Dave, You and a few other elmers are the last of a kind. I'm always learning from you - you make all of it seem so easy. But so many of us miss the finer points and don't yet have the experience necessary to build a world class never mind a decent home radio station. Your lessons are invaluable, and I believe will enable new hams for years go come in this RU-vid format.

I've had a lot of success with the sixty-six foot 40 meter end-fed half wave from MFJ. I set it up in my 70 ft wide back yard. All I needed was one support, with the un-un zip-tied to a bush at ground level. It works on 40, 20, 15 and 10 with a low SWR. With my MFJ-998 tuner and some additional RG-8 coax, I've used this antenna on every band from 160 to 10 meters. (It uses the coax as a counterpoise, so on 160 I needed 50 to 100 feet additional coax to get it to tune.) It's been a very simple and versatile antenna. The un-un does limit me to 800 watts of SSB, but I rarely go about 500 watts anyway.

Comet 250HD is a really good 80-10 verticle they doesn’t require radials if one is limited on space. I’ve got one and while there are some trade offs and compromises, I’ve been happy with it

Zero Five antenna company makes a couple All band ground plane antennas if no room for radial field. Mount 10 feet above ground

Didn't know they made rope specifically for guying. My Lowes rope is one year old and about to break. Going to replace it with stainless steel cable (already purchased). Hope the steel cables don't effect my signal.

Hi Dave. Really enjoy your videos. THANKS! My question is that I live in an HOA but can have a flagpole. The area I have is limited where 50% of any radial field is about 10' but I might be able to get a few on the other 50% side, about 25' long. So, somewhat limited. Would you suggest (I do have a couple of trees) maybe an OC fed dipole wire antenna, or should I go with that flagpole company that does an OC fed dipole vertical antenna inside the flagpole? (that seems interesting, but the price is a bit expensive)

My 6BTV (a 6 band trap vertical with a 17 and 12 meter add ons) with 30 radials gives me 8 HF bands. I’ve worked all over the globe with my 100 watt Icom 7300. I bought it at DX Engineering.

Ya. I’m committed to a comet vertical. I got a 30 foot telescopic mast I want to put on a tilt over base 20 odd feet of antenna. Still got to buy all the steel cable Going to be a costly affair 9:42 I got a semi portable adas which i will try on a satellite tripod 10 foot mast and screen radials I’ve seen people use them on balcony railings and clip to car trunks Any other suggestions Thanks. Ve5 mcr

I’m in much the same boat - how about spanning a dipole over a valley on the property? If the 2 30ft masts spanned a 10ft low spot does that provide equivalent 40ft propagation pattern?
