This really is a fun song!!! I watched the first Music Bank performance on Patreon and now I've been watching every live video I can find. The performance really takes it up another notch for me - similar to how LEFT RIGHT dance practice did! It's just contagious to see them having so much fun

I just love how the whole album has a different vibe for how you’re feeling that day. You’ll never get bored with it. As for the ear worm comment, I can’t get it out of my head every night and day lol. Help, I need help lol

For me personally the thing about "Shooting Star" and "Left Right" those are ICONIC. Either song should easily be up for SOTY (but because the "music industry" is what it is that will never happen). I always knew it was going to be an almost insurmountable task for XG to surpass those 2 songs. I think most people when they think of XG they think of those 2 songs (and Mascara also if they discovered XG earlier). New Dance i love though its probably in my top 3 or 4 XG songs now. The new songs and MVs are all amazing bop after bop every one of them but because SS and LR are the ones that really launched XG into true global recognition its an almost impossible task to outdo those. Its been an issue for 1000000s of artists over the decades with the songs everyone identifies them with

I totally agree with you. Shooting Star and Left Right really define XG to what they are today. Both are SOTY for me too.

Those songs are ICONIC. And it isn't just cuz they were my first (real) introduction to XG... though that is part of it for lots of people. First impressions count!!! But the songs & the choreography themselves are just unique and special in a way we haven't heard in music in a long time. They STAND OUT. New songs are good, but they don't all have that totally unique quality. SS & LR are never getting old for me!!! Haha

Cant wait for you to check out the documentary. It’s so raw and real. They went through so much. I appreciate that their first songs were so phenomenal and now they are taking time to release their B-sides and smaller hits because it’s hard to keep topping their greatest hits every single time but I love them so much. Lol and it’s so funny you said that at the end because my kpop favorites playlist is literally 26 hrs and 36 minutes lmaooo

@KpopwithKhadija - you noted in past reviews they would like something different than the hard stuff (GRL GVNG), so TGIF went EDM, New Dance went Pop, next one is going to be different! They purposed to sample many different genres in one Album!

I love that they're showing us different styles! It's really fun to hear this from them! To be clear, though, I think they've played with styles/sounds throughout, but what I wanted was a different THEME. Every song, including GRL GVNG & TGIF has been "we're the baddest bishes, we're so fierce, we're the best, watch out for us, we're gonna win, we're gonna be on top, Thank God We're so Fly, etc." New Dance is the first song that just feels like they're having fun, without needing to prove anything - and I love it! 💚

I met XG through tippy toes and as you can see they have always presented something different. If they had stayed with a formula, they would be criticized for their obvious monotony, as is the case with Blackpink, another group that I also met at the beginning. the diversity that it shows from a simple song to one with greater meaning and most importantly the special touch that impregnates each song is the best this group can do and it is the genius of Simon. The most pleasant thing is to enjoy the music and not seek as listeners the success that is only the company's concern.

Okay I honestly WISH I had discovered this group right at their debut! I'm so jealous you got to take this journey with them!!! But, I'm kinda low-key happy cuz I got to binge ALL their first songs back to back 😅 And that was pretty fun too! They're definitely giving us diversity and especially these last few songs - switchin it up!!

Okay but wait! Why did I literally just have that moment?! I could sing the chorus of Left Right but every time I tried to remember how it started, I automatically was like "Everything I do, I do it A1, FLAWLESS." And my brain totally glitched cuz I couldn't remember the actual lyrics!!! Hahaha I got it now, though. Don't worry! Lol. My fave song switches everyday so I just gotta memorize em all at this point 😅

Are they KPOP XPOP JPOP or POP - Yes. Doesn't really need a label or category really - humans like only do that to put things in a box or into something we know. XG is not in a box, and something new so ok to not fit cause they are a bit of everything and good it it all! Cocona’s lower soulful tone is great, and she’s a top rapper and dancer too - all out maknea ace! Harvey unique voice and rapping add so much to this distinct XG sound! Maya’s flow is unmatched.

That's a good way of putting it!!! And I agree - rapline is so amazing in this group! They each have such unique and interesting tones and it makes the whole group stronger! We love our manager ace though!!!!!!

