That was one of the Best performances I've ever seen. I like the way Anthony tells a story during his solos. It's not just fills and rolls, it's actually something the audience can get into. Very Entertaining!!! Great Job Anthony!!!!!
Speed, precision, shownmanship, and all around talent. You have all the qualities of a great drummer and theres no use responding to ignorant comments like the ones left to you. What do you have to prove to them anyways? You were good enough to go through a panel of judges and look how far you got. Let everyone hate on what is obviously talent.

I don't know if anyone's noticed, but when he's playing that beat on 0:56, you can hear him (and see him) pull the snare level back and forth to make that beat.
let the people hate man solid playing!! i wish my fingers were developed like yours but no matter what exercise i do idk they aren't coming together... but solid playing really was digging this video and groove!!!! how drumming should be solid and groovy with passion!
Love It!!! This dude is VERY talented! God has truly BLESSED this young man with a wonderful gift!!! @TheMmitchel you got a point .. i think the problem was that he kind of made the same thing like flood a few years before .. or one year before?? messing with a well know melodic pattern.

if you want to talk about winners - Eric Moore (Suicidal Tendencies), Chris Coleman (Prince, Beyonce, among others), Jerome Flood (Musiq Soulchild), Ramon Sampson ("AI"). However, the most recent winners have been mostly about tricks and showing off, sadly that's what it's been taking to win.
It's ridiculous to have just ONE winner take all the glory and recognition in the current Drum-Off. There's just too many great players in the final mix. Why not have a medal system like the Olympics so the 2nd and 3rd finishers get some REAL recognition,too. Like, HOW did this guy NOT win it all?

A thumb for you man. One of few that kept me entertained and amazed throughout, one of a handful that I actually finished lol. Stick flips and cymbal hats wouldn't exist in these types of videos if showmanship wasn't one of the main things they were judging you on, yeah you dropped a stick near the beginning, but kept it going. Ignore haters, you got my attention and I'm ADD!
@ronied125 That video of Eric Moore is from the following year after he won. he was performing as a special guest thats why he was able to use sound effects. That wasnt the actual solo that he won with.
You should think about what the function of a 'drum off' is. They aren't there to show proficiency as drummers, they are there to be entertainers and demonstrate their uniquely creative take on a solo that takes the audience on a journey. I'm not saying your wrong, you should just consider the context of their playing.

@kingvincedrums While I agree with you, I believe the Drum Off has always kinda been like that. Donnie Marple and Eric Moore (not saying they can't play, because obviously they can) also used "tricks" in their solos as well. Both Marple and Eric Moore used stick flips/twirls (Moore also used electronic sound effects). I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I think the showmanship aspect has always been there even before the last two years.

@kingvincedrums on top of that, Anthony Burns only put the cymbal on top of his head for a few seconds and saved it toward the end of the solo. Anyway, that's just my opinion. From what I hear, the Guitar Center Drum Off is a bit biased as well. But that's only what I've heard.
First of all, Limelight has sections of 7/8 and 3/3 so you're wrong. Also I can play many many more songs and time signatures than those half dozen or so songs indicate. But thanks for watching them sweetie!

Not true. most of the guys actually do get gigs. not all of them (who are in the finals) are big gigs. but a few winners have big gigs - you have jerome flood with musiq soulchild, ramon sampson with AI. as for the 2010 and 2011 winners, haven't heard much from them, but I honestly though both weren't the best that night.
0:53 i could not tell if he dropped the stick or meant to do that coz he still played it off like a boss! kickass drummer. I wish i could play as well as he can
