This is among-st the best, unbiased & well researched observations made in India TV for a very long time. The reason i say this is that while everyone talks about the questions the SC posed to the IAF, this program helps point out the fact they missed out some very pertinent questions which could have sent a strong message & helped shape future defense acquisitions in India. A very pertinent point made by Shekar is'' No one is held accountable for Non decisions & passing the buck, but people are held accountable for decisions made, especially in a crunch situation like India finds itself today.'' Pak has China to rely upon whereas India has no one like China to lean on. While Israel may be a true friend we can rely upon, their role in an Indo- Pak or an Indo -China conflict cannot be direct but covert. A very pointed, clutter free & excellent program by Shekar Gupta.

Sir you were wrong in stating the Pakistan airforce capabilities. They are not at all superior to us in field of beyond visual range missile or ground based surface to air missiles. The longest range AAM in use by Pakistan is american AMRAAM, which has a maximum range of about 105-120 Kms, while india has vimpels of maximum ranges in category of 130-150 Km. And I am not counting the KS 172 (AWACS killer) bought for Su30, because it might not be as much effective for fighter type highly maneuvering targets. And these missiles are in good numbers also.

India followed no war. Like decision taken for nuclear use Hence we have not alloted any big budget for defence .anf now also we don't expect any war like situations but we should go for procuring defence equipment with develop at our nation site.

I am a CPL holder. Mulla Nehru went in to heavy industry which are down the drain following Soviet model ignoring our foundation agriculture. HAL is one of them. It imported 90% components from Britain to make locally HS 748 (Avro). Many of them met with accidents & rest of them grounded because they were flying coffins. That is the reliability story of HAL.

Judiciary intervening should be taken as the evidentiary part of " Checks and Balances" as very rightly envisaged by the framers of our Constitution....and obviously the scope of the questioning was in the form of only seeking a first hand knowledge and not merely an information.

Thanks Mr Shekhar Gupta for so crisply presenting the problems CREATED and FACED by various governments in defense purchases, causing major lapses in our defense preparedness. The lack of efficiency, poor quality control and inability of sticking to any time frame for delivery is the bane of all public sector undertakings but HAL is most damaging. Moreover, HAL suffers from complete complacency because it has a captive client in IAF. The speech of Air Chief on Air Force Day enumerated numerous delays by HAL, ranging from 3 to 6 years, in up-gradation of MiG/Jaguar/Mirage aircrafts. Tejas has already taken 30 years and a few years more are needed. No wonder Desault refused to provide guarantee/ quality assurance for the Rafals to be manufactured by HAL, as proposed earlier by UPA. A very serious breach constitutional protocol, defined by the principle of separation of powers of Judiciary, Executive and Legislature, has been comitted by the Judiciary/ SC. The SC has not only undermined itself by undertaking the role an investigating agency but it has lowered the prestige of another constitutional authority- the CVC by asking him to work under the supervision of a RETIRED JUDGE (who is more responsible and trustworthy than the existing constitutional authorities). The SC has already wasted its SCARCE and PRECIOUS resources/ judge-power in practically taking over the BCCI. The retired judges/ bureaucrats/ administrators have not covered themselves with glory, in this case as well.

Dear Shekhar you are right about HAL and bureaucracy, but you are going out of context under which hearing was conducted. Hearing was about whether the Rafael deal is conducted ethically and fairly or it was another scam. So judges were right Bout their questions and limited themselves to it. Which is admirable.

