Talk about EERIE & Prophetic… I bet he's hoping no one ever sees this clip again lol… He did Characterize Donald Trump very well though… He is just like a big spoiled over weight 6 year old who writes his name on everything because he doesn't want to share with anyone.

"Why are you drawing the line at Common?" We all know why he drew the line at Common. Twelve years later and Jon Stewart is still dropping that mic in republican faces! ❤
The GOP doesn't care about crime unless it's a person of color that commits it. They won't call mass shooters terrorists, they won't call white collar criminals thugs... The racist rhetoric is clear. Fox news and the GOP are very clearly targeting a very specific demographic.
In Common's defense , I see a repeating documentary on how too many African Americans that are targeted by cops and die from excessive force . They were literally targeting unfairly and die from racist cops . And what happened @ Wounded Knee is like Jon Stewart said is exactly the same .
@That Montage Nerd John Roberts just mentioned that Pettifogging was inappropriate in the Senate in 1905 to say during Trump impeachment. I'd never heard this word it's hilarious to see O' Reilly say this. So that means Bill would have been banned in the Senate back then lol
But...by using the word "pettifogging" he's using a bigger word than Stewart uses in the entire interview...OH sorry Stewart says that in the video. My bad. Ignore me. Carry on.
elimcfly350 he just rocked him back on his heels. "That's an interesting point" Read: this is totally new information to me and I need to process how to respond. Jon came very prepared and clearly won this point.

When Bill realized Jon had a perfect analogy he tried to back out so fast, talk condescending and also dumb down his own intellect.. I can’t stand Bill
You can tell by some of the moments they laughed that they don't share the same opinion as Bill. Makes you wonder how they feel on the days that John is not present . . .
Quick Dry Yeah, but gotta be honest friend, not really feeling the love you espouse for Stewart. Kinda think you actually hate his politics. But meh, whatever.
@Quick Dry I wrote another comment but I think the window crashed. In case you see two replies. Simply summed up, Im not sure I understand how your comment/question follow what I said. To clarify my comment, its that warping a standard so far that ones perspective on an issue drags in a lot of baggage. Like people that think social justice warriors are a real thing, let alone a threat to society. Or blowing up buzz word concepts like 'victim playing' and 'race card' like they actually apply.
11:57 - 12:14 this moment always lives rent free in my head for years. Thinking that the president should worry about who comes to his poetry slam is crazy lol
@Cole Pratt This is one of the most hatred spewing, lying and divisive networks there are. I would rate Al Jazeera news better than this, and I barely watch that. Fox news is a sitcom that appears to be a news media, and most of the anchors are given scripts or ordered what to speak about. They are all actors in a very comedic television show. I find it funny how much they get debunked, even by their own people.
@Cole Pratt For one, tucker carlson was debunked by scientist bill nye, megyn kelly was debunked when she falsely claimed Jesus was white and santa clause was white and will always be white. Bill o reilly was debunked by this black guy who worked for the government, I don't remember his name. There are numerous times they were debunked. Look it up if you don't believe me.... I'll wait
@Cole Pratt It's literally on youtube, where do you think I got it? By the way, if you look up the original history of the concept of santa claus, the man that it was derived from was never white. Before you even comment I have no evidence, search this up "times fox news hosts were debunked" and there is actually a video featuring a compilation. So, I will the say the same thing you said to me, try again, look it up, and prove to me that I'm wrong or as a man named stephen crowder once said, "change my mind", if you can.
Fox News has been leading one of the most blatant misinformation campaigns for the US for 40 years. Republican voters are STATISTICALLY less educated than democratic voters and are super easy to manipulate VIA Fox News. Really unfortunate, the majority of educated democrats don’t even blame Republican voters anymore, they simply have been given such a small viewpoint and it probably will never change on a huge scale. Doesn’t really matter though because republicans are already dwarfed by democrats in number, they just need to get out and vote and help these poor, stupid republicans from voting for leaders who help the rich lol
@Aqal Mand Doubtful he researched the topic, he knew what angle he wants to take and led O'reilly into a trap. Watch any Stewart conversations with people of opposing views, he was a master of luring people into those debate traps.
Jon unloading on opposition with solid comedy AND intelligent discourse. My brain is exhausted just trying to keep up with him, and he still has more in reserve. Would love to see him teach *that* so others are better equipped to ridicule absurdity.
Yeah, O’Reily and Stewart were the best of political frenemies. They would always invite each other to do stuff publicly, to voice their opinions even though they were severely different. Stewart and O’Reily respected each other because they both believed that the other genuinely believed what they meant and that they were in the right, but more importantly that they had a civil discussion about it.
It was the death of this kind of civil dialogue, where you could effectively have polar opposite clash, but in a meaningful fashion, that's possibly the greatest loss to our society in the current time. Now it's all just shouting and tribalism punctuated with manufactured moral outrage. If Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly can interact like this, then there's no fucking excuse for it to not be so with any two opposing individuals.
@@LabTech41 I mean, even here, Bill O'Reiley isn't exactly nice here. Jon Stewart does gentle ribbing, but O'Reily is such a patronizing asshole the entire time.

