Regarding reaction times. 250ms is only just for pre decided response, like you've decided to press a button once the whole screen goes red with a random timing. Reaction times for multiple choice require recognition and differentiation between multiple choices and that is much close to 23+ frames in Tekken. Blocking lows faster than 22f on reaction is generally night impossible. You can block a 20f move on reaction but you have to decide beforehand if you are going to block low or mid, if you mix in a 20f mid with the 20f low, you will not be able to do this with any consistency.
This is very true. This is called an "informed reaction" as in you need to mentally calculate the visual attack and your response which is significantly slower than a raw on or off reaction. This is why lots of people will say drags hatchet or kazuyas db1+2 is "reactable" when in reality no pro blocks them on reaction consistently.
I've been able to consistently react to Leo's df2+3 low while the bot is also to do the d2 mid where both options have the same start-up frames at i21.
This is why Tekken is difficult. It takes this much miticulous practice detail just to be competent at 1 match up against 1 character. This game will produce even more characters with DLC season passes. It explains why these tourney competitors practice around 6 to 10 hrs a day.
Man I've been saying this for a while. Namco really needs to get on it. Cuz it sucks having to reload everything every single time. It would also be awesome if we could share a script files of other people's presets 🔥
This is a great drill. I normally do one modification to this kind of reaction drills: I prefix various startup moves to the moves you are exercising. E.g. 1 followed by the move, and in another slot 1,2 followed by the same move. All moves I am exercising get the same two different prefixes. I vary the prefixes between training sessions. I think this helps with learning to identify when a move ends and another one starts.
Sick drill I must admit. Nice reaction on the hatchet, I tried not that long ago and that was insanely hard to the point I thought it wasn't reactable.
very good just yesterday i thinking(anti drag drill from MishimaComplex, its be so NICE) and its here!!! i wanna see drill for another popular character, with many reaction punishes(jin very good pretendent but i already see it somewhere, because maybe we need some other character)
Can you do an anti Eddy video next? He seems really strong and I have no idea what to practice against him. I’ve watched your videos on Eddy stance but I’m wondering if a similar training drill could be created for Eddy.
I do this with characters but the problem is knowing exactly what to train against move wise, and for that I would have to know what the opp. character wants to go for and It's gonna be a while before I get an idea of that. Possible recommendation of what to lab per character/one of these for the cast? Great content as usual
Honestly the 2 drills im in need of is Ling and Steve....Just throwing it out their ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Well to be more honest the 3rd one would be Reina but im "scared" of admiting i dont play her myself xD
It can be difficult because every move has different end-lag, so tbh it comes down to feeling (it’s usually slightly later that you think). You can practice in the lab to get a good feel of it 👊
Man your videos are so good! I just cannot watch a lot of them at a time because the forced voice makes me cringe a bit. No big deal though, do your thing!
