@@John_II It's not a tax to make money. In fact what little of the money taken in (that is not paid out in rebates), goes to the provinces where it came from. The provinces can use it as they see fit. The whole point of the tax (and studies almost exclusively say it works) is to shift money to activities that don't produce as much carbon emissions. A very simple example might be - Johnny doesn't high speed his fuel guzzler down the highway as often - because it costs more money to fill his tank. Or, Jim and June decide to have their next car purchase be a hybrid auto so they pay less in gasoline costs. Or Jack and Susan decide to use the grants to install a heat pump to cut down on their heating costs.

As people age out of the workforce, especially trades, the younger generation should stop going to school for gender studies and useless degrees and get into actual jobs.
