As one of your regular FOH engineers, I typically put a HPF around 180k, a small scoop around 1k and then add a tiny amount of top end back in our mix for some brightness and shimmer 🤙🏼
I actually don't know! I haven't had a chance to compare the superbolt in the Ruby Red to the standalone superbolt v2. I'd be super curious to hear what the differences are (if there are any)
I do get some hum depending on where I'm playing, but I really feel like these Porter pickups made a big difference. The build quality for these are really solid!
Love this! Thank you for being such an inspiration, and obviously like everyone said, your tone is killer. Love the red Squier! I had a blue one lol from the starter pack, looking forward to more vids!
Glad to see another Strymon Iridium out there. Seems like there is a mass exodus to the Universal Audio Ruby/Dream/Woodrow pedals. I use an Iridium and am mulling over adding another Iridium to get the second amp model. Have you tried the new David Hislop ToneMatch IRs yet and if so, what are your thoughts so far compared to the previous DH IRs?
Yeah I’ve been wanting to get my hands on one of those to see how it is, I’ve heard nothing but great things. Yeah I love the new DH TM IRs! To me it feels like I’ve taken a blanket off my tone and I hear a lot more clarity and definition
@@SamWittek hey Sam congrats and future success to your channel it's been a big help :). Question, what is your favorite of the new tonefactor IRs from DH? I have the AC30 pack and also use a tele as my workhorse. Do you use one in mono or a combo of two in stereo? TIA
@@devyntavares8144 Thanks so much! So I use the AC30 + Prosonic TM IRs and they’re killer. The AC30 by itself is great, but I do like combining it with the prosonic
@@SamWittek awesome I feel that. It does go well together. I'm guessing you use it on the Chime Amp like in your older Video talking about it? Do you have specific ones you like from the packs. Like the straight up 545 or do you like it with post compression or Eq options? I don't really have access to check it out at home since my gear is all at church so I'd just like a good starting point. Thank you for any feedback and I'm grateful you enjoy the Iridium as much as you do and not just follow what is new on the market. Even tho the dream 65 from UA does look cool, esp with a tele lol.
@@devyntavares8144 Yep! I'm using Chime and I'm just using the same mic blends that I've been using (545 + R121 70-30 mix) just now with the TM IRs. If you're looking for a good starting point though, they have a folder of all their favorite go-to mic configurations, and pretty much all of them sound killer, so you definitely can't go wrong.
Hey Gabriel, that is awesome! I can definitely help. The order that I have everything wired is Deep 6 > Pitchfork > Benson > JET Lamb > JHS Ruby Red > Julia > Volume pedal > el Capistan > BigSky > iridium > DISO+ (underneath the board). The stereo signal starts with the el cap, and all you need to do is run two cables out of the L and R outs into the BigSky, and then into the iridium, and then stereo out into the DISO+. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions 💪🏻
@@SamWittek Thank you for quick response! When I get my pedalboard all situated I would like for you take a look over it. Either by pics or video. All my pedals should be arriving next week. I’m also going to download your Strymon BigSky pack. :) Looking forward to hearing front you. God Bless!
@@GabeReelLA Nice! I also have a full pedalboard walkthrough video in the works that should be coming out in the next couple of weeks, so hopefully that'll help as well!
There’s a few ways to hear your guitar sound with the iridium 1. It has a headphone jack, so you can plug in some headphones and hear it that way. 2. You can go out of the iridium into a DI box and into a mixing console when playing live. 3. You can go out of the iridium into an interface, and into your computer (this is what I do for these videos)
@@SamWittek Thanks for the info sir..i learned a lot from your ideas..may i ask what if you have an empress buffer, the last pedal on your signal chain is also a buffer ,how can you go out into an interface?if your second to the last chain is the iridium
@@skylarmobis4681 You're welcome! If you have a buffer at the end of your chain, you can still go out into an interface if you're running mono. If you're running stereo, then you'd need to run stereo out of the Iridium into your interface, unless your buffer has stereo out
Thanks for posting! I’ve recently found your channel since I started playing electric guitar for our worship services. You inspire and teach me a lot of new techniques with each video I watch so praise God for you!
I had almost the identical board setup you do…then I played around with the helix…1 year later…I sold all my pedals because I wasn’t using them…now I’m wishing I hadn’t…just because there is something so fun about manually turning the knobs and dialing in a sound. But - for convenience…hard to beat the full Helix floor that I have.
Hey Seth, I totally get that. Helix floor is super solid! But yeah that’s exactly why I love pedals, just so fun to manually use your hands (and feet) to turn the dials and tweak your sound
I did the same thing when I got a Kemper. Sold all my pedals and used only onboard FX. After a while, I realized that the Kemper does some effects really well and some not so well, so I ended up switching back to the board.
