I took the “bus” from Simpson Bay to Maho Beach on the suggestion of a cashier from a shop. I had to be convinced how easy it would be. One bus and it was pretty much the same as the taxi ride I took to get there. I only had a backpack with me. It’s probably impractical with luggage. I told the driver where I was going right away so I wouldn’t be nervous about missing it. It reminded me of of a dollar van in Brooklyn or a maxi taxi in Trinidad.

The best massages I have had in SXM are the ones that were impromptu on the beach. The best massage I had in Anguilla thanks to your recommendation was JEPUN SPA! The foot reflexology was healing to my entire being. Thanks for sharing all these gems.

Impromptu massages on the beach are great if done by someone who knows what they’re doing. Glad you liked my Anguilla recommendation. They are great indeed

Hi Riselle, Your vlogs are awesome. We will be in Grand Case Feb 15 to 22. Can you share your thoughts on things to see and do during Carnival on the French side?
@TheTravelingIslandGirl
@TheTravelingIslandGirl Год назад
I will be doing a vlog on that next month. In the meantime, you will get to enjoy the Marci Gras of Grand Case every Tuesday night.

Riselle I'm catching up on your videos... Thank you for your transparency (as usual). Now I want to visit Statia. About the bus, I mean if you are on vacation, you might not want to spend your precious time waiting for a bus since there is no schedule 🤣. That's my opinion. ps: me too I don't like massages.

Hello, hope all is well! Have you ever done a video about what to expect while visiting during carnival?
@TheTravelingIslandGirl

@@shaqwilliams7895 not yet but I have a blog post or two on the subject. I will be filming a vlog of this year’s carnival activities though.

I'm so happy to found your channel and videos before my trip (in April) to St Maarten and I must say that in a short period, I whatched many videos to have more information from the island - and they are been so useful and I want a thank you! I'm from Brazil and looking forward for my trip! Well... since we are in a Q&A video, I will leave a question... I'm wondering how the "drink & drive" thing work in the island. I know it's not legal and not nice to drink and drive because it's too dangeours, but since we are enjoyng a great beach I think it's "normal" to enjoy one beer or one drink during the whole day (and I'm sure that I will not be over the speed limit). The same for the dinner... Eventhough I'm trying to rent a place near the restaurants and the night live to avoid this kind of situation. :) But again, thanks for your videos!!! They are super useful and you are so nice!

Obrigado, Eduardo. Yes, of course: drinking and driving is illegal in paradise too but your question in a really good one. You can have one or two glasses and that is considered ok for driving. If you do feel like having more, I advise you to take leave the rental and take a taxi.

Awesome! It helped me a lot. For dinner, I'm planning to stay in Pelican Key (near Simpson Bay) because it looks like to be full of restaurants and places to have a nice meal, but I must confess that Grand Case is, somehow, calling me. Any advices?
@TheTravelingIslandGirl
@TheTravelingIslandGirl Год назад
@@EduardoMartoni the good thing is it’s a small island with open borders. Rent a car and explore restaurants on both sides of the island.

Can you please do a tour of all the churches on the island?
@TheTravelingIslandGirl
@TheTravelingIslandGirl Год назад
There are not as many beautiful churches ad on like Aruba or Curaçao here. But perhaps I’ll show some on my Instagram instead.

Hi Island girl, we made it to St Maarten on Thurs. we love the crapes at Paradise view if it is still open, but I forget which day it is closed, do you know? Also what is the name and location of your husbands restaurant? Thanks Paul and Brenda

I think the place you’re talking about is long gone. Destroyed by the last major hurricane. Our restaurant is Rusty Rocket. Hope to see you there.

Greetings in the Spirit of Life beautiful woman. I am visiting in May of this year. I am a black woman who wants to get my hair twisted or braided while I’m there. Hopefully you can refer me to someone. Also, I think I would like to book a tour with you because I’m more interested in local culture than tourist attractions. How may I contact you? Are mosquitoes a problem?
@TheTravelingIslandGirl
@TheTravelingIslandGirl Год назад
Hey Patricia, ai have never braided my hair so I’m a bit clueless when it comes to that. But you can contact me at hello@thetravelingislandgirl.com to set up a Zoom call with me and I will do the research for you on that matter and advise you on local culture activities and attractions for when you’re here
