#meganfoxunlocked #mennonitemom #answeringyourassumptions
In this video I try to answer, respond, and react to some of my viewers assumptions about the Mennonites and our way of life. I hope that this will give you some of the answers you are looking for. Remember, we Mennonites are followers of Jesus. Being a Mennonite is not a religion, but more of a way of life, a lifestyle that we feel Jesus would be pleased with. We do not judge other Christians just because they do not interpret the Bible exactly as we do. My desire is that this video will smash some of the misunderstandings about Mennonites and the way we live, as well as cause you to think about your own walk with the Lord and what you believe. Jesus is the Way, the TRUTH, and the Life. Read your Bible and see what He has to tell you! Love, Megan

I htink Mennonites are more than a religion...they are a closed culture, cultlike, with rigid, oppressive rules. For some people, I guess, living like that provides a sense of security. Life for them is simple, planned out by others, the rules are finite, not much room for imagination or ideas that don't fit with the official catechism.

Hi, Im African American and my husband is Mexican. We sell at a outdoor swap meet on the weekends. Every once in a while I notice three Mennonite couples walking around passing the day. The women were dresses modestly and the men were wearing the half beards. One particular saturday I had gotten enough nerve to say hello to one of the women,we stroke up a conversation. Such nice ladies! after talking for at least ten minutes they had to go. But before leaving one of the men said "you are absolutely invited to come to our church, do you need a ride"? They left me with a happy feeling, and a urgency to get things done! don't be lazy. I will never forget that "outsiders" are welcome in such a tight knit community never be afraid of the lord.

That one Girl that’s actually not true. Many Christian churches do not allow women to pastor churches. If you follow the Bible it does speak specificities to a woman’s role. Be careful not to confuse modern culture with Biblical principles. Mennonite women are not being forced to do something that they don’t want to do, they are freely aligning themselves with their faith, there is a big difference between the two.

@@thatonegirl4631 there are verses in the bible that talk about women not speaking in church (I think it's in 1 Corinthians), just most denominations don't follow those rules. I personally dont follow those rules because I believe Paul was speaking more to that specific church and culture but some people believe that everyone has to follow what Paul wrote. It's all about interpretation. Ultimately, believing that *Jesus Christ is Lord and that he died for our sins and was resurrected is what makes somebody Christian* so most Mennonites are Christian even if they don't hold the exact same beliefs as you :)

Regarding the 4-part harmony...I really appreciate that. A pastor's wife (who worked in public schools as a music teacher) shared her opinion with me years ago on the idea of learning to sing well together vs. a trend to be a soloist. She felt too many only want to take singing lessons to become stars, never learning to sing well with others. She felt that trend a sad fact of our times, all about self and less about working well with others.

d7j6f1001 Rae I am just curious why you felt the need to put a video link of a video depicting another person’s sin (within Megan’s same religion). Megan’s channel is quite interesting to watch of her sharing her heart and specifics of her faith. I am not Mennonite, so she is teaching me quite a bit. The people doing drug smuggling in the video you posted were in the wrong 100% and were sinning. I am pretty sure Megan had nothing to do with it and your post suggests that this is commonplace within the Mennonite community. This is an isolated incident and not common for people of this faith to do this. There are people of all religions who are what I call “bad people”. The choices made by a few “bad people” does not then make the whole religion “bad”. Look at what has been exposed to the world from the catholic church. It is horrible and evil to harm a child. That does not now mean that all catholic priests are bad and that the religion is any less important to those who hold it dear to their hearts. Yes, the few that are the evil sinners do make the whole religion look like it needs some work on it’s leadership, but all in all, the core of the faith is Jesus Christ and salvation by excepting Jesus as the Lord of our lives. Those who harms others and broke the law should be punished and punished harshly for their actions. However, you posting a video of Mennonite people sinning is somewhat of a poke to Megan that Mennonites are not who they say they are. I am not Mennonite, but I admire Megan for sharing the assumptions about her faith and sharing her heart on her personal life decisions and beliefs. I have a lot of respect for her and her faith. When I saw the video you posted, I saw it as both rude and a poke at Megan’s faith. My point is that there are evil people who make horrible decisions within all religions and those who have no religion. The illegal smuggling is sin and the Bible talks about that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). The best part of this story is that Jesus died on the cross so that all of us sinners can ask forgiveness from God and be forgiven. Even the Mennonites who did drug smuggling. It is our jobs, as believers in Christ, to turn away from sin and follow Christ so that we may spend eternity in heaven once we pass away. Megan, you are doing a great job with your channel. I recently found you and subscribed. Thank you for educating us on your faith. I have learned a lot.

As an Apostolic Pentecostal, I believe you hit the nail on the head with the "faith without works is dead" explaination. The book of James does exist, people! 😊 Edit: the reason why I love the faith without works is dead scripture: It is God's grace and love that prompts us to good works 🤍 what use is that faith without actually living it out. Faith in God comes with a level of responsibility and action, which is usually out of a grateful and fruitful heart for that salvation and grace bestowed on us. ❤ and God is so gracious 🙏🏼

Yup, but it doesn't change the fact Salvation is free. Salvation is free, the growth in Christ is not. The dead faith is when you stop growing and there no good fruits in your life anymore.

Thank you for your video. I am always curious about different cultures, lifestyles and religions. I hope that the more I know, the less judgmental I will be, and the more understanding I am of EVERYONE. I like being able to correct misconceptions I hear and direct those people to places where they can find more information, (I don’t instruct, but say stuff like “I think Mennonites ... you should check out....”). Glad I came across your channel, and look forward to checking out more of your channel. Would love for you to continue with the Q & A, maybe once a month or something.... helps us curious ones to understand more.
