Hey Jimmy, This is off the cuff but I’ve always wondered if Andrew Dice Clay was popular with the Brooklyn mobsters of that era. Did they think he was funny? Was there an overall pride that he hailed from Brooklyn? I remember when Dice first came out, some Italians would call out Dice for being Jewish and not a real Italian. I’d love to watch Sammy the Bull watching Dice and see his reaction.
Hey Jimmy, Do you remember a Bonanno associate named Dan Galupo? Probably about 15-20 years older than us? I had a run-in with him on St. Patty’s Day back in 2006-2007 in Newport Beach, Ca. He was visiting from out of town. I was mid-30s and he was probably mid-50s at the time. Said he was with the Bonannos. Hung out with him all night. He said he was half Swedish on his mother’s side. He had a lighter complexion like Frank Sinatra. He seemed like the real deal though. He was reluctant to share much. He was pretty guarded and put limits on what you could ask him. Had a Brooklyn accent and a real corrupt, slimy vibe. He ordered up 2 call girls who came & hung out all night and he kept paying the agency by phone with multiple stolen credit cards. He also kept getting calls from some broad in New York and you could hear her Brooklyn accent blasting out of the phone speaker. I always wondered if he was the real deal or just some poser.
