Really interesting stuff. Thanks for doing the update. I have been using AI art generation to prototype ideas to before doing them in the traditional way. I've not really done much with AI music, but the little I have I had great fun with and will also use that for ideas for creating 'real' music to record.
Hi TJR. I started watching your videos the other day and really enjoy them. I’m a bit younger than you and am into CD’s, but I respect your appreciation for vinyl and music as a whole. AI can make as much music all it wants. I will be one (of the I’m sure many) people who won’t have anything to do with it. I think AI can be a great tool for us in production and in work environments, etc. However when it comes to art, music and all those special things that require human ingenuity and talent in order for it to be GOOD, leave AI the hell out of it. Leave art to the humans and production to the robots. Anyway I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more from you! Take care sir. 😊
Great video! It’s pretty cool what AI can do. I’ve been trying it out and it’s impressive. I feed the AI the style of music I wanted and gave it the situation I wanted the song to be about. I had it create a song about my ex-wife and I actually got chills when I heard the results. I’d like to share my results with you but I’m pretty sure links are not allowed in the comments.
I have actually heard some folks state that the individuals whose data was used for training should get an ownership stake (not just compensation) in the generated work. Unless a generated work derives heavily from a specific work, that sounds like a really unworkable system, especially if specific elements can be tied back to a large number of source works. Think about what that means from the perspective of determining when a work is out of copyright-do we have to verify that thousands of individuals have been dead for 70+ years, or does having the oldest known instance be out of copyright invalidate the entire element being copyrightable? Doesn’t tying an element to a large number of works undermine the element’s copyrightability in the first place?
I'm a bit of a latecomer to this AI party, after watching this video I went back and watched TJR's video with his jingle. My thought is this: AI could be an update on the Synclavier? Tell it what you want it to do and it does it.
Hi TJR I thought i had commented on that video but I may not have What I do want to ask is Were you aware of Frank Zappa’s work with synclavier and how he built a library of instrument samples and composed several major piece using this library I think it was 86 or 88 when zappa won a grammy for a piece with no humans on it Conlon Namcarrow composed pieces with player piano back in 50’s by manually punching holes on the rolls some of these piece are impossible for any piano player to perform AI Its just another tool
The day AI starts taking over the music industry is when I stop buying and new music! AI is already used in some music but I think there will always be real human musicians making music AI can’t replace the human element in a song The hurt in a love song, or the joy! AI is a computer!!!!
