@@Lisa_Papez I was also hoping for a joke about those sharp corners having a real “bite” 🧛♂️🤣🤣 (I’ll be here all week, folks! 🤗🤡 OMG wait why is there a cane coming towards my neck...arrrhgggghj...🤣)
I love Lisa, she is so mindful to always respect other people's work! There's a few decks I've been wanting forever which I haven't gotten yet. Threads of fate (oracle+tarot) and the last unicorn tarot deck! I also keep changing my mind about the work your light, the starseed and the primrose&prose oracle decks.
I agree, love Lisa's approach to these videos!! And I'm the same way with the "work your light" deck. Quite a few people are selling it used in my area but I'm still hesitant. :/
I’m one of the people who have work your light and star seed who are trying to sell mine off LOL. It’s pretty but after trying to make it work for months? I just can’t.
Thank you SO much! :) I FEEL like I'm hanging out talking with friends when I make videos which is one of things I love SO much about being here on YT! :)
This is gotta be my favorite kind of your videos. I admire your respect for something you dont like or dont want to buy. I love this anti-haul spirit in an era when nothing is never enough. ❤️❤️
Oh Sacred Bee and Medieval Europe Tarot are two of my favorites. I get your point about not loving bees and I feel the same and almost skipped this deck because of it, but I am so glad I didn’t. It doesn’t feel like a bee deck, if that makes sense. It just feels like a lovely, beautiful deck. It is absolutely stunning - even more beautiful in person and it feels glorious. If you know anyone local to you that has it, you might take a look in person because I think you will feel differently. Both decks are amazing quality too. Ah, Morning Calm is glorious too! That is another one of my favorites- to the point that I will probably buy a backup. It is a very special deck and it practically thrums with energy.
Always love your anti-hauls! I'm waiting on the Villains deck as well, I want to see all the cards first. I'd totally love a Disney Beauty and the Beast one! 🙂 Thank you for sharing! ❤️
I live these videos. I love that you put that out there, that we All should be grateful for What we already have - we dont NEED every new deck. Sometimes they only speak to our estetics and not to our intuition - it Can be hard to tell the difference. And sometimes that deck ends in the collection in the long run, because it did speak to the intuition.
I totally feel you on the waiting to buy/preorder. I keep a Tarot & Oracle wishlist in my phone and I can't tell you how many times a deck has floated around my wishlist for a few months, only for me to ultimately lose interest and take it off. Although, I've also had the opposite happen where I initially saw a few images from a deck and thought, 'Nope'. Then months later I'll see someone post about it and will think, Why did I pass on this again? My taste in tarot is such a finicky beast, always changing, sometimes depending on my mood, current goals, experiences, etc. It really is fluid. The only deck on your antihaul list that is ON my wishlist is The Love Story Oracle. I currently don't have any decks specifically for relationship readings and when I saw that one, I knew it was what I had been waiting for. I honestly love everything about it. Still, when the KS was happening the deck seemed a long way off from being in my hands so I passed on the preorder too.
I like these videos. The really make me think twice about buying a deck. I now check to see If I have decks that can fulfill the need that I think I have.
Hehehe once you have the Deviant Moon, I think you may have a similar response to me.... it's one that speaks once you have it in hand (not for everyone, of course but still).... :D I'll be curious to hear your thoughts if you do end up with it at some point.
Sacred Bee Tarot and Oracle decks are one of the very few indy decks I've been willing to spend the extra money to get, and I'm so glad I did. The cardstock is everything, the art is everything, and I do really love bees even though I'm highly allergic. I can certainly understand not connecting to those decks without having an interest in bees though. Being able to identify which bees are drones, workers, and queens is a layer of symbolism that you would totally miss out on if you don't know how.
Love love love your anti haul videos! They are such fun! I share your excitement about The Vampire deck by RMP........ I beg you do not round the corners....... I think you will be sorry. The whole point of those corners is they bite you!!!! So you’ve got to keep them to get the full Vampire experience. I lucked out on that deck in a trade. I just had to have it because of PCS as the QC. It’s a great deck and I hope you enjoy it. I hate to tell you but The Seeds of Shakti and the Morning Calm are not at all interchangeable......imo I think you’re gonna need both! 🤣😏😉 loved what you said at the end about making a conscious thoughtful choice about deck purchases.
