After noticing an odd "thudd" sound when I closed the passenger door, I took some time for some close-up examination only to find the glass window pretty much hits the side pillar.
Have you had the same issue before or something similar?
Let me know!

Happen to our Model Y Performance both front Windows. Got it fixed through mobile call out service takes 45 minutes for both side cover with warranty. You should get it done ASAP before Window cracks.

Great to hear! Has it happened again since getting it fixed?

If it's anything like my older Model S, it's a simple adjustment. ie, remove door trim, loosen the two clamps, reposition the glass. Years ago I had issues with my side windows not being flush to the B pillar, which Tesla were unable to rectify. I ended up working out what was going wrong and fixed it myself. I made a dodgy RU-vid video of the fix.

RU-vid saves the day! It's odd that the window can "loosen" or drop. Seems like a poor build quality part if it's popped up a few times for others too.

@@ZappedAU On the Munro Live channel I watched today, they mentioned something about how the side window (laminated glass) in the new Model S is attached to the winder regulator directly, so I guess it's different to my 2015 Model S. The speculate that the new M3 may be the same, but they haven't started pulling the new M3 apart yet. I'll be interested to see. Here's where they mention it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-20iGbWl46Tw.htmlsi=MqWiONgU6udOaqCb&t=367

Thanks for the link! I'll save it and watch it when I have time. I would like to think that they continue to innovate and that this is one thing they know has caused issues for many of their customers so in the long run, they will do it differently.

I had the same issue in my Model Y, was serviced last Friday in Melbourne and all fixed under warranty. Tesla also checked and strengthened the side of the car that was not the issue.

Great to hear! How long did they take for yours and was it just one side/window?

Thanks for the video. I wouldn't have even noticed until you mentioned it. I checked mine and have exactly the same issue on drivers side. Booked in for service.

Great to hear I brought it to your attention. Much better than having the experience of glass breaking upon closing the door!!!
@GabrieleBertaina

A common mistake of passengers is to use the window, instead the door, on handling the closing of door. The glass can gets misaligned.
@ZappedAU
@ZappedAU 5 месяцев назад
Understand how that could be if the window is used however we've never touched the glass to close the door. Seems perhaps it's just somehow got loose and therefore dropped abit from alignment.

I've just found out that I have a very similar problem on my MYP but on the driver's door. My car is also just over a year old like yours. Possibly a manufacturing defect in our batch? Time to book an appointment with Tesla. Hope they can come to me for this fix.
@ZappedAU
@ZappedAU 5 месяцев назад
Either a defect or just poor quality build as it's happened just past the 12 month mark in terms of the window dropping/sagging down. Seems to be somewhat a common thing!

Common (though hasn’t happened to me yet). You’ve been around the tesla groups on fb for a while now to see it happens and mobile service is able to fix it pretty quick under warranty.
@ZappedAU

Oddly enough, I haven't seen many of these issues on the Facebook groups (I haven't actively done a search). Either way glad it sounds like it's straightforward!

I'll have to check mine - never noticed this though. Hopefully you can get it sorted easily enough!

Thanks! Based on the comments here, it seems it'll be a quick and easy fix. Make sure you check when closing too! I found it heaps easier to see when recording on slow motion :)

It is a terrible pity that Tesla still has to pretend to be making "luxury" cars. You know what? Most people don't even want stupid luxury cars. Because it almost always means problems exactly like THIS one. There was no need for frameless windows. One look at how those operate makes it crystal clear that its just asking for trouble. Same with the insanely overcomplicated A/C system which has like 14 motors in it(best part is no part, right?) and which does not even work properly. Same goes for stupid full glass roof. No use whatsoever but massive amount of trouble ( heat into the cabin, costlier insurance etc). Tesla could have been so much more practical and reliable, if only they were not chasing "luxury cars" status. Get rid of all the pointless overcomplicated "technology", which only makes cars more expensive and unreliable. Maybe they need to introduce grades. So that all that overcomplicated, useless stuff goes only into the higher "grade" cars and only chosen by some people who are into that sort of thing.
@ZappedAU
@ZappedAU 5 месяцев назад
I think it's great at least they aren't specifically advertising that these are "luxury cars" because they definitely aren't. I agree with frameless windows. I think that it's a silly design just like how no one in this world asked for Digital side mirrors but now they exist!
@gtpete6363
@gtpete6363 Месяц назад
They have NEVER adverstised these cars as luxury. Get your facts straight before you start throwing Sh_t around,
@user-hz3eu5in
@user-hz3eu5in 26 дней назад
@@gtpete6363 Huh? Tesla famously does not advertise their cars at all. Not as Luxury cars not as any cars. I was talking only about copying some features from so called luxury cars for no reason. So I am not sure what you are on about.

Your first problem it's an EV. Your second problem you purchased one by choice. They have more problems that should have been ironed out before they were considered for release.

like which ones ?
@ZappedAU
@ZappedAU 5 месяцев назад
I don't think this being electric has anything to do with a window that got misaligned. It could technically happen with any vehicle that has frameless windows. Same comment as @Coyote.Five.0 - what problems are you referring to that should be ironed out before they release?
