Another New Phoibos - The $239 Reef Master 

That watch looks amazing, can't believe it's so cheap. Really love the orange and black scheme and the clean look all around. Crazy horse leather is a type of leather that's been treated with wax. As it scratches it leaves a nice patina and gets a vintage look. It makes the leather water resistant. They call it crazy horse because it was used by saddle makers.

You have gotten me to buy TWO Phoibos watches and I must say, that I am quite happy with both of them, especially at there price point. I did buy their "WaveMaster" and frankly it is well worth getting. Good job on the video!

Well this has become one of my favourite watches for swimming in the sea and general knock about. I half expected the coating to show some wear but even under a loupe there's not a mark on it. I wear it with a grey NATO, looks the biz.

Love this piece. Phoibos has been on their game with the reef master.

I liked that more than I thought I would. I was expecting to like the Wave Master but I think this is better - they're clearly evolving as a brand.

I ordered the orange version right after seeing this review. It got delivered yesterday and I couldn't be happier. Quality is, as described in this review, really great. The crazy horse leather strap feels substantial but is quite stiff. I hope that it will soften up over time (I'm used to wearing my watches on Nato bands, so I might need to get used to this kind of leather strap though).

I also considered to buy this one, after I am really satisfied with my Wave Master (without any issue) IMO Phoibos offers a great value at this price range. Unfortunately the pictures on their homepage don't reflect the watch well - Ethan & Emily should get this circumstance under control!

This one looks great in DLC. Plenty of features for the price. Glad you finally got to review this model.

I blame you entirely for my Phoibos habit! I've had the quartz, skipped over the wave master but just ordered a stainless steel one of these! I will probably get a sub homage auto once they put the octopus on it!

great review! i have the wavemaster and have grown to love it despite not being able to size the bracelet and some time setting problems--the lume won me over. also have their new ronda quartz diver in blue--lume lovers will be satisfied! the reef master you reviewed is calling me too with that cool sandwich dial. i'm on the list for both helm offerings but have little hope they will make enough.....

Thanks for the review. I've decided to get a dive watch for my next watch but am not ready to fork out the cash just yet for a Tudor or Omega so am looking for a cheaper alternative. Considering this one and also the customizable aqua watch from another micro brand, Undone. Have you looked at or considered those watches at all?

Just ordered mine today from Phoibos Europe, just come back in stock. Can't wait to get it, this will be my 3rd Phoibos, so much watch for the money. Although one of my other watches will have to go. This is turning to be an expensive hobby. Helm Vanuatu next!

I ike it, it's stealthy yet "in your face" show off (especially with that lume). I think this model would have been benefited with a cyclops because that date window wich is disproportioned in comparison with the rest of the dial (I know, that would have increase the price), although I would rater prefer a No Date version. Nice review, congrats.

This watch should show everyone how overpriced and overrated the Skx007 is. For $60 more you get sapphire, ceramic bezel, hacking, handwinding seiko movement, and 2 straps. Step up your game seiko!! $200 for a chincy bracelet, hardlex, and 7s26? Please, we want an skx update. Seiko should be able to make a watch with the reef master specs for way under $300.

well thanks for the info, I actually brought one of these ( reef master) maybe a mistake. The Vanuatu kicks butt, but for the price the reef masters, is a bargain. I also got one of the invicta “glycine” and 48 mm automatic KMU with flat sapphire crystal..and a sort of custom movement. There’s not a lot of information on these large glycines, but they seem to be interesting , esteemed watches, plus “Evine live” has a good return policy. My watch buying binge started when I brought a 48 mm Swiss Legend titanium automatic. It’s supposed to have a Eta 2824 movement, all titanium, rubber strap and Swiss legends house sapphire crystal ...all for only 200.00. So far it doesn’t keep good time, maybe I over wound it....and the lume and watch face is weak. I can’t return it...plus now I have too many watches. If I learned about these other watch sites before hand , would have saved me a lot of trouble. The Vanuatu kicks butt....and the Phoibos watches reminds me of “Deep blue”watches...though less expensive. Thks

Great Review Just One More Watch. I really like the looks of the new Phoibos. I am starting to like these a lot more and more as I see them. I am a HUGE fan of sandwhich dials, it as sooo much more depth.

My blue wavemaster is great except that i needed a watch maker to adjust the tiny link screws on the bracelet for me.

This is a welcome edition clever move by phoibos , this watch is a good design to eradicate this wave master issues and it looks good too , great review as always I've been looking forward to this review 👍. Would I be right in thinking the price is also cheaper than they originally intended it to be or am I mistaken ?