If we had gone with the original purchase of 126 believe me that would have blocked our entire defence budget.IAF has been asking for MMRCA since 2001. This guy is highly misinformed on various fronts... Let me touch upon a few... He says fighter aircraft technology has gone up from 2nd to 5th generation from 1997 to now... Seriously?? 2nd gen was WW2 folks! Top airforces began operating gen 4 aircraft by the 80's and India in the 90's with Mirage and Mig 29. US was the only country which raced ahead with it's 5th gen plane during 90's while it took a time gap of almost 20 years for Russia and China to catch up... On the other hand India with it's acquisitions including the Sukhoi maintained technological par with other airforces around the world. This journalist also needs to understand that between gen 4 and 5, there's huge interlude of upgrades in aircrafts which came between 1997 to today.. Fighters like Eurofighter, Rafale and even our current Sukhoi (With it's constant upgrades) falls under that bracket which is gen 4++... The Rafale is chosen today not because it would be the best aircraft in our air force.. Just that it would have capabilities distinct to itself. So no alarm bell there folks, we're still at par with top air forces. If alarm bells were to be raised I agree it's our squadron strength which is depleting.. We need to understand that defence acquisitions have been done on a framework that has been prone to middlemen and corruption. Rajiv Gandhi went on a purchasing spree but did little to mend our faulty acquisition system as a result of which a large number of Mig 21''s which should have retired 20 years back still remain in our fleet and the newly purchased aircraft are unable to fill in the squadron strengths. At least the current government has tried improving things by involving the forces directly and at the same time pushing for indigenous systems in an effort to reduce dependency on imports. The MMRCA deal for which Rafale was finalised was taking indefinite time to finalise during the UPA regime while many may not know that the Modi government came up with this new deal on being advised by the air force about it's urgency for new aircraft. However, on the brighter side Su30mki is the leading aircraft in our inventory with both quantity and quality. We should understand this aircraft was strategically purchased as a force multiplier with it's multi-role abilities thereby giving us a significant edge over Pakistan even with our depleting squadron strength. In fact this gave us an edge over China too for a long time until their 5th gen aircraft rolled out. This journalist says Pakistan out does India with it's Beyond Visual Range missiles... I'm shocked at the height of misinformation! Pakistan air force capabilities are well behind ours... He should have done a bit more homework on the kind of missiles the Su30mki carries and compared it with what the f16(PAF version) does.. The difference is glaring! We have a Su30 carrying Brahmos (The only fighter in the world to do so) and indigenous missiles included. I'm not suggesting that there are no problems to be addressed.. In fact there are many... But the only solution is when we become a self-reliant force. As long as there are acquisitions, there are bound to be complications. It's still not as bad though as this guy projects it to be... When I interacted with a few people from the forces, they told me that this government is hard on it's "Make in India" stance and that this would benefit us in the long run. So folks let's uphold our faith in the capability of our forces.

(2) Do you still think 🤔 that the three wings should be balanced even when two already powerful wings dominated profoundly by self seeking political scoundrels start to think 🤔 that they are aboveboard and the Executive already wrests supremacy over the other two dormant wings? All said and done, one thing is atleast good happening. Unlike Bofors, Rafael is atleast hitting the judiciary quickly and hopefully we get right unbiased judgement.

So much chest thumping by Kejriwal on Education but number of students reduced by 1 lakh last year and in Pvt school increas d by 1.2 lakhs. Will anybody tell Kejriwal that parent do not check floor tiles or toilets to get admission in a school. Delhi Modern School on Barakhamba Road is not having a good building but still elite students want admission there and other aspire to go there. Parent want education standard not new water tanks or tiles floors.

Shekarji, this was a brilliant video. Thanks for summing it all up. Weather you agree with me or not, you have got to give credit to Mr Modi, for catching the bull by its horn. Look at all the brick bats thrown at him over the past several months. Instead of getting scared, he catches the 'bull by its horn' and goes ahead with the deal and let it be scrutinised by SC.(which incidentally is a brilliant move) Have you thought about the consequences of this deal? In future, Indian Air Force will never be starved of latest aircrafts, esp the latest generations. They will be able to order what they want locally from the joint venture Dassaeult/Reliance Company. Also, I hear a large portion of the offset money is allocated to DRDO, who have good competance in missile making. Therefore, I expect lot of cutting edge technologies esp in the aero space field to emerge from India. To top it all by introducing competition working of HAL as well as DRDO will become more effcient. They will be faced with the Perform or Perish syndrome which is good for them. Does Rahul Gandhi really cares for all this? Does he ever feel proud when good things happen to india?

Congress 10 years nothing, IAF for 18 years never gave chance to Tejas, HAL till today cannot make 8 aircraft per year. These 3 are mutually responsible. India Tejas Mk1 is JF17 block 3 ( means 3 upgrade/updates ) This is how developing countries should help homegrown technologies and induct. China also does same but IAF does not want flexibility. Congress did nothing to pressurise IAF or HAL. HAL is just somehow useless need them to be answerable from now on as its tax payers money.

Are you serious! A2A missiles that Pakistan has us Aim-120c amraam similar to the range of R-77, not the Aim-120d. Where as India has ordered meteor missile which is superior to aim-120d that's why it's been integrated in the f-35 (us variant included).

HAL is in the government sector. Why is it not strengthened if we see defence as the foremost of our national concerns?
