Hi tutorial is good and clear. my question is y you have chosen formulation as augmented Lagrange method?

Great tutorial Sir.I am encountering a similar problem where I have to release the shrink fit and take the shaft out of the hole. Means I have to heat the external body only at the outer surface i.e. how much heat transfer W/m2 C is required to have zero contact stress at the interface. Let me now if you have encounter similar problem in the past.I am doing a static analysis first i.e. define the shrink fit and then connect solution to thermal analysis where I defining heat transfer coefficient till I got zero contact.Need your advice

Thanks so much. I am trying to model a sharp tip scratching a metallic surface to see stresses around the scratch. How can I do it? Since I will need to define contacts and displacement ?

can you show how I can put the tolerance of the shaft and the hole for calculate the pressure fit?

can you please show how to do the drawings interfering a shaft of 11mm into 10mm hole to do similar simulation. I couldn't fit a shaft bigger than a hole using both ansys nor solid works. thanks very much and very helpful video

Hello , Very helpful video. I am trying to simulate the same thing but in ANSYS APDL The way i approached it is to heat one part (load step 1) and then allow it to cool with the contact/target option (load step2) However only load step 2 is taken in consideration. Any ideas why this is so? thanks

Naj Hos Thank you Naj, the thing which you are looking for is thermal simulation, and this tutorial is of structural simulation, please give me some time i will come-up with the solution video for your case

GRS CAD/CAE Hi, did you have a chance to come up with the solution? If you do not have time to do the video, can you please just let me know how to proceed, and i will try to do it by myself. I need it soon. Thanks

Why augmentedagrange method

Hi I had a question and im running into a problem while trying to do a similar simulation. Assume your shaft and a bushing have interference fit and there is also external force presented normal to shaft. Also assume that your shaft has a step and the bushing is initially is pressfit onto the shaft and is just touching against the step. Now if I try to run the solver, I get error because i am having a hard time figuring out the type of contact to use for where the bushing is just touching the step. I get errors like rigid body deformation, contact arupt change (I tried using no seperation and frictional contact by the way). Thank you