Thank youuuu and thank you for the advice on the Vampire Tarot.... I'm not sure I will, I plan to try to work with it as it is first - I had the same thought about the poky corners being intentional LOL
I love this series, and as soon as I saw the pop-up I clicked immediately. Your videos have helped me save money, or buy decks I didn't even know about. By the way, I too am not too keen on working with the RWS system.
My rule for this year (and for the past few months) is and has been not to purchase any new deck unless I re-home one that has been gathering dust on a shelf. It helps me keep resources in check 😊
Love your anti-hauls! They are Anti-hauls done properly! I love the respect you give all creators, even if their decks do not end up resonating for you. Also, I totally get where you were coming from when it came to astrology decks -- my deck of choice for that was the easy Astrology Oracle Cards by Maya White, though the other decks are equally as lovely. :)
RMP’s Vampire Tarot is amazing. Dracula is one of my favorite books. It’s a slow read, but not boring. Lots of journal entries, that kind of thing. I recently got it again but on Audible and it’s so good for listening. Get un-abridged and if you get audio, get one of the more recent recordings. It’s a perfect Heros Journey example.
Oooooh I love that!! Did you ever see the Kickstarter where you could buy this like 'experiential' Dracula thing? Like a briefcase full of notes, letters, bits and pieces, a record etc? It looked REALLY cool!
@@Lisa_Papez I saw that and it looks amazing. It was just so expensive and I couldn’t justify it. One of my favorite books is The Historian. Same style, also Dracula but a little more modern. I really felt like I was traveling when I read it. It’s a bit more scholarly in its pursuit of Dracula.
I CANNOT thank you enough for this video. I, like you, have lusted after The Seeds of Shakti Oracle forever. Was so happy to hear about the reprint. Have never dropped $60 so quickly!
That's so funny! I was pining over the limited edition holo Astro Soul (the gold never spoke to me), but then I did my own anti-haul on it because I already had Arcana of Astrology! It is so stunning and the guidebook is top notch! I'm not bothered at all having to use it every time!
As I continue to pare down my deck wishlist, this is exactly my type of video; will definitely be watching more of your anti-hauls! I enjoy many decks that I don’t absolutely need in others’ readings on IG. I’m also curious about Disney Villains but have the same concern regarding pips.
I have been totally back and forth on Wandering Star too. For me, I think some of the cards just didn’t do it for me, but then I would see others that are just so beautiful. I love the way you communicate your processes and it has definitely helped me with my decision-making process too. There are some decks that I do just buy right away, but I often just make lists or add them to carts or keep the webpage open to the deck and wait a week or so and take another look. There have been a good number that dropped from my list over time - and there have also been a few that I initially disregarded but then absolutely had to have (Oak, Ash, & Thorn comes to mind as well as The Madhouse Tarot).
For the light and shadow I would use The Naked Heart Tarot for light and Osho Zen or Dreams of Gaia for shadow. I figured why not use animal energy and human energy to give more of a twist on the opposites. Great video Lisa💜
Hmmm The wandering star deck standing up for me but I can wait. I guess I’m more intrigued by The universal folk oracle that’s coming late January. It’s an oracle but very similar boho & eclectic feel. And I sort of lean more towards the oracle cards anyway. Also the unicorn deck 🤔 but I’m also very picky about my unicorns so I can wait. Still LOVE the magical Unicorns by Doreen Virtue. I’m hearing from left and right people choosing the “word -s” for 2021 and while watching your video mine jumped out as “simplify” and “ mindful “ In all aspect of life. 🌟 Thank you!!
