This video explains the basic concept about Anterior Guidance which is often under-rated by many practitioners while restoring the occlusion of the patient.
Besides striking a balance between Esthetics and Function, it is important to customize the treatment plan according to the patient's individualized requirements.

05:50 Steeper incisal contact angle surely increases axial forces? Video says steeper angle increases off-axial forces. Which is right?

So, shallow anterior guidance ( protecting facial cortical bone) with flat cusps & narrow posterior occlusal table( protecting posterior implants) are ideal occlusion scheme in full mouth implant cases? Little compromised chewing efficacy but with more safety for bone & implants. Is this correct?

Hi. Does anterior guidance depend on articular Eminence?

Dr. What do you mean by ( elevator muscle shut off ) ? Is that mean contraction or relaxation of elevator muscles?...please reply ...

Steeper incisal guidance angle increases posterior disclusion and shallower incisal guidance increases posterior contacts. Therefore it is surely more deleterious to create a shallow anterior guidance angle? Is the off-axial force higher with a steep angle?
@kevinshannon9096
@kevinshannon9096 5 лет назад
you are getting confused. posterior disclusion either happens or it doesnt, you do not increase it. neither is more deleterious, do not forget that each patient is an individual and the guidance has to be customised to them. the angle of incisal guidance is related to the slope of the articular eminence, where the condyle translates.

I have an overbite. My bottom front teeth sit behind my top front teeth. But sometimes I move my teeth so that the gap between my top & bottom’s is almost non existent. This makes my jaw more prominent. I realized that I speak more clearer and better when moving my jaw a little forward and using it more in sync with my top teeth. Is this how I should’ve been doing it the entire time? I feel like my lower jaw is weak because of no mobility/low use.

The thing is when I position my teeth this way, my back teeth do not make contact at all, so when chewing etc i have to move the teeth back to use them instead of chewing with front teeth

I think my dentist needs to go and train with this lady! £800 for a crown veneer with clashing occlusion and not being able to get my back teeth together! and they can't see the problem!!! 😞

Dr. In case of shallow anterior guidance , more ( axial forces ) applied on teeth ,contrariwise that of steep anterior guidance in which more ( off axial forces applied on teeth ... but is the effect confined for only anterior teeth ? what are the effects ?

Dr..is the incisal guidance synoname of anterior guidance ? ..& is the anterior guidance represent line disecting incisal guide angle ? ... Could you please reply my questions ...your reply realy creats diference with confusion in my thinking ....thaaaaaaaanks in advance...

That line in the diagram basically refers to the path on the lingual surface of the maxillary anterior teeth along which the mandibular anterior teeth glide, and this path represents Anterior Guidance... It is also sometimes referred to as Incisal guidance... Hope that answers your question...

What is stable dentition and what is unstable dentition? And word "sagittal" pronounced: səjĭʹtəl, IPA(key): /səˈdʒɪtəl It is difficult to understand some words until you write them down. Just have some speech generator do the audio instead.
