My Monster Wild Hive was built on a pile of wood under a house. It's honey chamber was built on top of the wood pile. There was 400 pounds of honey standing there . The honeycomb measured 6 1/2 feet long, 4 1/2 feet tall and between 1 1/2 to 2 feet thick. .

You need to watch JP. Everyone has their own method I’ve just always watch JP I never knew nothing about the bee removal until I seen him. That’s where I heard about ED so I started watching him a few weeks ago. Just being up on a ladder like that.I would have figured he would’ve has his queen catcher with him. So something like that wouldn’t have happened is all.

Aloha Jeff and Charlie, It’s sure proof of our Creator’s handy work given to these loving little ones, our bees. Whether where I had worked them or in your backyard, so many thousands of miles away from each other, they work like a factory, to produce from simply nectar the honey and comb and make use of whatever space they can to build their homes. If we provide them a hive, they just jump into it,working and being happy.

I've been reading "keeping bees in horizontal hives" and that one piece of brood comb there in the middle had an almost perfect 'bullseye' of capped brood, just like the illustration in the book! (Trying to get educated this year with the plan of getting my first hive next spring.)

I'm betting that there is more comb in the attic and to the right of where the removal was. There was a lot of activity to the right side while you were vacuuming and removing comb. Also, there were bees entering holes in the wood where you were looking for the queen. I'm betting that there is comb up there too. Take care and God be with you.

I like your bee wrangling videos, but 1 question, why you don't you keep a queen catching clip handy? I've seen jpthebeeman has a clip on his collar.
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff 9 месяцев назад
I always have a queen clip close at hand, either very near where I'm working or right in my top pocket. In this video, because I had both my hands full and I was working off a ladder, I missed the opportunity to catch her. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Rajeev. Mr. Ed

Good Morning. A couple of questions. As a fellow beekeeper, I'm wondering how long this colony has lived there. Are you seeing feral colonies that have developed mite resistance? Don't those gloves make your hands sweat? I'd be pouring sweat out of my synthetic gloves after 30 minutes.
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Год назад
My guess was about 2 years. I think feral bees can and have developed certain mite resistance. Yes the do make my hands sweat, but it's not that bad. Thanks for watching and asking. God's peace. Mr. Ed

Question , how do you see what is a robber bee and witch bee belong to the hive ? Don't they all look the same?
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Год назад
A robber bee and a hive bee look exactly alike, after all, they are all bees. How to distinguish the two is by their behavior. A robber bees "act" nervous by being very flighty whereas a hive bee will behave as if it belongs there by landing and walk around unconcerned because they are familiar with the location. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. A Big Hello from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺. How do you tell the Hive Bees apart from the Robber Bees?. That was a Huge hive.
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Год назад
I'm always happy when I hear from someone in the Aussie contingent, I'm humbled that someone from so far away would care what a lone bee wrangler in Louisiana is doing. The way I can tell the difference is the way the bee behaves. Believe it or not, they act guilty by flying around the hive nervously as if they know they should not be there. The other way I can tell is by the mask they are wearing. Thanks so much for watching. Until the next one, God's peace Heather. Mr. Ed
