DISCLAIMER: This is not an endorsement.
For the record, I have people in my life that I love and respect that are supporting former President Trump in this campaign, and I have people I love and respect that are supporting President Biden. I also have people in my life that are non-political and do not participate in the political process. My post here isn’t to shame you or persuade you to change your mind. I respect your choice no matter what it may be.
This post is for those who may feel troubled or discouraged by the vitriol, personal attacks, and the overall conduct of the former President and the current President in Thursday evening’s debate. I want to encourage you with a couple of points:
First, according to a recent Gallup poll, over 60% of Americans now want a third party option and feel that the traditional two party options no longer serve the best interests of the nation. Although the current Zeitgeist is still locked into the seeming inevitability of the standard two party (lesser of two evils) option in this election, the tide is beginning to shift. The largest block in the nation are now folks who are non-aligned with any political party. Eventually, this block will begin to see that there are more than two viable options.
Secondly, In this election, there is a national candidate who also participated in Thursday’s debate from a different location. His name is @robertfkennedyjr . While you may not have been aware of his participation in this debate due to a designed lack of traditional media coverage, RFK Jr’s debate was viewed by over 9 million people Thursday evening. His campaign is the first campaign run by an independent to have gained significant national support and who will be on the ballot in all 50 states by Election Day since Ross Perot in 1992. This should be encouraging to those who desire to see the country eventually transcend the polarization of the two party system.
Regardless if you agree with RFK Jr’s positions on the issues, I wanted to share his closing debate remarks with you as he addresses the issues in a non-vitriolic and refreshing manner. Be encouraged and play the long game.
