Iyengar's mother language is Sanskrit and not Tamil. For south we south Indians, the Hindi language is the foreign language and not English. Hindi is not a unifying language but dividing India. When the south Indians go to north India they learn Hindi and so there is a necessity. Likewise when the north Indians come to south they should invariably learn the southern language, they cannot expect the Hindi signages in the South. The anchor should know it is not ‘fringe’ group opposing Hindi but the entire population of each state is against Hindi. Hindi is not national language. There are twenty two Indian languages which are national language. Hindi chauvinism is very clear here now. This is what we call the Hindi fanaticism. These Hindi zealots are saying English is not an Indian language. These are people uneducated because they have studied Hindi only and hence they are blind, there are northeastern Indian states whose official language is English. Why are we insulting the northeastern people? These are the anti-national people. When the debate is for English she should speak in English otherwise she can quit and vanish?

I'm a Telugu from Hyderabad. I fully support the Kannadigas here. Hindi is not a national language in our constitution and rightly so. In fact there are more Tamil and Telugu speaking people in Benguluru so if the argument here is about being cosmopolitan, then why not have other regional languages on the sign boards? Why can't we have south indian languages displayed in Delhi? So this cosmopolitan argument does not hold any water. North indians should really understand that Hindi is not India and India is not Hindi. If Hindi should be displayed in a city like Bengaluru, than Delhi and Mumbai should reciprocate.

I am a Thamilian. I support the Kannadigas. When there is English for people who do not know Kannada why Hindi is required? If Hindi is allowed here, one day Kannada will disappear. 2001 language census of bangalore..... Kannada - 41.54 Tamil - 18.43 Telugu - 15.47 Urdu - 12.90 Hindi - 3.41 Malayalam - 2.95 Marathi - 2.22 Konkani - 0.71 Others - 3.18 So, the third language that should be on the board is not Hindi, it's Tamil. Then There should be Telugu, after that there should be Urdu and following that there is the place for Hindi. Hindi Should not get more privilege, it is harmful for our diversity.

In Tamilnadu, it's getting worst now. There is No Tamil in National Bank Challans or Train tickets. If Some know only Tamil - He can't even check did he baught the Right Ticket. I am ok With Hindi in Sign boards and Challans. But don't take Tamil out of it in Tamilnadu.

I am a Pure Tamil boy. Tamil people are smart and know that if Hindi is influencing into Tamil Nadu it will soon destroy the Tamil language. Which is why we Tamil people have declined Hindi language several times because we know that Tamil IS ONE OF THE OLDEST LANGUAGES SPOKEN TILL THIS DAY! Same for Kannada I rlly hope Karnataka people will soon realise that by letting Hindi in soon the language of Kannada will be gone and Bangalore will soon basically be a North Indian city😬I highly recommended that you Kannada speaking people to be smart like we Tamils r and protest for your language! However, this step was never taken due to the anti-Hindi protests in various non-Hindi states in the early 1960s. Hence, as of today, both English and Hindi continue to be the official languages of India. I fail to understand why the BJP panelist speaks in Hindi on an English channel. None of the panelists have their mother tongue as English. However, since it is an English language channel, everyone is speaking in English. Such chauvinist attitude can't be encouraged. @Mirror Now - Please do not call Politicians to these debates or if you must have them, plz call some sensible ones. Both Congress & BJP representatives are as dumb as they can get. Now coming to the debate, no one here spoke on the root cause of this unrest in Bangalore. Native people of the city and the rest of the people of state are being taken for granted by both Union BJP govt & state's Cong govt with the Lang issue. To give an instance Banks in Karnataka used to provide service in Kannada, English & Hindi. All of a sudden these so called Nationalized banks stopped service in Kannada and only Hindi & English was there. Reasons were RBI gave incentives to banks to promote only Hindi. Now if you don't call this as #HindiImposition then what else can it be ? To discard Kannada even in core kannada speaking regions & replace it with Hindi is pure atrocity. Due to this Hindi encouragement, banks started hiring employees from Hindi belt and there have been many instances where these employees were abusive towards local for not speaking hindi. Same is the case in Railways and Post office. This is not just about Metro nor against Hindi, its a debate larger than that

Write in all 22 Indian official languages for the most effective communication or remove Hindi. Why is that Hindi Wala this arrogant? As a North Indian, or a Hindi speaker (I'm not from any one place since my Dad was in the Army so I've been everywhere, and I've stayed in Bangalore and Hyderabad and other Southern cities), and I say this is totally correct. Why is Kannada or Telugu not implemented in Northern cities? South Indians are expected to know Hindi and English, but North Indians need Hindi when they go to the other parts of the state, just because North Indian governments can't do anything about educating their people?

There are lots of Tamils in Bangalore than North Indians. Why not Tamil be put instead of Hindi.

Two issues with Hindi on Namma Metro...first is that a person who visits a new place should be able to converse in the locally accepted language(s)...if I went to Brazil I can't expect signage in Hindi/Mandarin due to the large number of speakers of those languages. Second, Hindi is being imposed in South India, but no South Indian language is on signboards anywhere in North India...were is the respect for South Indians in the North?

Actually main problem is Hindi speakers don't want to learn & speak other language. They don't respect other language. That's the main problem.. They are trying to force to speak Hindi.. But you guys are awesome.
