Stephen Carter sadly not they said we could collect it when we exited the suez, they knew full well we wouldn’t wait for someone to drive it all the way up to us.
Not corruption, just plain old theft. And abuse of power, of course. If I had a yacht I'd never sail it to that part of the world. If I have to there I'll either send someone else instead or maybe take the plane.
@@Who--Dat there is a difference between confiscating possibly contaminated perishable goods that cost 10 bucks, and stealing a piece of equipment worth a thousand bucks or more. Not that the TSA isn't full of thieves, mind you.
If the owner of the boat was on board that probably would have been a shorter wait. I can only speak from my experience. When you go ashore or make first contact with the government officials all I need to say is to carry cash with you and pay all your fees ;-);-) and you will be surprised on how faster things go from there. It also does not hurt to have someone with you from there that understands how things work. I was fortunate enough I have a friend of mine who grew up there and still had family there with good standings with the local government.

Nor all "pirate" are bad There have been illegal fishing across Somalia for the last 3 decades and the local small fishermen are defending themselves from illegal fishing. Heard most are Iranian and others come and fish illegally. Japanese also buy the huge Tunas that caught illegally in Somalia. Well now the fishing rights have been sold to China so at least some of the fishing are now legal and let`s hope the money are going to the local people. There have also been tanks of poisons been dumbed in the Somali coast which have effected the locals

should have "kill pirates tour" set up the ship look like cargo ship but inside the ship full of guns and heavy peapons and charge for 1 person may be 5000us$ or more i'm think many people what to buy these tour to kill the pirate so win win
thongchaiyai sangkhapong : Sort of a wildlife conservation group! “Don’t kill a tiger, shoot a pirate”. Great idea. This is a most effective way of culling these critters.

out of curiosity what does it cost to have a security team on board is it by the trip the day ,week and how much is it,im guessing between the regular crew fuel, food etc normal costs what is it like a 50,000 a day to run that boat
Back in by yachting days I remember when we first came along side somewhere in Dubai, port security came in blazing in their big black four wheel drive with lights and gave us a warning because I was piggy backing a friend (that had no shoes on). I was like "okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, nice welcome". Slightly overkill much.
you should use a tactical military chinese drone that fires bullits has a camera and infrared heat detection night vision they cost from around £4,000 upwards
I don’t know why so many security teams recommend inflating fenders to block stairways, any serious pirate would knife it or shoot it in seconds. Plus they are a pain in the arse for crew to get around. I tried it and the waves shifted the stairwell fenders on the first night, pointless.
In order to carry weapons on board do you have to fill out any special paper work? I ask because you do have to enter port at some point. DO you have trouble with other countries you enter with weapons on board.
I have heard of this security team . We will be making the same passage through Aden in a year or so . How would I contact them for hire ?? Or I can email you privately. Thanks .....oh you can rest assure I'll be passing that port of call corruption t its finest.
Are you able to carry firearms on your yacht while going into the ports of the countries you mentioned? What are the requirement, do they make you hand over the firearms then returned to you when you depart? I suppose any individuals yachting into these waters would want to carry firearms for safety
Not a clue in middle east or europe. In the Americas usually can NOT carry long weapeons, but small weapons and shotguns are OK if you declare them as well as the ammo. It depends on the country of course.
So in countries around gulf of aden, can you carry assault rifles and rocket launchers on your yacht as a way to battle against pirates since they all have these weapons
@45searay --- and no infrared vision either. I would be flying an aerial balloon with infrared and night vision, following the boat, about 60+ meters in the sky. Or a surveillance drone, a mini RQ-4 Global Hawk drone 😆u I'd also would mount a Bofors 57mm L/70 naval gun, that would be hidden in the jacuzzi 🤘
If you want that the pirate can climb your ship, you must have an M14 Rifle and you must put CCTV every siding of the ship so that u an see them and if possible u can make a steel plate as ur shield while firing the pirates.Make sure that ur gun sight is zero and practice shooting. If u are a sharpshooter the pirates will not continue going up to ur ship.Just make aure that ur shield is very thick and u must have it in every side of the ship.
+Carew Martin Really, is that a legitamate question you're asking or are you being sarcastic. (BTW, No paid security company exposes the identy of their staff in hostile regions.... they have families!)
could give me ten grand to Finnish off our house , then I can feed some kids after we sell it , maybe get 80.000 , try to buy into a house,,, I know I'll never own one , but need to help kids, nice boat
+TomJoeShow, so are you defenseless most of the time then? What are the laws regarding firearms or other defensive counter measures on boats? Might make a good video.
On international waters you may have a Harpoon missile if you want to, but every port on every country has its own regulations. In the USA you can have almost a missile luncher if properly declared and is legally owned. In Bahamas, VA, Barbados and others up to shootguns, in Venezuela and cuba , well .... you go to jail for a swiss army knife, Brasil is a shit as Egypt and so ... every country handle has its own regulations. . Mostly 3rd world countries are very "strict" about weapons, but if you tip the guys probably will forget all and you do/take/carry whatever you want !!!!!!!! Corrupt countries.
