Jeselnik is hilarious. Most of his jokes are quick, not really long stories. So you get into the vibe better listening to a full set rather than a compilation of jokes. The hide and seek joke is GOLD
Watching you process his jokes is one of the best things ever. The levels of offended that you go through are actually adorable. Keep up the good work!
Anthony Jesselnik - A man who makes it tremendously hard to argue against the old "anything can be a joke no matter how dark or inappropriate" because his wit and comedic timing is so on point your brain hurts.
I like the way you try to standardise humour and equate it to your tastes. I find Dave Chappell to be side splitting funny, this guy - meh. He shocks with his "jokes", but that's it. After five minutes you grow numb to the statements.
@@anthonyshillingford848 that's how i feel about Chappell. Dude hasn't been funny since he quit his show. His last standups on Netflix were the most boring things i have ever watched. But it's funny how you standardize that
Patrice said that with comedy, not everyone in the crowd should be laughing. He said 50% of the crowd should be laughing, and the other 50% should be horrified
Niah just in case you missed it, I'm gonna let you in on a little secret.....Anthony Jeselnik is what they call a comedian, and his job is to tell made up stories in order to get people laughing. Now not all stories have to be made up.......but be assured, most are. This is how he's able to stand up in front of people and say these things. Aaaannnd you're welcome.
He's dark, but comedy amd tragedy are interwoven many times. The best comedy is making light of a heavy situation. Some comics wanna make you think, like Carlin, and others just wanna make you laugh, like Jeselnik.
Love Jeselnik! Yes, he's dark, but remember, they're just jokes. Today's comedy knows no bounds. There's no topic, and no person, that is above being made fun of. As long as theirs no true or actual hatred behind it, it's fair game for comedy. It's possible, and ok, to make a good joke about a bad subject. It helps us survive and process the pain so we can start to move forward. I can't remember the author, but there is a quote that says "every survival kit should include a sense of humor". Absolute truth! It's important not to take ourselves too seriously and have fun, both as individuals and as a society. Being offended by everything is nothing more than a complete waste of time for everyone... With that said, it's perfectly ok if he isn't your type of comedian. You handled it well and I appreciate you watching till the end and giving him a chance 😁 you may want to react to Jim Gaffigan, he's considered a clean comedian but he is still exceptionally funny. I think you could relax more with him and his brand of comedy 😉👍
He's far an away my favorite comedian, he always goes for the subversive and clever. To give him a real chance you've gotta watch his entire special or album these are all pulled out at random, to see Anthony really work is hilarious and it will surprise even you what he can get you to laugh about.
The Muslim thing was actually part of his TV show 'The Jeselnik Offensive' He had a bit called the sacred cow, where he would take a subject you can't tell a joke about, and would tell a bunch of jokes about it. But he would always perform it in front of the people who were the subject of the joke. So did most religions in front of their followers. But also did things like told cancer jokes to a stage 4 cancer support group and had them rolling. He really is impressive at it.
These would be terrifying and sad if they were told at a news conference. But when they are told at a comedy show, it's a safe bet they are jokes and not real stories.
I love Jeselnik's work, and it's one thing to watch one of his specials where every joke and nuance is paced properly and it can be taken in slowly. But for someone who has only seen some of his work, this video has to be like a mental assault lol.
One rule to live by, and this is from Anthony himself, is that when a tragedy occurs, never beat Anthony Jeselnik to a punchline about it. Another space shuttle explodes? Don't make any jokes until Anthony makes one.
I kinda feel you. I don't understand how he can tell these jokes with a straight face. I wouldn't be able to tell these jokes without smiling and laughing my ass off
You want to know something funny, I worked at a video store. We had an adult room in the back. You would be surprised on who rents adult movies. This old lady, in her 50s or 60s, would come in once a week and grab 8 to 16 adult movies from the back. The ratio of men and woman renting adult movies was pretty even. More guys would go back in the adult section, but about the same amount would actually rent them. Watching someone go in the adult section was hilarious. They would always looks around, to make sure no one was watching. And sneak in real quick, but almost everyone saw them. And, it didn't help that they looked suspicious, caught everyone's eyes.
Your allowed to laugh, you're not evil for laughing at dead baby jokes, It's not the dead babies that are the joke, its Jesselnik's clever AF wordplay and ability to completely lull you into passivity before he misleads leads you unknowingly into a sudden and abrupt change of direction, that is the joke, you can laugh at that.
This is a great reaction. I've watched a bunch of your reactions and we seem to have very similar thoughts on most stuff. I couldn't understand Anthony's humor for a while when I first discovered him, probably 9-10 years ago. It was just too dark for me, despite my own thought that I knew a lot about comedy. As I got older I started to understand it more and I grew to love his stuff and I appreciate the humor as well as his unique delivery. There are no filler words in his jokes, and his stage presence adds to it too. Makes me realize how much I really love the art of standup comedy.
So, luv, that routine was like a book I found in a used bookshop. It was called 'Truly Tasteless Jokes.' It was not what I expected, though I knew it was to be rather ill. Yet, in it, nobody was spared. Rather shocking!
Ohh no lmao hes just too dark for you girl you're too nice n pure lol I on the other hand have a dark sense of humor and understand that they're just jokes lol I'm laughing hard
Yeahhhh we won’t be seeing any more Anthony over here by the looks of it 🤣. He’s def not for everyone and I could see how uncomfortable some of the jokes were for you! Great video though!!
Mr. Jeselnik said he didn't originally start out making these kinds of jokes in his standup, but the audience reactions when he did throw a few out were far too tasty to ignore, so he leaned entirely into this persona on stage. He's a great comedian, does great interviews where he's either well spoken and insightful or he absolutely roasts everything about the host, the set, the crew, etc and it's hilarious.
