Regarding food. Coffee and a cliff bar starts the day..Bro Tom then says “burn a tank for breakfast “. Thats a challenge for a GSA. In reality we stop and have a good breakfast at about 11:00 before the lunch menu comes out. Dinner can vary. Local seafood or other treats should not be ignored. A small folding backpack can pick up dinner if need be. If You are in Tok, AK, do not miss the Eagle Claw motorcycle campground and Fast Eddie’s for dinner.

Great advice on a variety of subjects. FYI if you are a AAA member you can add motorcycle roadside assistance/towing for about $40 a year.

Thank you Craig , for responding my question so fast , yeah answering you questions online I do only on road travel , commute mostly to work and back , bike is great but I feel tall most the time so that intimidated my self a lot , getting my leg to other side is painful, having a bad knee and lower back , sometimes I feel like ti just getting a retro style lower bike like z900rs or z650rs sometimes like that , I will keep tenere for this year and will see , once again thank you for responding

How do you get on the bike? I always use the foot peg to stand up on before I try to lift my leg over. I am too old to try and do the karate kick thing...LOL. I do the reverse to dismount, even on the BMW. With that said, sometimes a smaller lower bike is not a bad idea. Over the years, I see the virtue of smaller, lighter bikes. Get what is comfortable and works best for you!

@@JuanMendoza-kc2yv It can be hard during your working years, to do big trips. I used to save my vacation time and then do a big trip every other year. I am sure there are riding groups in your area. Check out the BMW MOA and see if there is a group near you. You do not have to be a BMW owner to join or ride.

Another great video your videos are always straightforward with common sense and very helpful. You were mentioning about security when leaving the bike I've used a Pacsafe I got the larger one 55 I so I can also attach my helmet to it and I can run it through the sleeve of my jacket if I want to leave my jacket behind. I'm surprised you didn't mention camping soap camping soap can do laundry. dishes and you can wash your body with it perfect to carry one item instead of carrying all three different kind of products. Especially if you're washing clothes on the road it's all biodegradable too environmental friendly.

I have both the Ursack and a Garcia Machinery Bear Can (which can double as a stool at times). A bear climbed onto my bike when it was loaded in the truck bed in Idaho last Sept. He was after the trash I had in a plastic bag and stuffed into a Home Depot bucket in the truck bed. I rinsed the food trash, but Mr. Bear was still curious. He was so fat that he broke my windscreen and perma-bent my front turn signal. Lesson learned after decades of dispersed camping!

I started out with divinci resolve free version for editing and have been happy so far. I like the idea that I can pay for perpetual license if I need to without a yearly cost commitment. Since it's just a hobby for me it works well and is very powerful. So far there have only been only a few times where I would need the pay version. There are also very good educational videos on RU-vid to help with the steep learning curve.

Thanks for the video. May I add one? On your long distance trips, how important is cruise control to you?
@LivingOffTheSlab
@LivingOffTheSlab 2 года назад
It is generally a requirement on my touring bikes. It was when I bought the Super Tenere and also the BMW. There are of course options for bikes that don't have electrictronic cruise control, but I prefer it to come standard.

Thanks for another great video, Craig - very informative! You mentioned your Alaska trip videos - coincidentally I just went looking for those the other day and noticed you had removed them. Did you migrate them to your website or delete them altogether? Thanks!
@LivingOffTheSlab
@LivingOffTheSlab 2 года назад
The final videos are still out there, but the daily updates were taken down. Just trying to clean things up a bit as to there was a lot of duplication.

I do have a question ....I'm interested in a victory cross country tour ... I know u had a vision at one time ... Is there a large aftermarket world for the vision line ... For when when victory stops making parts in 2027?? If u know of anything that would be helpful in my decision thank u
@LivingOffTheSlab

There are some aftermarket accessories available, but I would not say it is large. Checkout Witch Doctors, as they are probably the largest supplier. buywitchdoctors.com/

Craig where you happy with the bih bore kit in your vision
@LivingOffTheSlab
@LivingOffTheSlab 2 года назад
I did not do the big bore kit, I did cams, fuel controller, timing wheel, exhaust and there was an air valve in there too. Cost about $3000 and it did give the bike a lot more power. Dyno'd at 114HP and 117 TRQ. Would I do it again? No, probably not. After doing all that it ran great around our area, but when I went to altitude I always had problems.
