Anthony Joshua rounded off an incredible 12 months beating Francis Ngannou. I think this is the best AJ we've ever seen #boxing #anthonyjoshua / ade_oladipo1 / ade.oladipo email me adeoladipo@hotmail.co.uk
Especially considering Ngannou has supposedly got a iron chin, and never been dropped. Zhang dropping Joyce was a shock and amazing. But AJ dropping Ngannou was special
@@EnglishRoots11 In the fashion it was done. Definitely! I don’t think anyone expected that. Yes he was a novice boxer. But the guy had been hit with shins, elbows and knees and never been hurt before. Just goes to show how differently boxers are trained to hit correctly and through the target. I thought AJ had fucking killed him. It was frightening to see a man of that size get folded up like a cheap Ikea deck chair.
AJ is the best he has ever been… confident, calm, premeditated, quick, strong & still fit as they get… he will clean up now with Ben Davidson. Pleased for him classy human being
At least you’re not getting carried away. Usyk & Fury would not be a sitting like Ngannou was. AJ will not face Usyk, he’ll wait for belt to be vacated first.
@dobianuli2742 fury fangirls desperately holding on to the belief wilder was elite to prop up luke fuurys win over him. Wilder has NEVER beaten ONE decent heavyweight and gets exposed everytime he faces decent opposition
So the pendulum support swings again. I'd say Ben Davison has simply concentrated AJ on as much pure boxing technique / strategy / playing to his considerable strengths as anything else (note how much more streamlined he looks in the upper body - alongside improved sharpness / speed). With the final adjustment being moving AJ away from mental career complacency and following the Klitschko jab and grab / tentative 'scared to lose' style / steal a win blueprint that plagued him after losing to Ruiz. Bottom line: AJ is an accomplished world - level boxing athlete, who went in with an MMA guy without 20% of his natural experience. The only real jeopardy was the natural punch power of N'Gannou / AJ's CW chin. But, N'Gannou's lack of true boxing sophistication [alongside AJ keeping it long and disciplined] was meat and drink for Joshua once he was able to let his shots go. Ultimately, the true test is if he gets back in with Usyk - and even if he loses again - does that playing to his strengths. That's when we'll know 'AJ' is back...
A lot of people doubted AJ would ever comeback and be what he was originally which was a devestating combo power puncher! A lot of people said he was finished that he wouldnt reinvent himself because hes too old now and you cant teach an old dog new tricks but i kept the faith i kept sitting on that AJ train and never got off at the stops like most people did because i saw a lad who hadnt given up who was seeking glory and only had a stumble on his journey and would comeback from it far better then he ever was and low and behold my faith in him was redeemed.
Same mate, all my mates who don't really follow boxing like I do, kept rinsing me telling me fury this fury that, I told them all AJ will always beat fury I've always said has the tools to be the best it's just unlocking them. The last few fights they've been awfully quiet after AJ's wins 🤣 we don't want people jumping back on the bandwagon though people have shown their colours.
Staying active has kept AJ sharp, this is the sharpest he’s ever been. He’s doing what Wilder failed to do which was learn how to set up the right hand, and he’s doing it with speed and accuracy. His ascendancy is similar to Parker’s, both have stayed busy, and now both are reaping the benefits.
Spot on Above all the changes he made ACTIVITY is key , look at fury and even usyk they only fought once last year ,based on that alone I think AJ could beat both
that is the best AJ has looked in years, all the regular fights with training camp straight back into training camp is clearly helping, not a fight then 9 months out before training again! joshua looks sharp and spitefull
@@MMAandOatsbecause he looks a lot better - he seems to not be overthinking his movements and is punching with real spite again. Doesn't matter who he is facing, he is looking better clearly.
I think the knockout from the Helenius fight was the first step to building that confidence back. Then came the Otto Walin fight & that was the second step which led to such a devastating and brutal knockout in the Ngannou fight. In my opinion, going forward he’d be ruthless now that the confidence is back completely. Timing is perfect for the Fury fight/Usyk rematch
you know I like both, but, I believe he gets him in the trilogy. Berterbiev, AJ, and Dubois exposed the bodyshots. and Ben Davidson will have AJ focus to the body all night. And and in Saudi gonna be fair land, no, complaining to the ref about bodyshots😅 like in the Daniel Dubois fight
Yes Ade nice vid bro atm Joshua is completely at peace with his craft his enjoying his work this is a man who dedicates himself to the warriors mentality he doesn't cut corners his had his losses and now as much as people don't believe the pressure is of him and what has helped him immensely is that he has kept active instead of 1 or 2 fights a year at a push.. att the moment regardless if Fairy wins or loses against Usyk there will always be a place for a Joshua ,Fairy fight or Joshua Wilder fight some good fights can definitely be made anything with AJ will be a event 🥊💯
@@brando3342 And? AJ didn't deal with him, Ruiz, fell in love with his new wealth. And AJ, just hit and ran in that fight. When he engaged, he got caught and cut. Ruiz won the first, AJ won the second, make it a trilogy. This is a new AJ, they're saying.
