Well this was a big one! As I say in the video, this is not a comprehensive "how to pass Grade 5" video but I try to go through my process of answering a new ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory exam and explain the breakdown of sections and questions. Apologies if any of it doesn't make sense or I go too quickly (also if I make any mistakes!!). I am assuming that you go into watching this with a base knowledge of rhythm, scales, intervals etc.
This video isn't in affiliation with ABRSM but I use the practice exam from their new G5 theory book if you want to get it to refer to. Also, the final section refers back to an excerpt of music. I tried to have this overlaid in the video but it killed my laptop. I will put a picture of it in my "Community" section to refer to.
One quick correction - When I'm talking about the sharps and flats I say that you don't really need to learn key signatures of 6 sharps/flats but I meant SEVEN sharps/flats! 😁 Also, 3.5 is a v tricky question for three points so give me a shout if you want a further explanation.
If you have any questions/queries/corrections/suggestions then PLEASE do let me know your thoughts in the comments. I'd love to see them! In the meantime, enjoy and hope you find this useful. The piano music at the beginning is part of a piece I wrote called Blossoms.
