Also for the mamas who need to hear this...I actually feel there is so much pressure TO put my LO in daycare. I work from home and take my kid to my family business. Yes it's hard but we are not doing daycare rn. People ask me nonstop if she is in daycare or when I'll be taking her. I guess it can be a sensitive subject like breastfeeding and all the other things people have opinions about. Thank you Nikole & Matt for sharing so candidly. ❤️

So thrilled to hear you talk about daycare! There can be stigma behind it, but it’s also a necessity for so many. My husband and I both work full time. Our lil guy started at an amazing daycare at 6 months old. After 3 months of working and caretaking, I felt so discouraged and distracted. Now that he’s in care, I share your feeling that it is so enriching to pick him up and have both parents be fully present - even if it’s fewer hours of the day, the quality of time has soared ❤

For the longest time I felt ashamed to have help even though for most of Sage's first year it was just Matt and I balancing work with parenting as I didn't have a mat leave. Not only are Matt and I better parents with the help but Sage needs the learning, socializing, etc that daycare brings. She's been thriving since we had her go and its been nice to cherish our evenings and weekends even more.

That was my thought process with having baby #2, so we started trying 1 year postpartum. I’m also 35 (not that it should matter) but felt a bit more urgency to try sooner. I’m due in May & I think 2 will be it for us😊 Honestly though, there’s no right or wrong way of going about it, it’s whatever works best for you & your family- which is a very personal decision.❤

I don’t think that anyone should be shamed for sending or not sending child to a daycare.Everyone has different life circumstances and different mental capacity. However I don’t agree with reasons that you guys have mentioned that daycare offers better opportunities than home such as socialising. Babies have no need to have peer interactions until at least they’re 3 most likely 4. Also you mentioned that Sage shared things with others and developmentally babies cannot grasp this idea until they’re 4/5 years old. Also better behaviour comes from the fact that home and parents is most of the time their safe place hence the tantrums and big feelings are not happening in the nursery but left for parents when they come home. Just my thoughts from early child development research

Burnout can get in the way of bonding with your child, from someone with an estranged relationship with their mother who worked all the time but close relationship with a father who was able to be around all the time. Me and my mother are reconnecting, and this isn't meant as judgement at all 💞 I didn't learn about burnout indepth until recently, it's been an eye opener, especially with reducing stress, setting healthy boundaries, and compassion

I wanted to pause the video to say it’s comforting to hear that it’s normal to feel like you and your partner are “roommates”… 😞 We are trying to navigate that with an almost 6 year old and a 20 month old. And is both working. It’s hard to have the energy to give to another person when you are touched out… but I also remind myself that these moments and days are fleeting and to not forget to take care of yourself and your partner… easier said than done but I recognize that and I feel that is half the battle so… ❤️🙏🏽
@HealthNutNutrition
@HealthNutNutrition Год назад
I use to feel guilty and embarrassed about it but I think it’s a very normal stage. It’s better to recognize that every day, week, etc is different and your romantic relationship may not always be top priority. It doesn’t mean your love for each other has faded it just changes. I do think it’s important to have dates, make time and communicate.

Love that you said that a lot of it came naturally to you or felt natural (even with challenging days). I felt the same but sometimes(oddly enough) it feels like it’s not ok to say that. As though it’s only supposed to feel difficult and unnatural.

I hoped people didn’t take that the wrong way so I’m glad you received it the way I intended. Yes a lot of things can be hard but there were also a lot that came naturally and without challenges. Such as breastfeeding has been a great journey and I think it’s important to share positive sides as well.

From experience, be prepared that, at that age, they tend to pick up a lot of colds and things and bring them home Toddlers still put hands in mouth a lot and then touch toys and then other kids pick them up. Another option may be to find a sahm that has a couple of toddlers.

I also can't have another one and it is kind of funny when people ask if I am going to have another one. I realize it's just a natural inclination at this point for people to ask, nothing personal at all. There are people who judge, but those that do judge are not important at all and have their own issues with following their own desires and not the expectations of society, maybe because how they were raised which formed their biases and keeps them feeling safe and secure idk.

I currently have two kids under 2 (😵‍💫) and I think it's a matter of intensity. We are having a very intense time now after having a pretty good routine with just 1 baby. If we had waited a little longer between pregnancies it might have been more years but at a less intense level. Either way the second is easier because it's not a guessing game! You'll be pros!

It’s funny when you two were talking about a 2nd kid because in my head “everything is perfect. We are sleeping. We have a routine” means LETS HAVE ANOTHER NOW! to me. Lol Just like the lack of extreme stress and unpredictability makes me question if now is better vs even later (I have a 19 month old). I don’t think there’s any right answer. I think it genuinely comes down to what you guys know you can handle and where you are in life. And how far you want to put off the inevitable if you do want 2. Lol

After listening to your story, i feel like putting my son to daycare but i am feeling guilty like should I? I have a full time hectic job and a business. Though i work from home, things get so overwhelming on most days. I have deadlines to meet and my 2 yr old continuously asking for attention. We have a nanny too but is of not much help. My son hates her and i end up doing most of the things. So the end result is neither am i able to do work properly, neither being in the moment with my son. And romance with my husband, that's like some historical thing that happened once upon a time.

Part time or half day daycares can be wonderful options to free up some time without committing to full time daycare (5 days a week). It can be less stressful for the little ones as well, and then you can increase the days or time spent as they get older close to 3 or 4 years old. Not sure where you live, but a lot of daycares offer those options. Home daycares with part time slots are also a great option, since they tend to have less children, so each gets more attention from the providers. Just ensure that they are licenced or follow the local laws and standards. If you choose a childcare centre also check if they follow the local ratio of educators to children. In Canada, the ratio is 1 provider for 5 kids for toddlers. Also look for ones that don’t have a high turnover, because children start forming attachments to the educators and it’s not ideal if they change all the time.
