Your comment on Bo Burnham was the most nuanced take on the special that I've seen so far. I came away from the special understanding it was brilliant but feeling hugely uncomfortable and I didn't have words to express why. Thank you for being constructive and critical in the ways that you analyze media and this definitely piqued my interest on the possibility of more serious content from you.
I totally agree. I like Bo's work, he's very intelligent and good at what he does, but he also makes me uncomfortable, and it's hard to express that. Daniel gave me a way of expressing that a bit better, and it helps because most of the people I know who saw it said it was the best thing ever, and I'm not sure I agree, even though I loved it? It's such a complex feeling
Yes. I loved the special because it was genius and art, ut it was also SUUUUUJPER HEAVY and I am glad that I watched it with another human instead of alone because it was a bit of a crisis trip. Daniel did say it well
I've felt the same about it, I think for me it's because of the time we're in, which I think most would describe as the worst time to be alive in the last like- 10 years, lol. So having that feeling continuously battered into you doesn't really feel great, even if the presentation looks nice and is honest about things. I think we're so used to dealing with self-hate and self deprecating jokes that we've become to realize that those jokes are just sad and instead of continuing to make those jokes, which is what a lot of Bo's humor is, we're beginning to want to change and better ourselves instead of just sitting around hating ourselves and our world.
Bo Burnham is meant to be a comedian. Comedy specials are meant to be comedic. Bo's comedy special was just not very comedic for me. It was emotional, but it never really made me laugh. It looked cool, and the songs were great, but I don't think they served their entire purpose. That's just me, though.

I have to say that I agree with you completely on Bo Burnham in the facts that he's a musical genius and a very funny and talented comedian. However, I don't like how unnecessarily cynical he can be and I personally prefer your more lighthearted and fulfilling humor over his. I can be cynical and jaded, sure, but I'm an optimist at heart and I always try to look on the bright side of things. Bo doesn't encourage that like you do, which is why I'm subbed to both your channels and don't follow him at all. I also think that the fact that you keep things upbeat, lighthearted, genuine, and just genuinely funny is why you have such a great and diverse fanbase. You just put good and humor out into the world and everybody can get behind that, as long as they're not total dicks. I've always found that breeds a community (there's something to call us instead of fans, if you prefer this word) that is overwhelmingly wholesome and decent. I love your content. I don't care that this isn't a gaming vid. It's Daniel Thrasher content and that's really all I care about.
I'd say really depends on the person, more pessimistic ppl would probably enjoy more Bo over Daniel and the opposite like you said, but I don't think you can compare them too much since at least rn they are doing things for different kinds of audience (light hearted and cynical)
I love when Leigh says "my friend directed that game" and Daniel says "lets get THEM in the tub!" No assumptions made on gender. A truly good and intelligent human

I've only just discovered this amazing artist. I stayed up all night to watch all of the uploaded videos even though I had to work in the morning. Then I found this second channel. I'm sad that I didn't know you before, but oh have I come at a glorious time.
