Thank you so much for doing this video to explain with such grace. In the United States where I’m from this type of homes are called mobile homes. Just like you said earlier, the home could be moved . I pray that people just watch and learn. I appreciate to learn more about your culture and smile to see how much we have in common. Please people if you are not asked for your input, advice or for your assistance learn to stay in your lane. Are you going to hammer a nail? Also, I grew up a board house my grandfather built and it stood on tree trunks. I grew upon South Carolina, on the east coast and was prone hurricanes and that house was not damaged. It stood until it was torn down. Be blessed Colaz and team🤲🏽🙏🏽♥️.
I was born in the district of Bethel Town in Westmoreland . But my parents moved away to another parish when I was 4 . Every holiday they sent us back to country. My grandparents house was made from wood and sat on blocks just like that . And my mom say they built it from she was a teenager . Mom is in her early 70s now . And it’s still standing to this day . Yes we have replaced board and zinc. Even built a nice house made of blocks beside it . But we still kept the board house because it holds so much wonderful memories . Nobody lives in it anymore but it’s used as a barn . By my cousins who still lives in the country . When we were kids we used to love go under the house bottom and play dolly house 😄. If u know u know . That’s one of the strongest houses . My uncles used to build those houses for people. . Block houses cannot be built on leased land . It’s one of the coolest experience watching them moving a whole house from one district to the other .
@@vivienne1359 . Wow ! My grandparents names were Smith and Anglin . Your mom is blessed to live to such a ripe old age . God bless her . I live in Cayman 🇰🇾 and if you go to the historical sites . There are a couple houses built just like that . But instead of using board they use wattle and daub . Those house survived so many storms. .
@@RoseyRosePowell168 What you doing over here 😄😄😄 ,Rose this Devon .My mom is SeaFord in West Moreland . A only dolly house you play under the cellar Rose 😂😂😂
Thank you Colaz Smith for showing some of us Jamaicans that had no idea of how some houses are built from board and is elevated on concrete blocks. This was amazing for me to see that this type of building exist in my country. I can only imagine the joy and comfort your sister will have when her house is finished.
Blessings Colaz, you are doing a good thing for your sister don't watch no face. Let them watch you, you are doing what god put you here for. Stay blessed and strong. 🙏🏽
Colaz my greatmother's house was built in Grange Hill, Westmoreland BEFORE I was born (and I was born in 1969). Same setting - board house placed on blocks. The house STILL EXIST today (May 2024). It has seen many hurricanes (including Gilbert and not one piece of zinc blew off). These houses can easily be moved if you so desire. I love these houses - they are not as hot as the concrete houses. I use to go under the "house bottom" to pick up eggs that the fowls lay - lol. The dogs use to shelter under there also when rain fall. Continue doing good - I'm so so proud of the work you are doing.
Colaz Smith TVdo not pay them any attention your sisters house is really nice.. ❤some of them probably do not have a house still living with family members. They need to take notes and build them a house!!
Do understand that many of the people asking have never seen a house build on a block before, Including myself, I would not dare to ask about it, but I am glad that others share my concern and ask. Glad to know that it is practiced in some places, and that it is safe.
A lot of people don't know people in Westmoreland dont buld block houses they build beautiful board houses overseas all there homes is board houses i think it costs lest money and is durable the Government build some board house lomg time age and no hurricane affect it not even the roof blow off a lot of those houses still is used today. THUMB UP TO YOU GUYS.
Mr. Smith, you are a blessing to your family. And the people that you reach out to touch. Because you are blessed. Do not allow anyone to sap your strength because of their envy. You keep doing you. And always remember you matter. Send me some of that heat up here in the north of Canada 🇨🇦 lol

I found it amazing how they are building the house. If those houses have been there for years and nothing happened, why are there so many questions. I thank those workmen are doing a great job. Thank you so much for sharing Colaz❤

Colaz, buildings from brick have roofs fly off and windows blow out. I agree with you. I was born in Jamaica. Some of my family lived on the same type of house and they are still going strong. Seeing you guys do your thing make me miss Jamaica even more but I can't travel due to illness. When I see you guys it uplifts me when I am feeling down. Keep up the good work.