That producer or whatever was almost certainly fired 20 minutes after that laugh. Also I love that multiple times in the interview he throws that word back at him
John Stewart is so amazing the way he set up the Bono facts, and the way he drew an analogy to Bono. It is the exact same thing. Same thing with Bob Dylan.
THIS WAS A BRILLIANT ATTACK AGAINST RACIST MENTALLITIES BY HOLDING UP THE MIRROR WHILE THE WHOLE COUNTRY GETS TO SEE OREILLY'S HIDEOUS REFLECTION. JOHN DIDNT HAVE TO SHOOT THE MAD MAN. It's amazing seeing Jon Stewart get so aggressive in a debate, but still be friendly and kind, and make such a strong effort to try and understand the opinion O'reilly is expressing. Whereas O'Reilly would just be openly nasty and bully-ish and expect the people around him to just accept it.
Right? They've almost got a Muhammad Ali/Howard Cosell-type dynamic: constant arguing and giving each other a hard time, yet have great chemistry and maybe even secretly respect one another.
Watching this 13 years later from the time it aired, I miss seeing two people who have different views get into a heated argument and still come out being friendly and respectful to each other.
I’m not a big Jon Stewart fan, but he is funny as hell. I do have mad respect for him after watching his presentation to congress regarding first responders. One of the best things I have ever seen.
Hell yeah. Kind of makes you think about how few conservatives actually do the important work they portend to care about. Stewart was busting his ass for years
Ya, that's true but this time he lost. Lol, stewart got owned on this one. In my opnion. Why do you think stewart was actually right on any of this? I don't even like bill o reilly, but he's right sometimes , and on this. He's a blowhard and an a hole and a jerk often times. But on this topic he's cleary correct. You seem to make the argument that orielly wasn't consistent in this, but it's Stewart And you that don't understand what being consistent actually is. In my opinon it's people like stewart , who don't look at the whole picture , and that's the problem.
Ten years later, I come to these old videos of Jon Stewart when I need doses of intelligence and sanity. "Be consistent in your outrage" has become my political stance on anything and a sober reminder to check myself always for biases and hypocrisy. Jon, you're a legend.
For real! The only thing that can keep you grounded amid the frequent flip flopping from both sides of the political aisle is to be consistent in your convictions