As I've stated in other places, listening to a new XG song reminds me how I used to feel each time OutKast released a new album. You subliminally have somewhat of an expectation of what you are going to hear but they come with something totally different, that you spend your first listen trying to figure out what you are hearing. Git up Git out sound was different than Elevators, which was different from Rosa Parks. That was followed by B.O.B. which was totally different again and yet me tell you I didn't know what I was listening to the first time I heard Hey Ya. Cocona going viral brought me to XG and the Xypher was the first thing I heard. So I caught up with them then with Tippy Toes and Mascara and with every song they have released since I've had to get used to another sound. To the point that I'm usually just trying to figure what sound I'm hearing my first listen.

this is how i feel listening to gorillaz who are one of my favorite artists and because of that i love when artists are willing to switch it up each song or album and bring something new it's very refreshing to me and it's fun thinking about what the next thing they put out will sound like

That's such a good comparison!!! I TOTALLY felt like that with Outkast, and I loved them for it!!! (Also, nobody expected Hey Ya hahahaha We were all so confused, in the best way). But yes, XG is definitely giving a little bit of that "what's this now?" feeling with their comebacks

ME TOO!!! I watched Music Bank in my Patreon reaction and I've been watching every live performance that pops up since then. The live choreography really makes me love the song even more (which is what happened with every other song so far except TGIF... It's the dance that makes me obsessed)!

It took me a minute to warm up to TGIF and New Dance, but my god once they hit me, I couldn't stop singing them. Reminds me of my ult group NCT, they're always going to give us something fresh and different, and it might just take the brain a second to process. lol I heard someone call them Xpop and that just makes sense to me. 😂

You know what, I liked both songs right away but they really did still grow on me even more!! They're just so fun and catchy! Hahaha yes, like NCT... you never know quite what it's gonna be but then your brain is like "Wait... I like it!" haha

I think one of the reasons this doesn't hit as hard (for others, coz i personally can't get enough XD) is the fact that Shooting Star and Left Right set the tone for most of the fandom. And for me, it's not about making bigger hits, but trying to understand what it is XG is trying to deliver or trying to convey with this mini-album. If we measure this mini album with what it's not intended purpose, then it'll definitely fall short of expectations. I really hope the fandom can also stop being so aggressive about how different people react to their songs. It's okay to not like it, as long as they aint clowning on it, that's fine.

Yeah, SS & LR really did set the bar so high for them! I think any group should have the ability to offer a range, but there's just an extra magnifying glass on them cuz the first songs were SO massive and they got SO popular really quickly. It's just impossible to not compare, to a degree. Like I said in the video, that's gotta be so much pressure for them and their company. It will calm down soon, though, as they keep establishing themselves. I do agree that fandoms need to calmmmm downnnn a lil bit though haha

Not sure what your audio settings are, but I’d recommend wearing a headset to hear the base in this song - To me it sounds so much weaker when played on the phone / laptop speakers

It's different, for sure! I think I said this in my GRL GVNG reaction, but I understand why they gave us hard-hitting first then switched it up to something more soft & fun - if it was TOO different from the bad gyal tone XG set with their first songs, people would have complained about it being "weak." So I feel like they gradually eased us into this different vibe. It's kinda smart, from a music marketing perspective lol. What do you think?

FYI: For those saying XG is not K-pop are incorrect. K-pop isn't defined as Koreans doing pop music. From K-pop's start as a counter to J-POP, who they noticed were not reaching beyond Japan. Kpop's goal was to be "International." So K-pop evolved to be, not the nationality of the members, but intentionally, a TRAINING and MARKETING METHOD. That's why SM, JYP, and others hold auditions in Australia, the USA, and other countries. XGALX company was started by a corner kpop idol. He has trained the trainees in the kpop template, including actually training them in S. Korea at kpop training camps. (Watch their documentary series). This goes for BLACK SWAN also. **A note about some of the fiction between S. Korea and Japan and their business dealings. I'm no historian but Japan and S. Korea has had a bad relationship. It's getting better, but there is still animosity there due to things that happened militarily, such as occupation, etc. So yes, XG, BLACK SWAN ARE KPOP.

in disagreement. as it says, just as kpop is based on jpop, so XG takes a part of what kpop is and begins to modify it, therefore seen in the future and as its creator plans, they are something different from kpop in their own way to make music.

KPOP is not genre, its just only Pop music sung in the korean language, US/UK pop music is POP music sung in english language. in other words, it's just Pop music afterall its not that difficult to understand.

Honestly, I agree with you completely. K-pop is more than a style of music or singing in a certain language - which we see by all the k-pop songs that are different styles AND languages. K-pop is an industry, which includes the training system and specific promotion. XG is part of that. And it's okay to admit that! Haha. They can be different from k-pop AND part of the k-pop industry at the same time! But people don't want to hear that hahaha 🤷🏾‍♀️

@@denyallow6271I don't know if k-pop used the j-pop industry to launch though. Did they create something new by living & promoting in Japan and fully immersing themselves in the j-pop industry before eventually branching out? Cuz that's what XG is doing with k-pop...