Aw, Radiant Wise Spirit! I totally agree on preferring matte but what's happened for me is Radiant Wise Spirit has become the deck I bring camping. It is so laminated it borders on wipe-able so I feel comfortable having it in a tent and using outside. I do have the indie Arcana of Astrology but totally feel the same as you re: maybe only needing one deck in this kind of style -- it's the only reason I haven't gotten the Living Wheel Astrology Cards even though I love them (and never say never on that one). I have Robert M Place's book on my 'to read' list and hope to add one of his decks to my collection one day. ❤️😊
I can TOTALLY see how Radiant Wise Spirit would be a great camping deck!! :D That's Modern Witch Tarot for me... if I were to ever go camping... er... glamping... actually I can't remember the last time I actually camped. It's been a LONG time LOL sooooo yah. I think you'll really enjoy Robert M Place's writing!
Can't wait to see what decks I'll be buying X;DDDD Also, I love your pendant, it's real pretty! Also, for the light and shadow reading: Oak, Ash + Deviant :D (I knew you'd say that for the shadow one XD)
Congrats on scooping up The Vampire Tarot!! LOVE!!! I have put the Journey of the Sacred Bee tarot in and out of my shopping cart probably three times already. I want it but obviously not bad enough to hit the buy button. Maybe one day. ;) Whoa, you shocked me with your decision on The Wandering Star Tarot. This deck has Lisa written all over it. hahaha. I cannot wait for the Labyrinth tarot. Have you watched this movie yet?! lol I love these videos! Thanks for sharing. xoxo ✨✨✨✨
Wandering Star DOES have me written all over it and I'm pretty sure it'll end up coming home with me one day... I just didn't want to impulse buy it during the campaign..... and I have nothing else quite like it sooooo maybe a future Say Yes to the Deck? LOL
I use my prisma visions and light visions tarot for light and shadow readings and sometimes I just shuffle them all up together and see what happens haha. But if I didn't have them I probably would be getting the tarot of light and shadow lol
I always love these anti-haul videos. The purple top (robe? jacket?) you're wearing is stunning, and what a great color on you. I had wanted the Medieval Europe deck but then I got Dani's Mystic Masters and I no longer do -- I absolutely love MM! So cool you were able to score that Vampire Tarot and I think you're right to want to read the book by Bram Stoker -- it's outstanding. If you like the book, I would suggest following it up with "Who Was Dracula: Bram Stoker's Trail of Blood" by Jim Steinmeyer, which traces the main events and people that influenced Stoker and inspired his writing. That Wandering Star deck is a beauty!
I totally agree with you on the Radiant Wise Spirit Tarot...so glossy! I re-homed mine, but I am tempted by the mini version which is suppose to have better card stock! I have been scaling back on Kickstarter decks by not going on the site in months, but in a moment of weakness...BAM...I saw the Wandering Star Tarot and backed it 🤣🤣.
Girl, first can we talk about how adorable you look today? So cute! hair check, make up check, cute jewels CHECK!! TOTALLY agree, you can only have so many astro-oracles. I have the Witchbone astro-oracle and it has really good house cards, with the ruling planet, but of course you can't get that deck at all anymore. But the Living Wheel is hands down the prettiest of these oracles...the more you use it the more you appreciate it. I was just talking about how well the gold shows up in the cards in that deck. Claire Goodchild though, what a talent! I alllmooost got that Medieval Manuscript one..not the one you showed, but the one with the shitty cardstock. So happy I didn't. So happy with my old Touchstone tarot, and Mystic Masters, and and and I have things that scratch the itch ya know? I feel so bad that Bohemian Gothic is now gone and done. I love it, but I guess we gotta let people move on, right? RM Place's Vampire deck YAYYYY! So glad you got that one. I love it so much. I almost trimmed it, but didn't and I'm glad, almost edged it, but didn't and I'm glad. I never corner rounded it, and I'm glad. I just love the way it looks. Also, love the cardstock, that one is a fun shuffle to me. His book is really all you need! you don't need the Bram Stoker book, it really has more connection to the movie/television vampires. ahhhh. Sasuraibito. I just love it too. Nothing really compares to it. Thank you Lisa!
