It's important to understand that part of what made Cyberpunk special is that it was made in poland, by polish people. It's the mixture of cultural backgrounds that makes the end product special. Infusing european bits and pieces into an American universe makes the thing unique. It's the same thing that makes Hideo Kojima's games special. He mostly writes stories set in america or with american protagonists, but infuses the whole thing with japanese culture. Don't lose your polish roots. They're what makes you great. Be proud of your background and embrace it. That's how you stand out.
Great point! Thankfully we have most of our Polish Directors and Leads in US, moved with one specific goal: to make this game. Key people making decisions are the same group that did patch 2.0 and Phantom Liberty, hope this knowledge brings you any peace my choom!

The sequel really doesn't need to be sucked into the American political pushing; the wider commentary of Cyberpunk's dystopia was virtually perfect, even when touching on touchy subjects like religion. It was the most immersive experience I might have ever had in a game. I hope CD Projekt Red keeps to the core that pushed it all through the Witcher series and doesn't fall victim to the same thing that has happened to so many modern studios. Best of luck team!

Phantom Liberty was absolute perfection, and i pray that its just a taste of what Project Orion will be like- particularly map density/design was much better, cinematics, story, gameplay add ons / changes, soundtrack, and everything else was just so good to me it went from a very good game to one of the greatest of all time. i wish Project Orion wont be set in Night City, it would probably put Cyberpunk 2077 to shame and there should be more equally interesting cities in this universe. It would also prevent franchise/setting fatigue but to be honest i think it will still be set there...

The best thing about cp2077 was that it was what polish devs in europe think it should look like. If you hire a bunch of us devs that make the game look "correct" you lost exactly one of the distinguishing factors. RedEngine had the same effect, using ue5 will limit them in ways they don't seem to comprehend.
Have in mind please your Polish chooms are most Directors and Leads we have moved to US, me included, to make this game for you. We will do our best to make sure we are doing it better, not worse. It's weird how many devs didn't know a lot about cyberpunk genre, the theme and it's culture. Philipp Weber and Borys also talked about this "issue". And then somehow, they made the best AAA cyberpunk game. Can not wait what they're cooking next, especially in Unreal Engine 5.

The singularity of your games and their unique narrative made them masterful. I keep my fingers crossed for Boston team, Paweł Sasko and the whole company, but at the same time I'm a little bit worried that the game developed by US developers in Unreal Engine will be just one of many. I think one of the most important reasons why Witcher 3 and CP2077 were (in the end) successful and well recieved is that these games felt different, fresh. And yes, maybe people you hire in Boston are more experienced and maybe UE is in many ways better than Red Engine. But will you be able to maintain the identity and heart of your games, will the original feeling of CDPR games still be there? I hope it will and I wish you well. I just think it's a huge challange. I’m particularly worried about the move to the USA. You have a unique way to make games, they are, sure, diverse and inclusive but I did not feel DEI and/or sweet baby inc were the driving force like many games in the US have now been forced into. am really worried that we will see witcher being made for a "modern audience" that will ignore the books completley and take insperation elsewhere, however i can't stress this enough have all your people that work on witcher read the books thoroughly, because certain usa game developers want to push one thing only and they often ignore the source material completely and create their own which dosen't make any sense at all, because they are more focused in pushing their own thing and not focused on the storytelling of the game.

So many things you can do to make things fun and long-lasting or replaying. Instead of social wars and trash/disposable societies. A.I. and warfare, hacking, coding, agents. Pavlovs humans ( biochemical imprinting) and social media and low information and brain rot. Social constructs vs biochemical. So many possible ways to go. I have experienced it as a client and active member in the official forum. It has been a brutal experience, I have experienced the best digital experience in a video game with Cyberpunk 2077 (I enjoyed it from the first minute), I have experienced the sad feeling that it could be better and there was a city that had been wasted. I animated, defended and promoted debates looking for CDPR to continue developing this game. I lived the passion and dedication of the developers to make Cyberpunk 2077 the best possible version on an unstable engine. And I have been able to witness how CDPR has made Cyberpunk 2077 a video game full of love, enthusiasm, talent that we can enjoy and that will be remembered by everyone. You have known how to face the pain and you have exceeded your limits. Remain humble, remain passionate and I hope to be able to enjoy the new Cyberpunk game. After playing over 3,000 hours if there is one thing I would add to the game which I believe everyone wants is “ Gang reputation “. A deeper interaction with factions that changes the main plot or subplot arc of the experience. It’s great to see this team still pushing themselves to achieve something great
Just set the right expectations. If Cyberpunk was never advertised as being an RPG that has a deeply branching story with the most realistic/simulated city ever etc. it would’ve been received better. Set realistic goals and then the expectations will also be realistic.
Thank you for these podcasts! It was good to see Pawel again after the break taken from the Sunday's streams! I have enjoyed CP2077 since day one, being the first game I have pre-ordered in my life. I had the feeling things were missing from the game, but it didn't detract me from enjoying the game even when playing it at 25-30fps. It was also the only game I had Platinum by 100%-ing it. My current PC can't run the game with the new content so I had no chance to experience the expansion yet, but seeing the game becoming a staple for the industry, I'm sure I will be able to enjoy it in a few years too, rediscovering the masterpiece Night City is. Thank you for your work to all of CDPR team!
Personally I believe that Slavs (Poles, Czechs, Ukrainians..) make currently many of the best games on the market and most unique ones (Witcher, Cyberpunk, Kingdom Come, Metro, STALKER..) and while setting up new studio in US might make business sense, I am worried the future games from US based studio will miss that slavic charm. There is something about our sense of humor and lack of boundaries that americans just lack. Not to mention the current day insanity of culture wars, so much stuff in US and western europe in going in the wrong trajectory.. That said, I hope to be proven wrong and hope future Cyberpunk game will be just as great as 2077.
My choom, most of the leadership from Director to Lead level are your polish (mostly) chooms from CP77 and W3. Hope that this makes you a bit less worried!
