A far more interesting and nuanced conversation than I expected. Thanks for another engaging dialogue, Cambridge Union!

Anthony Scaramucci - made a comment about the 40% decrease in relative wages of the average American blue collar worker as like his father was and what his family was when he was growing up. My father was also a blue collar type worker who has been a Drywaller/ Taper for the past 40yrs. On a bicycle trip he had made starting from our home city, Calgary Alberta Canada... and ending in southern California. He spent 3-4 months on the road making many stops to sight see and talk with local folks. One of his stops was at Portland residential construction site in new neibourhood. And ended up conversating with a fellow Drywaller/ Taper and one of thing that took him back a step, and also obviously took him back a step is the fact that this American contruction drywaller spoke how he hadn't seen a wage increase in the past 20yrs. I don't have to tell you the ramifactions of such a stagnation of wages would do to your standard of living, and its completely unbelieveable that they still think that average type of American doesn't believe that a wall is not totally necessary. Because these wages are definitely directly connected to the illegal workers whom are basically a slave working population because they can be paid such low wages. Completely unfair to this man and his family and that it effect every American worker and is creating a super depressed population.

Much more thoughtful than people give him credit for. His defense of Trump and some of his views may be misguided but he is quick-witted and perceptive.

He is so right on about the isolationism vs globalism thing. Its not that we don't want to be a part of the world as a whole, its that we need to take a moment to catch our breath here at home and get our heads back in the game. Once we have done that, then we can get back out into the global community and make the power moves America is known for. Its a means to an end. We just need to recollect ourselves as a nation, then we are ready for the world stage again.

Weird audience. Frozen. As for Tony, its funny how he tries to create a distance between him and his mob vibe. He is from Queens, the way he talks, acts and wears his hair totally resembles the good old mob days of the 70's and 80's. He is running a Restaurant called Hunt and Fish Club in NYC which resembles John Gotti's fav place in Queens called Bergin Hunt and Fish Club in Queens. Blue collar Italian Family from Queens. Fully authentic. All fine. I like the Mooch.

Yes, I did find the audience to be a bit odd. Mix of people who asked polite questions and ones who wanted to have a go at him. The guy at the end was probably the odd one out. Wanted to take selfi lol. FYI I also like the Mooch. He speaks well unfortunately sold his soul to the devil once he joined Trumps administration. He has even admitted that.

Well ! Mr Scaramucci you should be flattered that you where fired just like Niccolo Machiavelli , Niccolo Machiavelli he was fired by the Medici and exiled from Florence, to his home San Casciano Niccolo was a political scientist of it’s day, this was in 1513 at age 23 wrote the Prince. The book is about Mergers, Acquisition, Hostile takeover of City States He also wrote the Art of War, 3 plays, the life of Castruccio Castracani & the 10 books of Livy. In addition very Important works was Discourse the ten Books of Livy However looking through todays lens Niccolo’ Machiavelli a political scientist and his Ideas The application of his theories, concepts are used today. I think Anthony Scaramucci you are great and intelligent individual, with lots of wisdom in a strait forward way.

I like how Conservatives are allowed to speak at Universities in the UK, unlike in the US. There probably wasn't even a riot. Imagine that.

1:10:10, this comment was a perfectly worded shot at Mr. Scaramucci. That was probably the most beautifully-worded way of responding, with the intent he obviously had, and it's odd that "The Mooch" even asked if it was a compliment. That said, those with vast historical knowledge, even the most honorable students of history, have still botched many plans and opportunities for leadership, so I don't think he's as poised for that type of attack on The Mooch as his ego leads him to believe. Again though, it was perfectly worded and in the hyper-vapid ego-vacuum he lives in, it was top notch.

Scaramuchi literally had to sell off all vested interests and assets to become the communications director for 11 days! Astonishing what human beings will do for "power"!

You do realize that it was a smart move. He was able to vest all of his assets at one time and liquidate them avoiding SEC regulations that most executives are forced to comply with. A famous example was Bush's last treasury secretary, Hank Paulson, when he signed up to work in the White House, the SEC allowed him to vest all of his stock options from Goldman Sachs, (which had a 10 year hold), he made $500 Million on the trade, and he avoided the market collapse.
@Ishaq_Vally
@Ishaq_Vally 6 лет назад
John Austin Scaramucci doesn't have "options". He's not running a listed company with long term incentive schemes.
@mickeybreezy
@mickeybreezy 6 лет назад
What "power" do you perceive he had? He explains rather well that he had to echo the voice of the administration while subverting his own. He did this because he took pride in the fact that he was working for the American people as a whole. How does suppressing your own personal ideology in an attempt to further the agenda of the administration, which he obviously thought was working in the best interest of the people en masse, as a means of "power". I would argue he gave up his "power" in an effort to benefit the people of America.

Ishaq, perhaps not, but my point was a counter to Nick H. Point being, working for the government can be a great way to avoid Rule 144.
@Ishaq_Vally

John Austin My point being rule 144 would not affect Scaramucci. He's basically a fund of funds kind of guy.

more spin with a tad more charisma than trump. Trump is the swamp, look at his cabinet.

blimey this guy can spin. individual-case-wise anyway. but organisational level is a completely different story. it's in american nature to talk inspirational nonsense but governmental agenda are not personal growth tips and have more to do with long-term strategies.

Do you actually believe anyone who would actually flush their life's work down the shitter for 11 days working for Donald Trump?!?? Sad
@mickeybreezy
@mickeybreezy 6 лет назад
If you gain a better understanding of the American political/governing system you will realize that the President, although a representative leader, is not the sole decision maker in regards to national policy. This wasn't about Trump, it was about an attempt to do what was right for the people of America as a whole.