Aw thank youuuu!! I agree about the Living Wheel - it's hands down the prettiest of them all!! So glad you didn't get the Manuscript of Initiations, I've never felt such icky cardstock LOL The poky corners of the Vampire Tarot are prolly gonna have to go for me because they're SO distracting, but I do love the way it looks sooooo we'll see :D And it's great to know the guidebook is enough, though I think I'll have fun giving Dracula an attempted read anyway LOL
I think I agree about the light/shadow spread that I could make what I already have work. Without actually working with Tarot of Light and Shadow, I wouldn't be convinced it would even have the same punch as my favorite shadow decks, and I really like having brutally honest shadow decks. Tarot in Darkness is my number one most brutal shadow deck, but I don't think it would pair well in a spread with the light decks I have. I'd probably do Sacred Light Oracle paired with one of my many Alana Fairchild Oracles, as those work well for shadow work, are roughly the same size, and the art shouldn't clash too bad.
I'm with you on mindful decision making on deck purchases.....and also the Robert M Place Vampire tarot...I almost fell off my chair when you showed your copy as I bought one myself a few days ago...weird!?!
I really like the mini spirit wise tarot. It is not a glittering one but has the same colors. What I like about 8t is when I do real big spreads. The cards are small enough to enter the entire table but not too small so it makes it hard to shuffle like the mini classic tarot...
Living unicorns the way you do, you’d have just died if you’d gone to my high school. We were the Mighty Unicorns. Our colors were royal blue and white, and If I’m not mistaken my high school is the only school in the USA with a unicorn mascot. New Braunfels Mighty Unicorns in Texas.
I appreciate the care with which you decide whether or not to bring decks into your collection; I think it helps your viewers do the same! I decided on the Radiant Wise over the Centennial Borderless because I preferred the atmospheric backgrounds/coloring, the backs (and I edged in an olive-green gold which matches them perfectly), the two-piece box, and even the little guidebook over what comes with the Centennial. I sometimes actually like the chunky line-work in Radiant Wise (it does bug me on a few cards), but it's the cardstock that has been my biggest struggle, as it is so thick and inflexible! :( I am going to check out Morning Calm and Arcana of Astrology. Thanks! :)
Thank you for this feedback!! That's definitely the goal - a little counterbalance to all the OOH SHINY we get. :) I LOVE the backings of the Radiant Wise Spirit and oooh that edging sounds LOVELY!
For light vs shadow readings, I like to use: The Light Seer's Tarot with the True Black Tarot or The Good Tarot with The Sabbath Tarot Those are my matches...
11:11 .. I find the Deviant Moon Tarot match really well with the Fountain Tarot as the Shadow and Light. I did a Pick A Card with it works beautifully together. 💜
You are glowing in this video! 🤩 If you actually end up scratching all 78 cards from the Scratch and Create, then I think you and I will be the only two in the world with a completed deck 😂 😂 RMP's Vampire Deck 😮 Wow, awesome score! I've also been tempted by the Wandering Star, but I think I'm okay to pass. Another fab antihaul 💖
I feel you when it comes to the astrology decks. I have the Astro Soul as well. I buy The Living Wheel calendar each year to sate my desire for that deck, lol. I love Goodchild's Antique Anatomy and the new one is so pretty. It's so hard! Thanks for sharing! Blessings!
That was the same reason I ended up deciding against a color your own tarot book. And after watching a video about the scratch off cards I decided no too. The act of scratching them leaves marks on the face of the card and they are easy to damage too. Great idea but too much work and risk.
The Journey of the Sacred Bee is an amazing deck, one of my top 5 favorites.. it's beautiful, smart, deep (I would not call this cute), and reads amazing (for self and others). There is no other deck out there with the same powerful energy and presence, in my opinion.
I had the same with the wandering star, but all the facial expressions are the same, and so I talked myself out of it. But if I see it here in store, I cant promise it will stay there. But with shipping and customs it wasnt worth it for me!
