You have to give Stewart credit for fighting for the 9/11 First Responders. He did so for no other reason than to get those people help and force the Politicians to stop fucking around and do something. He didn’t have to do that, and his name recognition kept the issue in the media and put the people effected first in every interview and discussion.

This is a story where Jon Stewart didn't want to shake the hand of Anthony Cumia because Anthony derided him all the time on his show. And then, Anthony said that it shouldn't matter (why not? If you crap on someone on your show, nobody would ever expect that person to behave as though you've been pals all this time). And even so, Jon still had the maturity to admit he came in too hostile and apologized.
There are always two sides to every story. Let’s just say Anthony Cumia is known to be an asshole and Jon Stewart is respected by everybody, no scandals, people who worked with him for almost 2 decades have nothing but love and admiration. Btw, Anthony Weiner is not Jon’s “friend” and he made fun of him multiple times on his show.
