TIRANA, ALBANIA: Riding the cable car to Dajti Mountain, exploring the Grand Park of Tirana & visiting the Farmers' Market Pazari i Ri - today I'm exploring another side of Tirana!
▶️ More videos from my ALBANIAN ROAD TRIP here → bit.ly/Albania...
The final vlog of my three days in Tirana and I'm heading over to the Grand Park of Tirana - unfortunately the weather wasn't on my side and the early morning drizzle turned into a storm whilst I was there. Still, I managed to take a walk along some of the scenic trails, past war memorials and waterfront cafes and onto a perfect little strip of land by the water where I flew my drone. This park in Tirana is a wonderful place to explore and really should have been further up my list of things to see.
After getting very wet I headed across town to Pazari i Ri Farmers' Market in the heart of Tirana, a colourful and intriguing outdoor food hall close to one of the city's oldest neighbourhoods. The place was busy and it was definitely an area frequented by locals rather than tourists, the streets and shops were hectic and wherever you looked there was something going on. Definitely a cool place and an authentic slice of life in Tirana.
From there I caught a bus out to the suburbs of the city and found my way to the Dajti Express - a cable car system that whisked me close to the top of Dajti Mountain National Park in under 15 minutes. Remarkable considering the distance covered is nearly 3 miles and the upper station is almost 1,600 metres (5,249 feet) in altitude. The views at the top were stunning - a reason in itself to watch my final Tirana Albania vlog!
The grand finale of my incredible solo road trip around Albania saw me exploring some of the city's harder to get to destinations and places that are not on the main tourist route. An alternative look at the city and a good way to spend you're second or third day in the capital city of Albania, especially if you want to get off the beaten track and see another side of Tirana.
Albania is an amazing country full of impressive sights, mind blowing history and a fascinating culture. Hopefully my Albanian Road Trip and travel vlogs have done it justice! Thanks for joining me and I look forward to seeing you in the next country.

Great to see Matt, I was in Tirana at the start of December on a trip through Albania and Macedonia, incredible trip, beautiful views but I must say Dajti is much better on a sunny dry day! The range up the top of the mountain usually has a guy with a gun where you can shoot balloons for 50 leke, it was very fun!

Hey Josh, thanks for watching! I bet the views on a sunny day are amazing, especially with the sun behind. Still, I consider myself lucky it wasn't clouded over completely. I would imagine things are a bit more lively in the summer, that balloon game sounds like fun - great price too. I would love to visit Macedonia, haven't made it there yet but it's on my list. How did you like it?

@@MattWhitingsEurope Macedonia was incredible, the towns of Gostivar and Tetovo are really cool, but the city of Skopje is the best city in the balkans I'd say!

I would love to do a road trip through Macedonia - it sounds like another stunning country in the Balkans. Thanks for the tips, I've made a note of them on Google Maps. If I'm in that area I'll stop by.

Matt, thank you for visiting my country and hopefully in England you will tell our story to your loved ones and everyone you know. RU-vid, seems to have done you a little injustice you're not getting the attention your videos deserve. Beautiful video and hope you will come back to Albania in summer time when I will be there hopefully. That bazaar you visited was completely different when I was there in 2003. So charming and truly representing the old world as we know it. It's funny you and many tourists have experienced Dajti Express and I an Albanian haven't yet! As a Liverpool fan will say shameful tha! Haha. So long my friend and just know that I sent Ipswich Town Twitter account a lengthy message which I hope has given them a little wake up call!

Thanks so much Al, I really appreciate you watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the trip. I'm sure I'll be back at some point - I would love to explore the north and south of the country, it all looks so incredible. Albania and the rest of the Balkans are a place I definitely want to spend more time in when this global crisis improves, sadly travelling is pretty hard at the moment but not impossible! You have to do the Dajti Express when you're next there, what a ride!! Got lucky with the clouds clearing at the end there. Thanks for the tweet to ITFC, hopefully they will listen to you, however if you really want to help you could send us a few loan players, I'd also appreciate Jürgen Klopp coming down to do a bit of coaching!! Thanks again for watching, stay safe and until next time...

@@MattWhitingsEurope Haha wish I had the authority to send a few loan players to ITFC. Yes, Klopp definitely can help. But, I sense something that soon enough you may see some good changes at ITFC and hopefully in a couple of years they will be in PL!

Hi Matt I hope you had a pleasant time in my country and have safe trip back to UK, hope to see you back in the summer because it would feel like it is your first time there because it has happened to me even though I'm Albanian but summer there it's a completely different story 👍

Great video Matt. Hope you liked and left Tirana and Albania with good impression and not as it is usually described in the UK as a DO NOT TRAVEL, DANGEROUS country.

Thanks for watching Vincent. You are sadly right in what you say to some degree, I can remember telling a few people I was going to Albania and they looked at me like I was going to North Korea. When I got back I showed them my photos of Bovilla Lake and Berat and they were amazed. I felt completely safe in Albania and everyone I met was super helpful and friendly. I will continue to spread the good word back here in the UK and point them towards my vlogs. Definitely one of my favourite road trips!

@@MattWhitingsEurope Thank You very much Matt. Glad you had a good time. Visit again in the Summer and you will see an entirely different vibe. Lots of things are changing now Tirana since you last there with new buildings and construction. I would recommend Ksamil for the summer and Gjipe Beach in Himare.