Colaz that is the right name cement board a lot of these people don't know about zoning for different areas nothing is wrong with what u or doing I am a GC also in New York
MOST HOUSE IN HANOVER,LUSEA ARE BOARD I GUESS BECAUSE OF THE AREA FROM I USE TO TRAVEL THAT SIDE MANY YEARS AGO 👍👏 THE FOUNDATION IS ALWAYS CONCRETE WITH A CELLAR🤗JUST DO UR THING AND AVOID THE NEGATIVES 👍🇯🇲.
Colaz cement board is more durable than wood and will last for years, I'm sure a lot of the stupidity is coming from younger people, because back in the days the majority of houses in the country was built out of wood.Westmoreland a boardhouse parish, you doing a good job
Bless up Colaz, your family and the whole team. My thoughts on board houses, with the heat getting worse from climate change and the frequent earthquakes, board houses safer. Concrete houses can crack up . The board house just sway with the shocks. I experience that in 1992 in St Mary while visiting Jamaica. I was in an old board house. One love, later.
Some of the people who are criticising the board house is board house most of them grew up in. Furthermore, in the US where some of them live, a lot of houses are built from wood (,timber). I grew up in Westmoreland in a board house and it withstand all of the hurricanes I know in my lifetime. The cement board that your sister is using makes the house even stronger and long lasting. Your sister's house is going to look real good when it's finished. Continue your good work Colaz.
Colaz back in the days that how the houses in st mary use to make on post an is wood they use made it on and most of them is bord even if the land is theirs
People will always be critical of things they don't understand, and would like u to do what they want, bless up man, we love u and ur family and team, love from us here in canada❤
Look how much a dem have it and nuh do nothing god fi dem fem are dem friends so nuh watch the sml Minded people dem God blessed you me smith 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽heart a love
Colaz you are right with everything you have said and it's understandable some people never build anything in their life but they know everything but nothing at all You and your family and the men working on the house knows what it's going to look like when its done lisza and her family will be happy 👍🙏🙏
Some people just love the old way of doing things and that is why they don’t get further than they are. There is always room for improvement and there is always a better way of doing things. Keep up the good work. The monkey peel banana from the bottom, I peel banana from the top. Any which way, the banana is peeled.
A true because where I’m from we build block foundation then plate it and frame the house everywhere build different and nuff place use (hood post) too a common thing that fam nuh watch them negative talk you a do good….
Nice home ,bring back memories when i was younger,my aunt lives in Westmoreland she had a house like this, then she moved it to another location still standing, now she's building blocks around it . 😊
Amazing watching the house go up. Now I realise my grandparents house was built the same as we used to play underneath it as kids. Amazing. Thanks Colaz. Looking forward to when I can come for MY adventure although I don’t eat boiled dumplings 😂. Watching from London.
Your home is very nice I love how you share your family with me and everyone I thank you 🙏🏻 so much. All I can say is that you have earned everything especially with your RU-vid? You’ve been on here for many years and you deserve every good thing that God is giving you. You are a blessing you and your family are a blessing to me because of the fact I get to see how much you guys love each other. your wife is a beautiful woman you’re two little girls. I just love you guys. I wish I had money to send to you because I would God give me the money.😇😇
Good job colaz, at first I never understand how they could build a house that way, but I learn from what I saw u doing. Sheet rock is call dry wall or wall board in Canada, and are used for interior finish,
Your nephew's house is pretty both inside and out. The one beside it also looks good . Some people sandblast/sanddash the outside walls to make them more durable against the weather and insects. Some people use a concrete base for the bathroom area. If a board house is what you can sfford to build then so be it. Nothing wrong with that. When you have your own land then you can consider build concrete house.
Hi Colaz and the team when I was a child my grandma kept a mud house to show us it has tatch roof. But grandma was living in a board house. So Colaz you are right the board houses in Westmoreland are extraordinary Beautiful and colourful I love them, I know that the Builders are Professional and they know how to balance these houses on blocks or log etc.❤❤blessings!

Keep up the good work! Constructive criticism is good, because it can enlighten your thoughts. However, try to remain POSITIVE Regardless of all the criticism!😢 Too many people just sit on the fence and find faults! Big up the crew and keep on doing what you are doing, because we are here to motivate you to carry on. God bless you all!
The house my father grew up in is still standing on those same bricks 🧱. I go there every year (several times a year) and sleep in that same house on those same bricks. I am well over 50🦋🦋. Now the modern day homes can’t withstand a windstorm and they are made of brick and must follow county code😉😉🤓. Continue to build your home the way you know how. Blessings
