This is what I love what Nick does. Very objective, it’s not boring at all. I have owned both and the Tesla has its own way of engaging the user. Mercedes MBUX has a very Vegas strip lighting and it’s exciting with all of that, but Tesla feels very Bavarian style minimalistic futuristic feel. It just works!

Took one for a test drive and ordered one a couple of weeks later. I've owned a couple of high spec 3 series BMW and it's easily as nice a cockpit as those cars, granted no 7 series / S class experience but for a £40k car it's a nicer place than most similar priced cars. I'm only using it as a commuter car for work, c100 miles a day, so doesn't need to be anything other than comfy, relaxing drive that's efficient which the new Model 3 definitely delivers on.

Exactly this! ☝️ Thank you for sharing! It’s amazing how when I produced my first Tesla Review on the Model Y, I mentioned the interior was in fact very nice. But loads were saying “but it’s Tesla they have bad build quality”. They may have done in the past, who knows but the car I had and certainly this one are very good. Especially Model 3’s improvements, it’s very impressive. What colour did you go for? 🤓

However, would you be able to do,, beforew long, an episode on the use of cameras for parking (reverse parking in particular) and the park assist function? I've driven the new Tesla model 3 and the build quality is very very good. Better than my 2021 BMW m135i that I have which has scratchy plastics lower down and isn't screwed together as well. I would say the Tesla model 3 has as good if not better build quality than a lot of German cars now which have gone backwards in interior quality.

But yeah, maybe someday, for now im happy with my Mercedes AMG 250e, its amazing. Keep up the awesome work Nick.

A balanced review again Nick. Im still not excited by a Tesla, but I do appreciate they have an amazing charging infrastructure and software. Styling wise they have yet to nail it for me, especially on the front end of their vehicles. Interiors do not match Audi or Mercedes for theatre or layout, although fit and finish looks like it's improved greatly. I run an MB AMG Coupe and an `ID3 for local journeys .... VW could do with a lesson on software from Tesla though!

How will Tesla comply with NCAP recommendations that tactile buttons and switches make a return, have you experienced any long attentive issues of accessing menus whilst driving.
@DerekDavis213
@DerekDavis213 Месяц назад
It has been said that Tesla is "an iPad on wheels". Tesla will not be able to meet NCAP recommendations. Tesla has the iPad screen for one reason: because it is cheaper than a full dashboard. Audi, VW, Honda, Toyota all have beautiful full dashboards.
@npoleary
@npoleary Месяц назад
Yes this is interesting, I’ve read that too! Not sure how some car manufacturers are going to react. We’ll have to watch this space! 🤓 Having said that though, Tesla’s interface is probably the easiest to use, not sure what Euroncap would say about the steering wheel haptic buttons. They are almost like buttons because of how good they are, they’re similar to the MacBook Pro touchpad. The interface is different but after a few times you can find things pretty quickly 🤓
@DerekDavis213
@DerekDavis213 Месяц назад
@@npoleary _the steering wheel haptic buttons. They are almost like buttons because of how good they are_ But are those cheap flat buttons durable enough to last for 10 years? That could be 70,000 button presses. Turn signal stalks have very high quality switches, so they can last for many years. Reviewers have said that when the car is stopped, the Tesla center screen works quite well. But the car is a bit shaky when driving over uneven pavement, and it is hard to precisely press items on the touch screen .

Part of my opinion story is that I don't like grey interiors. On that car, with the minimalist everything, adding the "Soviet Union Grey" really kind of says "no". I can almost see someone hopping into the passenger seat for a ride saying, "Where's the car?" Shades of the famous "Where's the beef?!" commercial. It's a counterpoint kind of thing to a bedroom that has pink walls and curtains and bedspreads, i.e. too much pink, and in that car's case, too little ....

The 2024 Model 3 is a nice car, but range is still limited. And it has no dashboard, and FSD is still quite primitive. A Camry Hybrid can go 630 miles (1014 km) on a tank of gas, and then just 5 minutes to refill at a petrol station. Tesla cannot compare to that ! .
@npoleary
@npoleary Месяц назад
Each car will have its pros and cons, depending on where you get your electricity from it can cost anything from £5 to charge at home (off peak with a smart charger) to £20 to £35 on superchargers (depends on the price). For charging at home cost, you simply cannot fuel a car for the same amount. If you have solar panels, then you’re laughing! I appreciate not everyone can charge at home but this is it, pros and cons. Suits some people more than others.
