Is there any advantage of tig welding it instead of just mig welding it?

That 10 inch wide wheel looks lost compared to the 14 inch wide centerline wheel.

I wouldn't weld the tubs all the way till you have them all tacked in place and checked for good fitment , than when you weld it ,it will move a lot less on you , just saying ,also would play with your pulse on the machine ,get less heat in the tube and a nicer weld .

I got some 12 inch wide draglites with 33x14 on them you can try

Hey John how is your drive shaft going to under that U shape cross member ? Or is it going over it ? Looks like it will rub that frame piece with any separation. And it just may be the angle I’m looking at it from a camera! But it’s coming along nice FYI

Should consider painting all the bars and metal work you did with Steel-it paint, it’s kinda expensive for each rattle can but you don’t need a lot because it sprays out heavy and covers well, blends really good and you can weld over it without having to grind off the paint because it’s a weldable stainless steel metallic paint. Just scuff and paint, no primer needed, it’s something quick and looks good.

I'm begging and pleading, please, PLEASE don't use rims that tuck the tires that far under the car. I'm gonna cry if you race that thing with a tire that is several inches in from the fender lip. I know it's personal preference, but I can't stand that "too far under the car" look. That narrow stance also greatly increases the likelihood of a rollover when sideways compared with having the tires spaced out to give the car a wider track. Great work so far on everything. I just hope you'll take the time to find a used set of rims of the correct size to give the car a stance and offset that is visually appealing. I'd hate to see you do all this great work only to have the car look like a tube chassis built narrow for an Opel GT that somebody stuck a Mustang body on. Awesome progress and great work. Those welds really are getting a lot better with each one.

Turn the big tire and wheel around backwards just to see if a tire that big will fit. You want all the tire you can get. Looks like that 14 inches is just right with the 7 and 7. You could go 7.5 split to use a 15 inch wheel

I have a 91 fox coupe with a 25.2 chassis with 15x14 Weld Draglite’s with 4” bs, and I can fit up to a 33x16 tire. Currently has 33x14.5’s on it. I would sell the wheels/tires if you’re interested.

Please buy new/different rims, nothing looks worse than a monster tub with the wrong offset wheel! 🙏🏻

John, I don’t understand how you can build your car in the garage like that. That is some crazy stuff. How do you know how to do all that bar placement and angles and stuff?

I'm so impressed by your persistence! Your success hasn't just been handed to you that's for sure! It looks like you could go 14" with 4" BS! Nothing is worse than seeing a car with too much backspacing, it looks like they built it without a measuring tape! Please get those babies out to the edge! Randy's car is good example of perfect wheel fitment!!

That chassis is looking good. Everlast welding you tube had a good short video on tig welding chromo. a couple months ago. Might help ya out. I always like learning more, that’s why I watch all you racing guys!

Those central offset wheels are by far the most commonsense. You need a wider diff+ longer axles=less stress on the axles and far less rear steer.

John Doc runs a wide rim on a small tire. Looks like u r going to b able to race anywhere. Haha. Great series.

I remember not too many years ago that the 14x32 was the go to big tire that everyone ran. Now you see all the way up to like 17x36 which is crazy huge.

I’d want to be able to fit a 33x10.5 for outlaw 10.5 classes. Big tire if it would fit. You are going to have to have a very shallow backspace wheel to get a small tire out where you want them
