I've had the Antepes Muscle Runner Training sneaker for over 30 days. I've done track workouts, ran stairs, done plyometric workouts and the sneaker doesn't have any foam compression and the reinforced knit upper is still tight.
Pros:
The trainers really do help to target the quick twitch fibers and muscles associated with the explosive aspects of sport. The wide forefoot platform and the carbon fiber plate force the foot to actively remain in a forefoot striking position. In a traditional sneaker staying on the balls of the feet becomes a battle to not run on your toes. Here the placement of the outsole takes care of that issue.
Cons:
For athletes with weaker ankles there will be at least a two-week adjustment as the ankles will definitely feel the pressure. Athletes will have to build up to jogging with the sneaker. Calf raises, plyo box step ups and jumprope will help with the process of using the sneakers. This isn't really a con, it's just an adjustment.
Sizing: True to size. I went up to a size 13.5 and I didn't need to. If this was a 13, I wouldn't have had as much heel slip and added tension around my ankle.
Would I buy again?
Definitely, but the sneaker is so well constructed, they won't wear out quickly unless they are worn on sidewalks/pavement.

Great review of these shoes- I’ve tried to DIY these off and on over the past 25 years a few different ways- taking two old pairs of shoes and attaching the cut-off forefoot midsoles from one and attaching to the bottoms of the other pair. In another experiment I used high density foam and gorilla taped it to the forefoot of an old pair of Nike frees. Both concepts worked but looked a bit weird (like strength shoes or jumpsoles) and the durability/stability became a concern. I may try carbon fiber with epoxy or some pvc but it may be worth checking these Antepes out as something my 13yo LJ/hurdler daughter could wear during sprint endurance/hill work/ or plyo days. You’re right about the marketing opportunities for these shoes as they have unlimited use-cases. No commercially produced shoe is designed and constructed for true human movement. These guys may have broken new ground. I might have to give them a shot, especially since these can be worn without attracting too much attention, my daughter could actually wear them out to the track. We wouldn’t wear my DIY shoes in public they just look too crazy 😂 Thanks for the review

You absolutely have to share video of your cobbled masterpiece, lol. That would be really entertaining.

@@archbyccb you know what? Just got another idea haha! Take a pair of larger size Crocs, since the bigger size will have wider forefoot- cut that off, then attach that to bottom of some old running shoes. The wider toebox of the Croc would allow for a wider forefoot sole and help with stability when doing plyos- and then grip would still be decent. The durability would be more reliable vs the foam from the last version. Maybe put some carbon fiber with epoxy in between the midsoles for more stiffness too. Still couldnt wear them out in public through because they would look way too crazy - so it still doesnt solve my problem hehe. We are made in God’s image so we enjoy building and creating things too! Creating tools, structures, shelters, art, and new things brings us joy. This is how we are designed. Hallelujah 100% I really just need to buy a pair of these and benefit from someone else’s creation haha. Got too many pairs of chopped up Frankenstein shoes in the house over the years haha.

@@nodeout5465 The channel Rose Anvil has grown to one of the biggest sites on RU-vid tearing apart and cobbling shoes. Buy these, but have fun and share. Someone will learn and appreciate it.

Great review! I’ll be getting these shoes soon. This review helps! I’m a basketball coach and also incorporate lots of running in my daily life. Where did you get the red folding plyo box?

You can get the box from Dick's. It's heavy though.

@@jimmywarren01 moderation is key if you're not used to forefoot landing and striking.