Anyone else watching this in 2020 n getting a surreal feeling when he says "we can't be run off course by any one individual" at @19:30 n then proceeds to talk about Trump?
Bill has such poor foresight. He’s essentially arguing for a society where artists restrict any expression against the government for fear of state-imposed consequences. The ability to speak out against the authorities and still break bread with them is an incredible achievement for a very troubled, draconian nation.
I watch these clips because it reminds me of talking to my dad. These two are diametrically opposed, but they have chemistry, and I genuinely think they both get a kick out of these conversations. A part of them could be best friends. It seems less contentious and more like two very different people just ribbing.
When Trump is out of office, I pray some normalcy can come back ... but I know that the Republican Party will still be the Party of Trump, as that's their ONLY identity. To tell you the truth: Trump isn't the WORST President this country has ever had. He's up there, but we had John Tyler, James Buchanan, Andrew Jackson: open pro-slavers. Richard Nixon was responsible for the Vietnam War, and George W Bush for the Iraq War, both of which are responsible for thousands of deaths (and war crimes) on their hands. Trump, at the very least, hasn't started any wars or been openly pro-slavery ... that's as close to a compliment I'll give to him. Trump, at best, is incompetent and is unqualified for the job. At worst, he's a megalomaniac who fashions himself a monarch (not a Traditional Fascist, a King, there's a difference). If he weren't intolerant, he could do WAY more damage ... the real problem comes from the Party that supports him. The Republicans have had SEVERAL chances to kick this man out of office and put Pence or anyone else in charge (maybe with horrible political views, but at least Pence is competent enough not to blast Twitter-storm hissy-fits online). I don't know the point I'm trying to make ... things could be better, things could be worse?
How so? The protests are creating change and reshaping the damage that he has caused. America, as a whole, is strong. The protesters are in the process of defeating fascism and Donald Trump.
I think Trump will have a lasting legacy, but if he loses, the cult of strength the right has built will at least fall a little. I'm hopeful that we will survive.
@@names_are_useless Trump has interment camps on the border, tried to start a war, is responsible for the deaths of over 100,000 Americans, and is a fascist. He's pretty fucking bad.

Watching this, and their debate show in 2012...oddly makes me feel more respect for both of them.. Like they are on totally opposite sides politically, but like each other enough to where their opinions don't define their relationship. I could totally see them going for a beer after this. Which is really what we need right now.
Yeah o’reilly is just being hostile and bombastic from the start and Stewart gets visibly frustrated at times . . But he just keeps killing bill with kindness. It’s genius. He completely deflate’s bill’s hostility and manages to get him to listen to his answers. Most of this conversation is actually pretty civil for two people who are so ideologically disparate. And I think a lot of that is down to Jon Stewart’s patience and decency.
I've realized humor is a powerful tool to get your points across. You tend to be more cooperative with someone you like, even if you're initially unwilling to agree with what they're saying.

@Xakkil In all fairness, Ann Coulter said that Trump could win on "Real Time with Bill Maher" when there were a number of Republican Primary candidates going up against him and she was laughed at by his audience, prompting her after he won later to give a later audience and the cameras a smug smile after "she was proven right," and Michael Moore expressed concern that Trump would win. Private Joker Did you watch the vid mate? O'Reilly got "pwned" multiple times for his hypocrisy. The fact that it was funny just added to it. And I never in any way said or even hinted that Stewart "defeated" Bill because he was funny. O'Reilly is an ignorant aul cunt, anyone can destroy him. Fox News is a joke, honestly. If you watch that shit and take it seriously... it's legit worrying. And It's been atleast a week since I watched this but if I recall correctly Stewart noted that Fox viewers are consistently misinformed. Shouldn't that tell you something? They percieve other mainstream outlets to be left wing - not telling you they mean 'establishment left' which is basically diet right wing - so they have 0 shame in being a propaganda arm of the Republicans, just as other networks basically shill for the Democrats. Look at that last Presidential election, perfect example. Trump, the republican candidate was running on a slightly leftwing agenda to end the wars and create relations with Russia rather than conflict. All good things. What "left" wing policies did Clinton want? More war, corruption and wall street cunts to remain doin what they're doing. Thats not what the left wing want. And it turns out Trump was talking pure shite and did a U-turn on almost everything. So realisticly you had 2 right wing candidates in that last election, representing the Democrats and Republicans. Thats leaving out the fact that Clinton cheated Bernie, and then Trump managed to cheat Clinton via the electoral college. It was fucked up and totally undemocratic - if I was a yank i'd be rioting til I got another election. Thats not what anyone, left or right, is asking for though... which is mental because it's a solid argument for another election. Btw what exactly do you oppose about the left or Stewarts politics? We can have a civil discussion here if you like. I'm pretty much a democratic socialist and an Irish nationalist and republican, which are all very left leaning things. My guess is you're on the right, but i've had civil discussions with neo-nazis so don't hold back.