@@brando3342 You conversing casually, is enough to expose you as a casual fan. Vulnerable and easily offended. Your comment is off balanced. Out classed? He ran, he knew Ruiz was too dangerous for him. AJ has shun any talks of another fight with Ruiz.
Since Ruiz, Joshua changed his approach and seemed more interested in his ring skills which cost him that edge, I think that played out against Usyk. Now with Ben Davison he's going back to those early days when he was proactive with his destructive power but with the wisdom of experience. I think he's the no 1 in the division right now and he did it in front of everybody who's anybody in boxing.. As an AJ fan I think he can overcome Usyk on the third attempt. If he can hone this new approach over the next year or so with 3 or 4 more victories he'll be unbeatable..
I understand why AJ is pissed with folks going on about the old AJ is back, draggin him into the past. This is a very new and much matured AJ, he has grown a lot since the wrecking ball days. Rather than being a balls to the wall swinging wrecking ball, he now looks like a laser guided missile. Both can demolish buildings, but one is very different from the other.
Never been a AJ fan!!! Thought he was overrated!! But his last two fights he lookslike the best Heavyweight in the world, it's the footwork and movement, AJ always looked like a big robot but now Ben has improved his flow, AJ beat them all! 😮 never thought 🤔 I would say that!!!
@emmanuelyambo4143 I think fury didn't take him seriously and carried him because it was an exhibition fight and ngannou would beat joshua in a mma fight he shouldn't be saying he's back until he beat usyk or fury
One thing AJ will now have moving forward that he lost for a while, was the fear of God opponents have walking into the ring with him. Wallin, helenius & ngannou thought AJ wasn't what he used to be, and we know how those stories went
franklin is a far better fighter than people think not a big puncher but short crisp shots and crafty too with a great chin also joshua has had trouble with shorter guys but he"s on the right path now no doubt!
And when he gets hit he will still crumble like he did before. Fights like his last three did not put him In a situation to test his resolve when hurt and under fire. Has any opponent thrown a punch at him, Wallin didn't, Ngannou didn't and Helenious didn't. It's like When England beat someone like the Faroe islands 5-0 and everyone says they are going to win the World cup 😅
Zhang Parker was for the interim world title, not a random international one of no significance. I don't really like the idea of the rematch either but i understand why that's not something Zhang would want to let go its a guaranteed world title shot or promotion to full champ for him to become the first Asian HW champion
Joshua had a chip on his shoulder thinking that everyone thought he's all about power rather than skill. But now he seems to have got past that and has embraced the fact that he has power. Now he's a complete fighter with skill and power, and he's comfortable about it.
AJ has had 3 fights recently and Fury hadn't fought in over a year made a huge difference. The lack of activity with modern boxers compared to the past is a real issue. Look at parker 4 fights in a year and beats Wilder, now 5 recent fights and beats Zhang.
I became a even bigger fan of you ade when you set Vargas straight about him saying Saudi was bull’s back yard lol for that you get my whole hearted respect 🫡🏆
Here’s what happened with AJ. He was in destruction mode for most of his career. Then the Ruiz fight came, AJ got clipped, and then AJ had to adjust. We then got tactical AJ. That got him the win against Ruiz in the rematch. AJ then came up against a tactical MONSTER in Usyk. AJ lost, then he came back, but was disillusioned by the fact that his destructive version got beat, and his tactical version got beat. That’s why he came back in the rematch with Usyk tentative, because he knew he could get clipped, but was already beat once by tactics. So, AJ wasn’t entirely sure what to do. Now that AJ has had some more fights, he’s back to sitting down on his punches, and isn’t as scared of getting clipped. One thing is for sure, Eddie Hearn literally begging Fury to beat Usyk is hilarious. Nobody believes AJ can beat Usyk. Eddie made it sound like a money thing, that ain’t the real reason haha
I think the overcorrection from Ruiz 1 to the rematch was unnecessary and caused him a lot of problems down the line. He didn’t need to lose 20 pounds and turn in to a back foot fighter to win that rematch. He just needed to be a little bit smarter and a little bit more patient setting up his shots. Seems to me he’s found that balance now. Aggressive but defensively responsible and sets up his shots intelligently.