Another great review, thanks! I'm really tempted by the blue/brushed stainless model, but the lack of a bracelet is a bit disappointing. These original designs are really heading in the right direction. Placing emphasis more on the octopus is a much better direction than with the previous amateurish logos. However, the terrible sans serif block type still needs to be redesigned to take the quality to that next level, it's just too similar to logos found on cheap generic electronics.

I just ordered one - the PY015C DLC Black. The loom shot of that model with the mix of blue and green lume was the detail that pushed me over the edge.

Jody...I just bought a Reginald submariner homage for about 35 bucks on amazon. It runs a Miyota 2115 quartz movement. I liked and bought several invicta sub-homages over the years from a TV shopping channel (wont name it) going back to the early 2000's. They've been good watches sturdy reliable good looking. Most were quartz with a few automatics when I had extra cash. But this Reginald is without a doubt just as good as the invictas at a fraction of the price. What say you sir? Lastly...I was hoping you could review an Aragon Charger with either automatic movement or the Sii smooth running quartz. I own the latter and love it but wanted your opinion. Thanks always Jody. Superior reviews of watches that make the working man feel like...a few thousand bucks!!

Crazeyhorse leather is leather treated with wax. It stems back to when cowboys treated their saddles with wax. You have learned something now

Seems to be a great watch for that price. Reminds me a lot of the recent Seiko Black Edition watches (Ninja Turtle and others).

I believe Boldr makes the watches in the same place, same rubber strap identical as well.

Been seeing all the other reviews and I think you picked the best color. The other blue is just too much blue in your face and I have the original blue phoibos sub. Which I still love. Hmmm should I get this or the blue Wave master.

Superb review...issues to consider bias toward dive watches...lets have some field, explorer type watches PLEASE! This is a superb value watch at US$239 - next point realising this is global medium I was thinking it was AU$ still $300 it's still a steal if that's your thing DLC and all. This is an amazing looking watch!

The Reef Master is the best watch that they have designed. That being said, here we are two years later and it has yet to be reissued.

Really nice to see that they have stepped up their game after the quality issues with the Wavemaster. This watch is much more purposeful and legible, not too mention the overall design is much better. But, am I going to get one? No, I would rather take the Borealis Portus Cale with CX31, think it is, lume, it is just a tad smaller at 41.8mm and that lume on that watch is just fantastic. So it is a decision made on overall estetics and lume, not necessarily performance. As the Borealis is running a Miyota movement which I have never had in any watch before. But if Phoibos continues to come up with original and great functional designs, I will be back.

I'm guessing it's the same factory that makes Helm.Seems hard to make a diver with some originality but they ve managed also and another one that I'll be considering when finally get round to making the decision ,Great to be spoiled for choice tho . ps Fell in love with and bought a vintage Sekonda diver other day that I'll never get wet, its quartz and got knocks and scratches but has the most beautiful and unique 80 s look I'll never tire at gazing at .Funny thing watches aren't they ?

Watching this again in 2020 because I bought one of these in the stainless with blue hands because I wasn’t paying attention when I bought it because I m an idiot. So I am coming back to look at the black and orange one because those are the colors of my hometown team and I miss home lol.

Well, I got my Phoibos reef master today. I was afraid it was a scam, but the watch finally arrived. You are correct. It’s a very good value for under 250.00. Great Lume. The Bezel ,welll...O.K. The watch bands are nice....It’s that name though “Phoibos” . They should take the “i” out. Call it “Phobos” watches. With the octopus symbol, this could be there “Cthulhu “ model watch.

Looks great, but too big. At least for me. 40 and under works, and it's thick! Anyway, I have the 006 and 007, no complaints after 6 months, so no qc issues for me. I am glad they're going in their own direction though, nice unique designs. 40 * 47 * 13 would be perfect.....for me, and as I'm often told, it's all about me. :) Thanks for the review.

Well I have their first quartz diver watch with the upgraded lume and a nice crazy horse leather Nato strap on the way and now I have the reef master on my list to eventually acquire. My checkbook is getting irritated with your channel hahaha

Beautiful watch but 22mm lug width and it sits too tall is a deal breaker for me. Domed crystal and NH35 movement is partly to blame. 40mm case diameter, with 20mm lug width, and around 13mm height would be just right. Longines hydroconquest 39mm comes to mind. Looking forward to the EAGLE RAY release. Supposed to have 20mm lug width and 41 case diameter.

Another diver watch on a leather strap. Does it comes with its own desk...desk diver... Get it.... I see it has a nh35 35 dollar movement too. It makes appreciate my Seagull Ocean Star even more. 28800bph in house Seagull movement.

Nice looking but unfortunately the lack of crown guards kills it for me.
