Yes, but when it comes to the government it’s unacceptable. If a private company wants to do this that is their prerogative. They will suffer the consequences if they make a bad decision and it’s their money.

There’s already laws and ethics policies on the books that prevent nepotism and conflicts of interest. But with the wolves in charge of the hen house, nothing will happen.
It’s a family affair! It’s literally *insider trading* as these top dogs *create these positions* then inform their family members and friends to apply, conduct fake interviews for hire to make it seem legit but they’ve already decided prior to the shenanigans on who they’ve personally hand picked for the position.
That happens in lots of government jobs all the time. I have experienced this many times for city jobs. You can tell they are unethical because they violate FOIA laws. I caught one HR rep violating laws because she could not explain why she hired less qualified people over me. Now she is mad because I outed her for doing it.
these things wouldnt be an issue if the people in position were getting results. This leads to incompetency and crisis. I hope Whitmire's actions continue to make sense.
I'm a Libertarian, but I have high hopes for Whitmire. It'll be uphill, but so far he looks like a good guy to make the city better. Houston will never be Red, so you have to take the best of what you can get.

You need to do reports like this on sports. Some people make it off who they know and not how hard they actually work. A lot of student athletes have parents who are teacher/coaches and get played more than others. Some also have family members that sponsor teams and likely get more playing time because of it.

It’s funny because every major corporation receives public tax dollars and incentives but can hide the nepotism and favoritism in plain sight. Not to condone it, but that should be mentioned as well.
This happens all over the world. It’s very common to see companies hiring people who know someone within. I do it all the time. My small business is run entirely by people that I know personally or who was recommended by someone I know. I hired someone off the street once in my life. Never again. It’s always about who you know not what you know.
@@stevenrose2114 My wife runs my social media accounts and advertising. She never was big on social and never had any experience with marketing. I trusted her and she learned. It’s very common. You know someone and that’s all you need. You learn as you go. Extremely common scenario to be hiring friends or family and love ones.
The executive director at my org is doing this. We recieve funding from a govt agency and she is hiring all her friends at very high salaries… people in power just try and do whatever they want
