Practiced after watching this and pretty comfortably pushed up to and above my low ceiling. Please oh please trumpet gods, let this be the breakthrough. 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Another great video for us Bob, thank you. It all makes sense and there is a lot to think about. That squeaky voice is a great teaching technique isn’t it? I’m going to remember this tutorial largely because of that, for the right reason i.e. reduced oral cavity. That's what you want us to do, right? Peter ps don’t forget to tell us if you’re visiting London UK in the near future. It would be great to meet up with you.

Thanks - that cleared it up ... I was holding the tongue at the bottom teeth and arching the centre of the tongue.. Truely horrible sound !. I know understand .. but it's probably too late in life to change the way I play... and I'm ok with doing a slow double tongue if I can't single tongue fast enough...

Nobody says how do you tongue/articulate with the raised tongue. What if you normally tongue by touching your upper lip, how do you raise the tongue level and still continue to articulate?

It's practice. You should be tonguing with the tip of your tongue, unless multiple tonguing. With the faster airstream when playing higher you just don't have to move the tongue as far in your mouth. It's the same method, you just gotta practice in the higher register the same way you do in the lowers. Get the metronome and start slow.

Tongue movements are related ro embouchure effort. The tongue is PART of the mouth mechanism which is an EATING machine. It is NATURAL for the tongue to move when achieving certain lip postures related to rejection of debris that is refused and not to be ingested. Seeds or grain of sand etc. "Focusing" of air is not actually required. The aperture is at the boundary of the air pressure enclosed. Attempting to "focus " by narrowing the path actually offers no benefit. It actually DOES reduce air flow and air pressure available to the lip aperture. Movements of the tongue alone does not have any direct influence on the pitch played. Ultimately ONLY the lip state controls the pitch played. All players including yourself and Sara Wills are doing concurrent lip changes in tandem with the tongue movements. Yes we DO tighten our lips to ascend in pitch.