AJ has defended his record for too long , he has come to terms with his loss ,all the greatest boxers lose , what we are seeing now with Ben is kill or be killed ❤
Im loving the tool box theory that Ben And Lee are teaching AJ. And it makes sense. He's got the tools, just has to choose which tools to use from his tool box for this fight, or that fight ect....
Glad your feeling better and the voice is back...your were right regarding Mayweather but had to adapt due to his brittle hands so became a defensive master,as for AJ glad he has regained his confidence
Being active helps so much. Don’t think AJ ever had that hair trigger right hand like we’ve seen in the last few fights. Sure, he could finish people with concussive combinations when they were already tired and hurt but now he’s a one punch guy too.
Take a Joshua highlight reel ko from his first ten fights against a cab driver, pick any of them and tell me the difference between that and his win over a one fight novice who stood flat footed in front of him with no defensive technique. It doesn't translate to being at a new level of greatness ready to beat Usyk all of a sudden. Joshua hasn't faced a live punch coming back at him since the second Usyk fight. This is reminiscent of every time Mike Tyson knocked out a hapless setup and everyone said Mike's back! Under fire and hurt nothing suggests Joshua won't quit again or have another mental breakdown again.
I think AJ is better than ever. And he's enjoying training. He wanted to get back in the gym. And two days later he is.(he posted on social media with him back in training)
Looks like we were right Ade, I can’t believe you couldn’t see the cracks in Ryan’s personality in these conferences and then two weeks later he’s going balls deep on the illuminati. Wake up Ade 😂
I'm sorry, but everyone needs to calm down! Ngannou is an MMA fighter, what happens was supposed to happen. AJ wasn't incredible, Fury was just terrible and will probably pull out of the Usyk fight with a sore tooth now.
AJ got a lot of experience from his losses, especially to Usyk. He looks more fine tuned, sharpe and completely focused. Probably more than anything is his rejuvenated mental state as his skills have always been there. Ben Davidson is a great coach for AJ, knows what to tweak to help bring the best out of AJ. But like the man said, it’s fine being told what to do, then you’ve got to go out an execute the plan. He seems more than ready to do just that. Fury, Usyk…watch out!
I am glad you said that about turning up in shape! I think, especially at the top level, that the bare minimum you can do is turn up in shape! It isn't like these top heavyweights have got to work a normal job and only feed themselves on £30 a week during camp! When you are a "professional" and have access to the best of everything, just turn up in shape😂
Yeah, happy to give AJ his flowers based on that performance, even considering it was against Ngannou - he looked fluid, composed and powerful. But that said, he'd still lose tomorrow if he fought Usyk again, and I'll still make a switched-on Fury a huge favourite. None of what AJ showed us on Friday tells us anything about his motor and will when he hits air 3 times out of 4, nor when a bigger man drags him into a dogfight and fouls him. AJ was a top 4 heavyweight before the fight and is still that now.
This AJ is way better than before, far better boxer, and now mixed aggression and that killer instinct with it, this AJ puts Fury out cold and imo beats Usyk when they fight again, which they will, you can tell AJ really wants Usyk rematch
I was wondering a bit about this thing of the timing to see if someone can explain me. Why the fight was so late in Saudi? Is that normal there? I was watching and thinking that must be really late there, are people used to that. And specially the fighters!! How they cope with the time difference? I assume that probably they stay up late one week before the fight, still, I wonder what is the point of having the show so late. Thanks
AJ hasn’t fought against top five opponents in almost two years. He would have beaten all of the guys since his second Usyk fight regardless of changing trainers.
The problem with Fury beating Usyk is that so many of us will want to see Usyk win because he's a better ambassador for the sport and he's more interested in being a champion of boxing whereas Fury is so brazen and just wants the money. But yes....AJ/Fury may not otherwise happen tbh and you best believe Fury will make all the excuses to prolong the AJ fight as long as he can or until AJ's form drops.
You all hyped him up like this last time, then he got completely outboxed twice by usyk and he had a complete meltdown. He couldn't take the losses well. And the same thing will happen again now, you will all hype him up to be the greatest, then usyk or fury could beat him and send him on meltdown again.
