Just wanna tell you that i really love your reactions to nct. You make it so entertaining to watch! If you got the time, you should also check out their Sticker Album/ Vampire repackage Album (with 3 More additional Songs from the Sticker Album). It's my most favorite 127 Album so far next to Ayyo Album and personally, it really shows the essential "Neo" sound of 127. The Sticker mv is considered iconic too but controversial for its experimental sound, so id say prepare for it 🤣

Love Is a Beauty (a ballad) is one of my favorites too. Good, but more experimental tracks are Cherry Bomb, Superhuman, and gimme. gimme. I know it's a lot, but it happens once you start listening to NCT. I didn't include NCT Dream, WayV or solo songs, for now. NCT got me into K-pop last year and I also like RIIZE (also SM), which has 2 former NCT U members, Shotaro & Sungchan.
the concept of regular is actually very interesting. it's actually a bunch of low-status boys talking about their aspires about the high-end. even though the lyrics are all about making money, being rich, but the music video is actually shot at places that the rich would not go, e.g., a cheap looking hair salon, a low key video arcade, overall a relatively crib-like setting, a lot of alley-ways, etc. and it has members looking up, looking at signs with a face almost longing for sth.
Now that you have heard the English version of NCT-127's "Regular, you should also check out NCT-127's Korean version and WayV's Mandarin version. And once you have done that, you should then look up the lyrics to all 3. If you look up the English translation of the lyrics for the Korean and Mandarin versions and compare them to the English version you will see that even though it's the same beat and the same title, the lyrics are different for all 3 songs. (The Korean MV is slightly different from the English version because the lyrics are different, so the story they are telling is different.) For example, like everything NCT does, it all has to do with some aspect of a dream. In the English version what you see are all things that people would dream are possible when they have all the fame and fortune in the world. I think it's supposed to be like they are characters within a crazy dream world. In the English version the tiger is used as a big flex to show that they are so rich and famous that they can even command the respect of a tiger. However, you will see in the Korean version the tiger is more of a symbol of courage and bravery, as a way to symbolize how they are working hard to be their best selves. For "Regular" Jongwoo has officially debuted as a member of NCT-127, so now there are 10 members in NCT-127. Fun fact: WinWin is the only member who is in all 3 versions of "Regular" because he is a member of both NCT-127 and WayV. (I believe this is the last MV, so far, where we see WinWin as a member of NCT-127. It was released in 2018 and WayV debuted in the beginning of 2019.) We see Winwin fall backward off the roof of that building and some say that was symbolic of how he was jumping out of NCT-127 in order to then land in WayV, as WayV was preparing to debut at the time. If you look up the lyrics for the Korean version you will discover that the lyrics for the English version of "Regular" are almost opposite of what they are talking about in the Korean version. That's why the album is called Regular Irregular. The English version is what I would describe as the cocky version of the song and it hits on the aesthetic of what appeals more to an American audience. The English version talks about being famous and having lots of money and still not being satisfied until they possess all the riches and fame. "Regular" is supposed to be NCT-127's U.S. debut so that is why they made an English version. However, the Korean version is what I would call the humble version of the song. The Korean lyrics talk about how they are constantly working hard and are never satisfied with the end result and how they hope to have the success that they always dream of, etc. -- which is what appeals more to a Korean audience. The Chinese version of the song also has different lyrics. The MV for WayV's version of "Regular" is about dominating in the technology realm and that is why in WayV's MV you see them as stock traders in the stock market and at one point they are literally inside a computer, etc. It's all about conquering the business world. "Regular" was technically WayV's debut song as well. You should really take the time to see what makes the 3 versions so different, besides the fact that they are in 3 different languages. :D It's really interesting to see how 3 songs can be created in 3 different languages using the same beat and feel, and yet have completely different messages. It just goes to show how diverse the music industry is and yet still so similar. :D