Samesies! I hadn't noticed the facial expression thing... thanks for pointing that out, I'll check that when I look again (as I'm sure I will when it's out)
A deck I personally enjoy using for love reads is the Women of Science deck. Not only does it fill my appreciation for women (as an AFAB NB) but it’s got nice art, it’s got WOMEN SCIENTISTS INCLUDING WOMEN OF COLOR WHO MAY HAVE BEEN IGNORED BY MANY, the booklet tells you about their contributions to science, it’s got a nice symmetrical pink backing that’s good for reversal reading, and I personally find the card stock very nice. It might not be the best quality but out of my 6 decks it’s the 2nd easiest to shuffle. (My fav is the White Sage tarot which works better on my small hands as it’s pocket size and I’ve also had it longest so I connect with it) So yeah maybe not too relevant but maybe some of y’all would consider either of the two decks I mentioned :) white sage also includes chakra readings, a good backing for reversal readings, a beautiful watercolor illustration scheme, and animals as the major arcana!
I really agree with you on the Radiant Wise Spirit tarot. Why is it so glossy? Ugh. I am doing a Depth Year and Low-Buy year in 2021, and it's SO HARD to avoid buying all the pretty shiny things I want, but videos like this help.
OMGGGG I added the Light and Dark to my cart!! I love the quirky art! I never paid much attention before. Haven't ordered yet-cause Idk if i'd use the dark (I'm not sure I like the blue...but I'm mulling it over LOL) I love the idea of creating a Light/Shadow reading! OOOh thinking about the pairs I may have... Awwwww No Medieval Europe!! Oh my hearttttt....but I mean, Mystic Masters does work LOL Oh, you make me blush. Thank you so much!!! Oh!Dracula...looks interesting!
YT is terrible about notifying me on the comments on my more 'busy' videos and I totally missed t his!! I can't wait to hear what you think of the Light and Dark - if you did pull the trigger! Hee. Mystic Masters beats out Medieval Europe, HANDS DOWN! :D
LOL...Sacred Bees and Medieval Europe are in my top 5 favorite purchases of 2020. Why doesn't Mr. Place reissue that Vampire deck??? He could sell so many! I backed the Wandering Star...I love the 60's/70's influenced art work and color palette. It's very reminiscence of 60's/70's editorial illustration that were in all the teen magazines I read. Thank you for sharing!
I loveeeeeeeeee this series. I had the same issue as you on the Radiant Wise Spirit so I'm glad to hear it. Still wanting the Mystic Masters Tarot but not super sure yet hahaahha.
I am in the same boat as you with the love story deck! I'm trying so hard not to impulsively purchase this one but its soooo tempting! I definitely get the fomo feeling with this deck!
I was listening while driving and had to pull over to SQUEE about your preorder of the latest Seeds of Shakti deck! I’ve handled a prototype deck and it’s SO nice! I absolutely love it: size, colors, keywords/phrases, guidebook...even the gilding, which I don’t always love, I feel matches the “richness” of the rest of the deck. Can’t wait to hear how you like it! 💕💕
OooOooh prototype previews are always SO exciting!! I'm REALLY looking forward to seeds of shakti... I've wanted it for ages but OOP prices are always so... 😑
@@Lisa_Papez I know!! Well, I’m super excited that you’re getting it now, and I hope you’ll do a walk through for us, or a review once you’ve used it for awhile. Or both LOL ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I have the mini and regular sized edition of that Rider Waite. Do I need the large edition. Yes! Lol considering how slow I was to purchasing the traditional RWS deck. I adore them now. I love the pairing idea of Light Seers vs Deviant Moon. I have both. But I’m also curious as to what other decks in my collection would pair this way as well. I’m definitely going to spend some time with this idea. I’ve yet to add an astrology deck to my collection. I just have such a hard time grasping and understanding it outside of reading my own chart and horoscope. Start talking retrogrades, houses and moon stages and my eyes start to gloss over. Lol. I hope to get past it eventually. I love how you explain why you passed on Sacred Bee. I feel like that about many decks. Beautiful beautiful work. But not connected to the main subject of said decks. I really really like Dani’s deck but the shipping cost is a killer. Almost the same cost as the deck. Shipping costs to Canada is killing me these days. Lol. Your misgivings with the Minerva decks is exactly what mine are. I have not preordered any of her decks for this reason. Not a huge fan of pips when the theme of the deck has such a huge possibility of becoming a fully illustrated deck. It feels like corners were cut in order to pump out multiple decks. With that thought the decks feel to commercial if that makes sense? Ok I’m super jealous of that Robert M Place deck. Wow. *drools Lol. I did back the Wandering Star deck. I just really really loved the art work in this deck and I feel very called by it. Great video!!
