I feel I could post content on retinoids every week.
It’s THAT big a topic. And more importantly, it’s THAT crucial.
So when I was inundated with questions to last week’s video I thought it a good opportunity to do a follow-up post, because there are still SO many myths and friction points that get in the way of you engaging with your retinoid habit. Have I missed any? Let me know in the comments!

I like that the content of your videos is so well organised and precise. Everything in a nutshell without any additional blabbering. As a non native speaker a lot easier for me. Continue like that. 🙂 Could you make a video on tackling cosmetics with sensitive eyes? Can I do anything about it? 3rd time conjunctivitis, lucky girl I am 🤣🙁 and the cosmetic/drug was on my head. I started using tretinoin and I had zero reaction. Is this possible? My skin is slightly drier than before but nothing else. I am worried this is an indicator that it’s not working? Hi Dr Sam I managed with a lot of patience to acclimate my rosacea and eczema prone skin to retinoids. I'm now on tretinoin 0.05% most nights, but my neck never managed to tolerate stronger retinoids. Instead I use a retinaldehyde 0.05% on my neck/chest with good results. I did get results on my face with weaker retinoids, but the tretinoin has made a massive difference in skin thickness and bounce. It has also strengthened my skin improving the rosacea (type one). This three year journey has been worth it, but there were some issues initially. I think people assume it will be a quick miraculous fix and it isn't. It took a long time to see real results for me and that's ok, as I also minimised irritation as much as possible. I have very dry skin post menopause, so I still have to use a lot of rich moisturiser to combat the drying effects of retinoids (although the dryness did settle substantially after the first few months). It's a marathon not a sprint, so some patience is needed to be successful in using retinoids effectively. Best wishes.

Thanks for sharing your journey and big congrats on winning the retinoid race!! You're right, if treated respectfully it really helps with restructuring skin in rosacea.

Hello Dr. Sam, Can we use a retinoid while breast feeding? If yes, would tazorac be okay? Oddly its the only prescription retinoid that I can tolerate mostly because I use it as short contact therapy in the morning by washing it off shortly after applying. I want to be able to take care of my skin, along with treating around the eyes, without them being irritated. Is there something I'm missing (a certain ingredient causing it)? Thank you so much.

Can you do a video about retin-a/tretinoin and hair loss/increase sheddage and your thoughts?? After using tret for 3 years( 3x a week mostly, US generic version), i realized i may have more sheddage due to tret and ( i have no other health issues, labs come back normal, etc, i eat healthy, i don't feel super stressed etc). BUT, i've read ALOT of things online from other users talking about tret and hair loss- which is kind of scary. I do plan to go off tret for 3 months to test my theory. But, as many people talk about it online and have come to this conclusion it must be a thing! Although if I find it to be the tret, I'll be switching to a regular retinol or Avene's Retinal to try as no matter what i do tret is too drying for my skin( i did follow the correct steps in using it. but nothing worked to make it non drying)
