I saw an interview with Dave Grohl where he was talking about a "jam session " with Prince that ended up not being what he thought it was going to be. During the interview he said that it took a minute for him to realize it was his song because he wasn't expecting it. I don't recall exactly what he said about what he thought after realizing it was his song and said how can you not feel flattered if Prince is singing your song 🙂

Just read in the news today (March 26) that Taylor Hawkins, drummer in the Foo Fighters has tragically died at the age of 50. He died in his hotel room in Bogota, Colombia, while on tour. Taylor was a massive part of the Foo Fighters, he joined the band in 1997 and he was such a fantastic drummer. RIP Taylor, you will be very sadly missed.

Prince famously covered this song during his legendary Super Bowl halftime performance. The result was epic!

Evelyn here. The movie is already out! Also, Dave has a best-selling memoir out…which is wonderful.. he is an outstanding storyteller. Taylor Hawkins is the drummer and is in the top ranks. As both he and David have said, they are “brothers from a different mother”, and are very close. Nirvana was the most “punk” of the grunge bands, and it is that punk energy that Dave has continued, I think. I don’t care for punk as a genre, but watching the Foo Fighters live is just so amazing. You really need to watch some vids of their live performances…..Dave is one of those guys, like Freddie Mercury, who has the crowd in the palm of his hand. There is a video of the concert in Sweden where Dave falls off the stage and breaks his leg, but is able to get back on stage, with a doctor literally holding his leg together, and finishes the concert from a chair. It’s remarkable to watch. They just completed touring in the US I think……you should check for European tour…..I bet it’s coming soon. Perhaps you could go…

I love this song by the Foo Fighters. They have some great songs, such as Monkey Wrench, Everlong, Learn to Fly, Walk and Times Like These. The drummer is Taylor Hawkins, and he is a real Queen fan! They always play a Queen song in their concerts, usually the song Under Pressure, with Taylor on the main vocals and Dave Grohl taking over on the drums. I saw Dave with Nirvana. He sang backup to Kurt Cobain, and he was incredible giving it his all. Feel so bad for Dave because he lost Kurt and now lost his best friend and drummer of The Pretenders. RIP ❤

Dave Grohl is a great guy! -- a couple years ago a little girl challenged him to a drum battle and he accepted! I know you 2 usually react to more classic rock. But honestly the post-punk revival era of rock and roll music has so many great records and bands to get into just like the Foo Fighters. The Killers, Kings of Leon, Queens of The Stoneage, The Black Keys, just to name a few.

Agree with George, I prefer the "Pretender". Have you guys ever seen and heard a beautiful lady sing and shred guitar? Please check out these 3 that will blow you away. Seeing the Foo’s in July. The first time I saw Dave Grohl live was ‘92 when I was 18, with Nirvana. I got to again 10 yrs later with the Foos. And here we are at the 30th anniversary for me, I HAD to go! ✌️🎸🥁🖤

On the first demo released after Nirvana, Dave, wrote sang and played every instrument under the name of Foo Fighters. Dave has been writing #1 rock songs since. I love Dave Grohl.

Evelyn here. Dave worshipped John Bonham growing up and Bonzo had a huge influence on his drumming. the Foo Fighters had JPJ and Jimmy Page as guests for two songs in 2008 at Wembley Stadium. And Grohl collaborated with JPJ of Zep and JH from Queens of the Stone Age to form the supergroup Them Crooked Vultures in 2009/10 And all I’ve gotta say, George, is that is you like the energy of The Foo Fighters, then you will lose your mind at the energy of Them Crooked Vultures. They only did one album and a few tours, as many such collaborations go, so are not well known, but they might get together again. Dave is the drummer and back-up vocalist in that band. Just imagine Dave, as a drummer, matched up with JPJ from Zeppelin! According to JPJ……Dave plays “loud”. 😂. Coming from him, that’s saying allot.