Yesterday I was thinking on decks I could use for Light and Shadow readings and I found that The Vivid Journey Tarot pairs great with the darker comic book style of the Justice League Tarot
I am on the fence with Journey of the Sacred Bee! I feel like it would be a nice deck to work with when I want to focus on Earth and Air energies, but I'm with you on not being the biggest bee fan. They're cool, but I'm fairly indifferent.
Soooo much fun as usual Lisa! I really would love the Vampire Tarot by Robert M Place. 😊 Dracula is such a great read - I just love it so much. I just backed The Self Love Tarot on Kickstarter and I thought you'd really like the deck too - it's soooo beautiful 💓 😊 🙏 Xx
I just got the affirmation tarot deck but I’m waiting for other decks to arrive to film my next haul video. I’m so tempted to take a peek at them though lol 😂
Omg a beauty and the beast deck I would totally buy. And a Moana deck I need like yesterday! Also I would LOVE a Gilmore Girls deck like they’ve been doing the golden girls and friends. Ugh why isn’t that a thiiiiiiing?!? 😆
OKAY YES on Gilmore Girls.... and Buffy... those are my two like.... could (and have) watched the whole series over and over and over again shows! They need decks!
Notes from the Universe would be good for someone doing pick a card readings, or if you were doing live readings for a client and they could just chose rhw affirmation they wanted and the. You could read them their message. (Something like that)
I agree with you on the Radiant Wise Spirit. Even though I LOVE its moody coloring, the line work is heavy and the stock too glossy, but there's one card that drives me CRAZY! The 6 of Pentacles has a broken string on its scales (forever changing for me the meaning of the card) How hard would it have been to correct that little printing error? For clarity of line work and dramatic coloring, I highly recommend the RWS 2.0 from MPC. I have issues with the Vlad deck too. Whereas I don't have issues with fictional depictions of vampires, Vlad the impaler was a historic figure whose human brutality is infamousy incomparable. I don't think I need that kind of energy in my collection. It's like acquiring a Nazi deck. Just a hard no from me.
....okay now I'm gonna do a Lightseers/Deviant Moon pairing! Another one I'd be tempted to try pairing like that would be Tarot in Space (light) with Tarot of the Silicon Dawn (shadow). Kind of niche, but they both have this scifi / space feel from very different directions. Or ooh, maybe Sasuraibito paired with Raven's Prophecy. I'm not sure why my brain wants those together, and Sasuraibito is pretty balanced, but for some reason those two jumped up.
Also oh God, don't tell me the mass market of Arcana of Astrology is prettier! I don't need two copies! 🤣 I already just did that buying the second edition of Tarot of the Holy Spectrum, and am tempted with Tarot of the Crone.
@@AvoryFaucette Bahahaha i mean they're BOTH pretty - I don't think you NEED the MM version if you have the Indie ;) That Tarot in Space & Silicon Dawn combo sounds awesome!
The Sun card, usually happy, joyful, innocence, good things, positive outcome. Naked baby. Lisa: "Look at the Sun! Vampire on fire!" I backed The Wandering Star and cannot wait! Agree with all the other anti-hauls, and usually I end up plonking down some serious change after these videos, ha. 💰💰💰 Did you back the Faunabelle KS?
Ooh, for the light and shadow concept, I have ideas! I would use the Oak Ash and Thorn with the Children of Litha (external influences versus what is coming from within) or the Ian Daniels Tarot of Vampyres with a deck like the everyday witch tarot (dark supernatural beings vs modern witches) or my FAVORITE- Tarot of the sidhe with a deck like the Mystic Fairie tarot (Wild creative energy vs a more society/community type depiction)