AJ is good against southpaws he walked through Wallin and Charles Martin, dropped zhang. It’s only Usyk who is an all time great who gave AJ issues. Soon as Ngannou switched stance I knew he was in trouble.
I think the losses to usyk made him realize waiting so long before fights was pointless. Taking that amount of time off to avoid losing between fights only made him lose.
You’re my fav channel . People don’t want AJ improved cos they did him so dirty . He will role over all of them . Ruiz was his Achilles and now he’s over confident and his style suits it . People want him to be done as it suits the negative narrative . He shows signs that he can’t be bullied . He our clinched Francis and went for the kill . He will beat usyk as his style NOW will be murder for Alex.
Hrgovic in July August i reckon is the most probable fight, which sets up the winner of Usyk v Fury and it will show us exactly where AJ is at, if he destroys Hrgovic then yes this is the best AJ so far but if he struggles with Hrgovic then people will think differently
He’s never been gone! It’s you guys who I doubted his growth and evolution. Add up all his amateur and pro fights together and it’s nothing in comparison to most He’s learning his trade I’ve always had him whilst you guys including you Ade didn’t He was still a novice when he fought vlad
Great to stick it to the mma guys and the fury fans, but he’s an mma fighter - I don’t think we should get carried away. Let’s see wilder next - keep derailing fury’s resume
The only danger with Zhang is the fact that he doesn’t telegraph his straight left at all, all he does is just push and snap. AJ punches harder than Zhang imo but Zhang has sneaky power. I think Zhang and Usyk maybe AJ’s toughest fight going forward. AJ will absolutely annihilate Hrgovic and destroys wilder and I think he stops fury as well imo but Zhang and Usyk especially Usyk because he’s beaten twice already those will be AJ’s biggest challenge.
In his recent fights, AJ has demonstrated notable improvement in his body control and agility. He now effectively channels power through his punches by engaging his entire hips and torso. It seems he's also regained that hunger and killer instinct. I believe this version of AJ can defeat the currently questionable Fury. However, I'm not entirely convinced that Usyk doesn't still have AJ's number. But hey, that wouldn't be a knock on AJ. In fact, I'm not saying Usyk would win, but given the master technician he is, I believe Usyk is the only fighter today who could pose a real threat to a prime 60s Ali!
I do think AJ is improving but it’s not enough to beat Usyk yet. It does seem like each fight as long as it’s within close range to his previous fights he is ever so slightly gaining a new edge.
I really like AJ and yes he's looking great but people saying he needs to fight usyk is a joke he lost twice and beating wallin and an mma guy doesn't mean you deserve a third shot at usyk
AJ is far better than he was,he’s faced every style that’s been chucked at him the experience he’s now got is incredible,AJ & Ben is a dangerous combination,& no way is fury now fighting AJ it defo ain’t happening after that,AJ deserves the credit it don’t mater if Francis only fought fury because he’s still a fighter a champion,& the media & many people was building Francis up to be a terminator made of iron that couldn’t be hurt, the old AJ has always been there he just wasn’t confident letting his hands go & lasting 12 rounds but he knows now,the Franklin & robbert dude AJ was told not to look for a KO & to practice what he’d been working on,anyone else he faces he’s F*^ken them up in the first few rounds, the fury fight ain’t happening but if Usyk beats fury & i believe he does I’ll really look forward to see if Usyk will fight AJ one more time,I think if fury beats Usyk he will retire unless something is in the contract saying if he leaves he will haft to pay X amount of millions but i really don’t see Fury fighting AJ i never have
When you look at Joshua’s last two fights and then consider how Fury struggled against Wallin & Ngannou you have to concede that Joshua is now favourite to beat Fury.
Can you imagine if fury had KOd ngannou like that. There would have zero credit or plaudits. AJ does it and he’s suddenly great. He lost against two of the three top drawer fighters he’s faced.
It honestly makes 0 sense having the fights on so late. Given the +3 hour time difference you'd think it would be earlier which isnt' bad. No main event ringwalk should be later that 22:45 imo for UK primetime, which is still 01:45am in Saudi. Sort it out Turki my old mucker
Recently, having beaten S L O W Joe Joyce it was Zhelei Zhang who was going to be the next world champ & now Femi, having beaten a few 2nd raters & a non-boxer in only his 2nd ever boxing match is suddenly poised to rule the world for a third time. These knee-jerk reactions amongst boxing pundits are bordering on the ridiculous in my opinion.
