I was out there yesterday into the evening, having one last crack at the snapper before closure. Did quite well using orange 3.2inch bait junkies on a 1/4oz jighead on 8lb line. Sound around until you find a school, then spot lock about 10m down current. Cast the lure about 25m up-current, and let it work its way to the bottom. They'll usually hit it before it hits the bottom. If not, bounce the lure a few times before trying again. Seemed to catch pan to medium sized snapper while most boats around weren't getting anything. Chased some squid around the flats near SW rocks until the sun set, then anchored between the E cardinal and the Green after dark, and landed a few more snapper and a 1m jewie. Got snipped off by several tailor, and a couple of hammerhead's. Just kept a couple of snapper and released the rest. Most of what I've learnt about fishing around peel, has been from your videos. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge!

Thank you, you're welocme, glad it helped. I went into Horseshoe to anchor up about 8:30 last night, saw you anchored up out there. I was pretty tired after 14 hours on the water so I went into 2m of water so I had a nice calm sleep. I was fishing West Peel from the afternoon into the night, got smoked so many times and bitten off by big tailor, one decent one right at the net.

Another great trip. I like the way you hook the sabiki hooks together and wrap them around the rod for storage. After losing my temper too many time I finally bought one of those internal sabiki rig rods. They are great but take and up space in the boat but I love it. Where is the new rod?

Thank you. I only needed to get them snagged on something a couple of times to figure out a better way. I have got one of those hollow rods, I found that a lot of sabiki rigs were too long to store properly and due to the stiffness I didn't catch as much bait as I do with my Penn Battle II rod. I had both new rods out that day. I think the one I built was the one that caught the snapper. Silver overhead on that one.

Great catch mate. How come you rmuse the Hummingbird still?

Thank you. The Humminbird is linked to the Minn Kota. Also. it gives a very clear picture of structure on the bottom.

where about's do you go to get yakka in the bay?
@weFishAU

Lots of places. I can usually find some near where I fish. Curtin, Harries and West Peel around the artificial reef structure. Naval banks if you are fishing north of Peel. Rous Knob if you are fishing near there. The channel beacons if you are fishing further north. Not necessarily yakkas, could be herring or slimies but all good bait.
