!!
Hi James, would you consider doing a step by step tutorial for replacing strobe illuminator and 33rpm and 45rpm button LEDs, like the awesome stylus led tutorials you did?
Very clear thanks a lot!! But you haven't really talked about the LED's How can you check if the LED's were placed correctly? How can I find out if one of the LED's broke. Which one do I need to buy to replace one? I appreciate all your help!
I changed the Strobe lights to Green like yours. But I did an over kill for Stylus light. LOL!. I put a Voltage regulator LM7805ACT-ND to get the voltage to 5V and then instead of 68ohms resistor I had one of BP5275-33-ND voltage regulator which further reduces the voltage to 3.2V from 5V. Its looking very nice. Thanks again. ~ Ash
i changed all my LED with a special kit, and when i started the turntable, some smoke then i shutdown and try again, the turntable is ok, but when i push start button, my strobe led are going a little down and blinking too, there is like a intensity lost, help :( (i'm waiting for my dads mulmtimeter to test the resistor of the video) but can you tell me what it could be ? :)
if your led light up but don't strobe - check the chip AN6680. If I got it right - you don't get the square wave to "open/close" the base of the transistor. with the multimeter check the voltage (or frequency if the multimeter allows it)
NICE ONE!;) great stuff viper!! Hey, I got a question, I got a deck at home and one of the channels on it turns off/on whenever I switch position of the tone arm. Do you think it's a simple solder job or the whole thing should come out and be replaced? Its like, whenever it goes off, I pick up the tone arm and press it upwards so there's pressure on the lower part of it and the channel goes on. Weird.
Hello, congratulations for beautiful videos. I have a problem seeing the small dots, they are almost invisible, blurred, but there are. The 1200 works well. I also have a video. Please, help me,thank you
Hello Viper, Could you tell me the specs of the original LEDs that go into the strobe assembly? What is the mcd value? Voltage vf? Thanks, can't find that anywhere.
for the led bulbs to replace the pop up light... can i use the resistors that came in the leds package instead of trying to find a 68 ohms 1/8 w resistors?...i found some leds thats 3mm and under 5 volts between 3.2-3.6 v but i cant find any resistors that was in your other video!
Hey Frank, I've tried to replace the resistor and then I tried the transistor. My strobe light still isn't strobing. The leds light up they just don't strobe. Is there any other resistors or transistors I should check?
Help..My deck is disassebled...im in to deep,i think i fried my pop up light regulator(whats that smell ...poof)?...im NOT a electronics person but w/ your skills/info i can replace.. i want to change all my LEDs to blue(pitch control ,strobe,33/45, lights) if im correct they r LEDs...how do i get the correct value for replacement
Both are right. You cannot measure a resistor when it is soldered. But in this particular case there is is nothing in parallel. The resistor is alone except the LEDs. Because there is no current flowing through these, the connection is open. Frank knows this of course and he did not mention that you can measure a resistor on the PCB in general 😁😁 Good Video btw!!!!
